This bracelet is handmade by artisans in both Rwanda and Zambia supported by the trade-not-aid jewelry initiative Same Sky. Zambia is part of Same Sky's most recent expansion that gives jewelry making work to 30 women. These bracelets are crocheted on a non-stretch cord with delicate seed beads that are originally made from glass.
Same Sky employs HIV positive women in Rwanda and Zambia as artisans. Same Sky artisans earn a wage that is substantially greater than the average wage of most women in sub Saharan Africa. All net proceeds are reinvested into the business to buy more materials, employ more women and expand into new regions.
