I love this skirt. It made me feel very slim and I love the way the lace insets swish around when you walk. It does run a little long and if you are short it probably wouldn't work. It does have an unfinished hem so you could cut a few inches and hem it. I loved the fact that it is so long as at 5'11" I don't often find maxi skirts that are long enough. You could definitely dress it up and wear it for an occasion or casually with a T. I wore it with a grey long sleeved t-shirt, patterned scarf and a grey short cardigan for work. I received loads of compliments on my outfit!!

I had the exact same issue as the last poster. My waist is almost 10 inches smaller than my hips and this skirt is huge in the waist. I can actually pull it up to my chest--but I'm short. I really wish I could go down a size, but that size is sold out. Definitely a fit that is meant more for the long and lean.
Still, this skirt is beautiful enough for me to make it work.

I bought this skirt in an 8 and a 10. I am generally one of these sizes. Both sizes fit at the hips but I had a massive amount of fabric left at the waist. I will have to get this tailored. I ended up returning the 8, because I liked the looseness at my hips and since I had to get the waist taken in, I figured the 10 left more to work with. If you have a large difference between your hips and waist, this skirt will pose a problem. I have a 10 inch difference, So, I guess what I am saying is I love this skirt enough to pay even more to get it tailored. It is so cool the way it floats when you walk. I love the fabric at the bottom. Lovely skirt, can't wait to be able to wear it!

i was hesitant and bought 4 other items along with this and this was the ONLY thing I am keeping from that order. It is beautiful. I am 5'5 109lbs I ordered the 0. It fits perfectly in the waist, it does not need alterations at the hem. I am so pleased. I also purchased the belt in the picture in another order it is wonderful as well. I paired it with a button down blouse, the same belt and Jeffrey Campbell lace ups similar to those in the picture but lower shaft. Awesome outfit.

This is the perfect maxi dress. It fits like a glove and the silhouette is beautiful. It has crochet detailing on the top that is very pretty and delicate. and lace detailing on the bottom that gives you peeks of your legs when you walk. The movement this skirt has on the bottom is incredible. I'm 5'11" and I'm so excited that i finally found a maxi skirt that was long enough. I wear it a little lower on my hips to make sure it floor length. I got it in a 4, and I wear a 27/28 in jeans, and it fit perfectly. It's overall an amazing skirt. I'm long and lean but this gave me curves.Very mermaidesque!!!

I came on to FreePeople.com right after I got my package and tried on my goods to gush to you ladies about this item... WOW. Seriously, the crochet detail at the waist is so gorgeous you have to try it on to get a feel for it. I dont even know how to express the deliciousness I felt. The silhouette of the dress is something too, has a beautiful fishtail/mermaid shape. Yes, you have your regular fishtail mermaid skirts, and then you have this skirt... its got contrasting panels of black lace that is amazing... I am a petite girl and regularly a size 4 (S/M) in FP, and with this skirt on I feel like Im at least 6 inches taller and eat like a rabbit. I would never otherwise have a chance to say something like this, but I feel Like A Model. I tried this on with the Leather Harness belt and a billowy peasant blouse tucked in, and I am ready to break some hipster lumberjack hearts.
