I honestly thought they sent me the wrong item when I got this. IT IS NOT BLACK AND WHITE. It is blue and brown, and very lovely if you like antique gothic styles. It could be super cool in a certain situation, but it is not my style in these colors. I also expected it to be jersey, and it's woven, it fits very loosely, and overall I just don't know that i'll wear it. They always show it it in the pictures with cool boots, but it's so long you can't see your shoes. I will say the shape is flattering for a curvy girl though, which isn't always the case with FP things. I'm keeping it because it's lovely, and long sleeved, and I would feel pretty if I can find a place to wear this.
I am 5'6" 135. and bought a size M.

I bought this dress based on reviews of sizing. Went for a Small when I am a pretty solid XS. 5'7" 124. Bought small. Too big in waist, arms and bust (which was mentioned a lot in the reviews as being too tight). I do not have a small chest nor a large chest. Had to send back and reorder XS which was awesome! Wore to a birthday party & it was so fun to wear plus lot's of compliments. Was easy to dress up w/ booties and jewelry or down w/ a flat boot.
Rated 4 out of 5Â by mkiss Pretty dress, a bit tight...
I really love the print of this dress and for the most part, it fit, BUT it is extremely tight across the chest (for reference, I have a pretty substantial bust, a large 36DD), and the only draw back to that is the stretching in the buttons in the back - the open seam is gaping, and I don't know how flattering that is (I don't want to walk around with people thinking I'm bursting out of my seams!). I definitely need to wear a black tank beneath to not have my skin so visible. From the front, it's very figure flattering, and the sleeves fit nicely. Another point that I feel isn't brought up in reviews is that this fabric has ZERO STRETCH, so be warned! All in all, a great dress, but perhaps not the best for the large breasted.

I bought this dress in the white with blue/ pink flowers and wear it with grey ankle boots. I feel very feminine when I wear it and receive lots of compliments. I am bigger on the bust and a size small fit well. I tie knots in the bottom so it doesn't drag on the floor which makes it look more casual & boho. I love this dress & recommend it.

I recently got this dress in the Black Combo colorway and I am really happy with it. First let me provide a reference: I am petite at 5"3' and 110lbs with a small bust and I purchased the extra small. The fit: fitted across the chest, through the arms and through the upper waist, beginning to flow out from about 3 inches above the belly button with full and flowing skirts. In terms of length: flat-footed the front touches the floor and the back pools a bit on the floor as its longer than the front. In reasonable heels the front was perfect, the back just brushed the floor. Its the volume in the skirts that I love: the fabric falls and drapes wonderfully and its movement is very graceful and feminine. The top portion is unlined and a bit sheer, but the scooped neckline is high enough that I wore a slip without it showing at the top of the neckline. One other thing: while the yellows in the dress in the studio pics look softer and more pastel, they do look more vibrant in person. My final note: there is no stretch in the fabric so there are two areas that could be problematic for certain body types. The first is the bicep area of the arm: it is a narrower more fitted sleeve so be aware if you have a more shapely or muscular upper arm. The second is the bust: I think (as other reviewers have mentioned) that those with more generous bust-lines may find there isn't enough space for comfort. Hope this helps, and enjoy!
Rated 3 out of 5Â by Kewelle Pretty, But Not What I Was Looking For
From the front picture online, it looked suitable for something conservative. After reading that the fabric is a bit sheer on top, I decided to order it in the black combo.
When I received it, the black was still a bit sheer. The skirt liner/slip is fairly short, and the skirt also is a bit sheer. Also, the button placement in the back made it look like a line of keyholes reaching below my waist.
As for the fit, it seemed pretty roomy and much too long for me. I am 5'1" and slender.
It is a very pretty dress, but it simply didn't work for me. I think you have to be the right build to pull it off.

I ordered this dress in the white combo, the color of the dress is exactly like the studio photo's with much more color than the catalogue. I'm 5'8 and 130 pounds with a lean athletic build. The dress has a slightly high low cut with the front of the dress hanging slightly higher than the back witch falls about an inch and a half above the floor.
Only the bottom half of the dress is lined leaving the breast area slightly shear. This dress is too light to be worn alone in the winter, although it would look wonderful with leggings or sweater tights underneath. This dress can be worn in falls winter or early spring.

I opened my Free People package when it came in the mail and had no idea what was in it. I thought they had sent me the wrong item, and then realized, they kind of had. The dress I received was white with blue and tan flowers when it was supposed to be white with black flowers. I was extremely disappointed! I was so excited for this dress after reading the reviews and those colors were very dull. The style is nice but the fabric also is very light and not like what is shown or described in the pictures. Also, the top is very sheer so you'd need to wear a camisole or something under it(as the back is open so a bra would show through). I feel I should've been notified that the color I ordered was not in stock before they sent it out, because I ended up returning it. If I had received the white/black, I probably would've kept it. If you don't mind receiving varied colors, then it's an okay dress. If you want what's advertised in the picture, then I'd be wary of making this purchase.
