This dress is part of our special Fp One collection. The designer for Fp One has lived in India for 20 years. While there, she became inspired by how the beautiful Indian workers worked so effectively from their homes and used traditional hand crafted techniques. She found herself joining these workers and getting involved in the process alongside them. Her hands on design approach helped bring a modern touch to the traditional techniques that these women used. Together, they created unique designs that mix both old world and new world aesthetics. A lot of the design details used on the Fp One garments stem from the decorating ideas that came from the design elements in our very own Free People stores, such as the patterns, prints, colors, and embellishments found on hangers, curtains, furniture covers, and mannequins.

"I like to mix it up sometimes" theme is endless
1.8.2012-
"Initial reaction when it first appeared, was "where the heck am I going to wear this"....even after the price dropped. Then I bought the "traveler sweater" and noticed under that sweater, the model was wearing the slip dress from here without the mesh slip.
After I bought 2 other FP slip dresses to go with the traveler sweater, I looked at the mesh dress photos (enlarged) again and decided to order this cool looking "dress".
I'm 5'3" and 127 lbs. I ordered this in S and it fits fine except for the length which was easily altered by just using scissors on the mesh fabric to make the hem 2 inches shorter than the model's. Did the same for the floral slip dress and a quick machine sew. The lowest mesh fold of all of all floral trim folds is where the dress starts for me and I love it.
The floral under slip can be worn under other sweaters/tops by itself and the top mesh dress LOOKS REALLY GREAT over a solid long black dress or any solid color that matches the trim. Solid black is my favorite. Or with just black leggings and tight top (tank top or sleeves) with a lightweight open cardigan, too.
The "I like to mix it up sometimes" theme is endless....
Workmanship, extensive detailing on the bodice and especially the trim matching the slip is very well done.
I'm so glad that I didn't let this one "slip by".
P.S.
The bulky sweater and other stuff the model in photo 3 is wearing, would be too much for me....I'd look like a bag lady. LOL
Cheers! FP and everyone.

Mesh faze

"I rather like the combo of mesh over material. I am 5'8" and the bottom of the dress does hit the floor. I like that the printed slip dress is not attached to the mesh dress. The straps are quite thin and delicate."

Pretty Pretty!!
12.20.2011-
"This dress is sooo very pretty, sheer, girly, and fun. I went with a large and it fit basically tts, but a little bit loose. The length hit my 5'9" frame just like it does the model. This looks fantastic with a chunky sweater layered over top and some leggings and boots. This also looks great dressed up with some heels, and a leather jacket. Lovely item!"

beautfiul but sheer
11.29.2011-
"it's true to size. but it is very sheer. although I think the prints and the mesh will allow me to get away with the sheerness of it. will try it with skin colored inners on a less sunnier day. otherwise, I would need to layer it with something underneathe."

Sheer Delight
10.20.2011-
"It's definitely a diaphanous dress, but with a short slip underneath, it's magical and wearable! I love the way the mesh overlay flows airily around me as I walk. The length is perfect - at 5'9" with a pair of 2" heels, it skims my toes very gracefully. I had hoped that it would a little more form-fitting at the waistline, but a slight alteration may solve this. As the other reviewers mentioned, the true bonus is that you get two-dresses-in-one with this beauty, and each looks great gussied-up with an elegant wrap or casually edgy with a leather jacket. My fantasy is to wear it barefoot on the beach, but for now, I'll have to be content with boots since I live in the rugged Southwest!"

Perfect fit, Perfect fun
10.18.2011-
"I love lots of Free People stuff, and I have several recent dresses...and this one could have been a long shot, but its just fantastic! I am medium build and 5'8'' and pretty busty, which can be a problem, but the two pieces of this dress combine to cover everything in a really flattering way. Both parts are sheer, and I guess that might freak some girls out, but with a black bra and a nude panty, bare legs and short boots, I felt great. I have had more compliments on this one than most and my man said I knocked it out of the park this time. I usually wear a Small or Medium FP dress and this one is perfect in the Small. Lastly, the underslip is really cool with just a black mini slip under it!"

More of a Slip than a Dress...
10.13.2011-
"The best part about this dress is the under slip. It is a floral print mesh under-piece that works with a lot of different things. The over-piece is lovely and the details on the ruffles add an interesting dimension to what is otherwise a mesh slip. Paired together the "dress" is completely see through. My daughter told me it looked like I was wearing my nightgown. To really make this dress work you need to add another more opaque layer under the floral slip, or something over which hides most of the detailing. Overall I like this because I have a weak spot for maxi slips, but this is definitely a layering piece, not a stand alone dress. (On a length note, at 5'7" both hems just skim the top of my foot, so there is no dragging going on - thank you FP!)"
