Rated 3 out of 5Â by DeBohemian really loose for an XS!!
Considering the fabric is stitched/gathered with elastic - you'd expect it to be form-fitting, but unfortunately the XS is really loose - more like a S-M. Pretty fabric, the only real disappointment is the size and fit.

it's a tiny bit loose, so size down, but it's really not too bad. the looseness works well with the look. the textures and colors are great!!!

Usually, I hate smocking in dresses. I typically find that it cheapens quality. HOWEVER, the smocking really makes this dress as fantastic as it is. I tried on both a medium (which was my size before losing weight) and a small and ended up purchasing the small since the medium was bunching in my lower back area and the front was falling down. For the dress to fit properly, it has to lie flat on the body, which can be tricky to find. The smocking makes the dress fit in the top and makes the flare of the skirt that much more adorable and flattering. It is a pretty short dress, which I really like. Super fun and a great purchase, so happy!

The material is thick and rough! for size X.S. is larger. There is a "connection" line right in the middle front, where the the flowers are cut. I have had better than that for less.

I tried on this dress in the store and was super disappointed! I thought the material would be like a dress that I bought a long time ago at free people, tight and clingy, and soft! On the model it looks like it is a tight dress but in reality it isn't at all! The material is not stretchy and soft but kind of stiff and canvas-y, not comfy at all! It was also extremely unflattering and baggy in the waist, like the previous reviewers mentioned. The pattern is very beautiful but the fit was just awful. Also, I'm 5'8" and it was extremely short on me. I would definitely advise trying this dress on before you buy it! I tried on an x-small and I'm a 32A, 115lbs.

I'm a little confused by the other reviews on this dress, as they seem to vary quite significantly. I'm glad I bought the dress (via online store) before reading the reviews, or else I would have been too confused to even think about purchasing it.
I am 5'4", 105lbs, bought the XS and it fits great! I am sure it could certainly fit tighter, but it by no means looks overly baggy and I am very flat chested. I put a wide high waisted belt with the white and yellow version and it looks adorable. I definitely prefer the dress with a belt.
Other than that, it is SUPER comfy and I may just have to buy the black and red one, since I will probably be wearing them all summer long!

Let me preface this by saying that I LOVE my dress and am not returning it at all. This is because I finally figured out what size was best for me. Yes, the other reviews are true, it is on the looser side in general. If, however, you have a large chest and large hips like me, you are probably going to struggle with wondering which size is best for you. the main problem I would say with this dress is that the dropped hemline is perhaps a tad too low to be super flattering on anyone with hips. I went with the xs at first because I read the previous reviews about how large this dress runs and it did fit me...but the stretchy material of the torso (yes, the entire torso is stretchy which is why I believe it runs so large) made my hips really stand out just above the hemline. And even though I don't normally have muffin top (I literally have a TINY layer of fat and then just wide hip bones), it made me appear as though I did. At first, I was really disappointed. I had really wanted to love this dress. Then I wondered if sizing up would be a good solution. I tried on a small because hey, it wasn't like it would take me a long time, and lo and behold, that was the solution! Again, the fit of this dress is pretty strange. If you notice even on the model wearing the color dress I have (the red and black combo) even HER hip bones poke out and she's probably way skinnier than I am (reference I am 32 DDD, waist 26). Also, if you notice in the catalogue the model wearing this dress is holding her arms in front of her so that her hip bones are obscured. I think Free People was maybe trying to hide that flaw in the design. Again though, I found that by going with the bigger of my two normal sizes at free people (a small, as opposed to an extra small), that largely solved the problem. Granted, it is still a bit loose in the torso, but it's still really cute! And my hipbones don't make me look like I have muffin top! Hooray! So what's my suggestion? If I were you, I wouldn't order this online if you can help it. Try and find a Free People store that stocks this dress and TRY IT ON THERE. I always find that's a good idea in general with Free People stuff anyway because their sizing seems to be wonky much of the time.

This has a beautiful pattern & the material is excellent quality! You can throw this on and go anywhere! I love the fit & the feelof this. The smock looks sexy and it hides any imperfections you may have! So Adorable I grab this dress over & over when Im lokking for something to wear! I am 5'3" 108 & bought the small. fits perfect! The adjustments on the straps do not go too far, so you can't rely on that too much, but I love the dress too much to dock a star! FP you did it again! Love you! Worth the money!
