The skirt is prettier in person than the pictures. The elastic band is very loose so even an XS is roomy for me, and I am pregnant. I was hesitant to get the skirt b/c of its train. How am I going to keep it from getting dirty? But I also got it b/c of the train. It is so special. I figure, when I'm outside, I'll tie it into a knot; I'll let it down when I'm indoor.

Washed black is grey folks! I'm not sure the confusion with the others who expected to get a black dress, but it is just as it states, and as it looks in the pictures-a washed faded black. Beautiful design, great quality! I usually wear a S in Free People, but have a very small waist, so I decided to size down, and I would size down again if they had an XXS. Gorgeous skirt though, plenty of length to wear it really high, or at the waist.

by BitsyJ I'm in love! (Frilled out & chilled out.)
I agree with the rest of the reviewers about the color - it's definitely more of a faded black. But I actually prefer the more muted color. This skirt is super comfortable so you have the benefit of a dressy look without the discomfort. I'm only 5' 5" and with some heeled boots the skirt just graces the floor - perfection. Can't wait to wear it on New Year's Eve! (Here's a pic from when I first tried it on - without make-up - hence no head! Pictured with my FP moto jacket.)

Now that I look at the different pictures I can see the difference between the waist band which is definitely black and the skirt which is a dark gray. I actually like the color since its more interesting and different. It is definitely big. I normally wear a medium but I could have easily gone to a small. I'm 5'9" and I have to pull it up to my belly button and it still drags in the front. I personally don't mind this since I like my clothes to fit long. I love the back which is meant to drag on the ground. I was thinking about wearing this to see the Rockets and walk around to look at holiday stuff in NYC this weekend. I'm not sure if the back will be a hassle for that kind of thing especially if we are taking public transportation and climbing stairs or getting on a bus. I hate stepping on my skirts. I may give it a try and see what happens. I think I'll bring some pins on me and quickly modify it if I think its a hazard. I tried that earlier and it looks great. Weight wise, the skirt is heavy but while wearing it doesn't feel bulky and it lays nicely so not to add weight on you. I think that is because jersey material is typically forgiving. Even if you decide to pin it up, the material gathers nicely and it can show off your cool boots/shoes. Top wise, I think I'll go with a simple white tank top and my black vegan leather jacket and some fun jewelry and/or scarf depending on how cold it is.

Yes, it's more gray than black. The color doesn't really bother me, but I wish that FP would get more accurate color images. That being said, the skirt is nice. It moves well, and has a nice swish to it. It's a heavy skirt, with a lot of bulk to it, but it doesn't make you look fat or anything. I ordered my usual size small (5'7" 130 lbs) and could easily have sized down to an XS. The length is good. Not terribly long, but I did roll the waist band over a couple of times to get a better fit. I wore this yesterday and had several compliments on it, but I sort of wish I had returned it for a smaller size. It's opaque, so no under layer needed. I think I'll get a lot of wear out of this piece, and because the fabric is jersey and mesh, it will work well about 9 months out of the year.

I loved the look of this skirt in the pictures. Very different look as always from Free People. My problem is the color of the skirt. It looks black in the picture. The color listed is "washed black." I am here to tell you the color is noticeably a darker grey- not black at all! So if you want a grey skirt this is for you. You can order a size down as it has an elastic waistband. Wish I had done that. I could return it but leaving for a trip so taking it with me. Maybe I'll try to dye it so I get the black look. Still love Free People!

Just receved this in the mail and i have to say that im a bit bummed. Not only is it GRAY it also is cheaply made. The Elastic waste band is fraying and the base fabric that the ruffels attach to Looks like a shear Cheap under slip to a trashy dress from wet seal... For almost 200$ i expected much better quality than this.
Makes me really sad as i love the way it looks, unfortuniatly i can not handle feeling as though i actualy paid as much as i did for somthing so badly made so im Sending it back tomarrow :(
