I don't know what the other two reviewers are talking about regarding running small!!! I am 5' 8" and weigh approx. 167 lbs and have huge breasts and this is one of the first coats/jackets that I can actually button all the way up. It is one of the most exciting purchases I've made all year, stylish, funky, hip, flattering, looks like at least a $750 coat and if you told someone you bought it in a Beverly Hills boutique for $1200 I really don't think anyone would question it. Love that it has pockets, very important!!!! Great stretch to it, and so cozy!! I feel like I really scored.

This Corduroy Coat is just as beautiful if not more so in person as it is in the pictures. I found this coat to run true to size and as a size 6, the small fit perfectly with just a dash of room so that if I had a sweater on underneath it wouldn't be too tight. I had a hard time deciding on the purple wine or the black. On the one hand I know I would wear the black with everything because it's so versatile and I love black, but when trying the two on, the purple wine was just stunning and the details were much more noticeable, so that's the color I went with. It will look great with a lot of colors in my closet and will force me to be more creative with my outfits than if I had just gone with the black. It's perfect to wear for California winters and will be so fun to wear during the holidays, too!

My jacket (in black) arrived today. I love it, but the sizing is obviously erratic. I was aware of reviews claiming the sizing was large, but most jackets were true to size, so I decided to go for it. (I have FP sweaters/tops/jackets from as far back as 2006 and am a definitive size xs). This jacket is HUGE. The shoulders extend 1 1/2â past my shoulders; thereâs a 3â gap from my armpit to that of the jacket; the sleeves extend beyond my fingers; the bust is 2-3â too large on both sides; and the lace touches the floor. If I reorder and pay return shipping from Canada, the next coat might fit or it be too large too. Because I love it so much, Iâm almost certain Iâll keep it (raising it at the shoulders and adding little shoulder pads, taking in the sleeves, taking in the bodice, and cutting off a bit of lace). (Thank you, FP, for opening stores in Vancouver!)

I agree with Gigio - from some of the reviews I was thinking that this would be a tight squeeze and sized up to a L. I usually take a Medium in Free People, Large if it's fitted or cropped. I am a size 12 w/36D bust, and a size Large was very loose on me. Sleeves hit my finger knuckles (which is ok with some garments, but wanted the coat to be more trim fitting), baggy across the shoulders, chest area, loose across the back so I couldn't see the great corset details of the fastening. But otherwise, it's a gorgeous coat - unlined, mid-weight, soft, flows well, just the right length -lower calf on me at the back and I'm 5'9"). I called and re-ordered, and thanks for the heads up, Gigi, I asked for the Rich Teal color and they had it in stock! The Plumb Wine was also really beautiful, deep, rich burgundy so it was a tough decision! This is a beautiful layering piece that will turn heads this fall.

I sized up--mistake! I usually wear a M in FP tops--this is a velvety, wide wale cord long jacket that feels so soft and cuddly it is more like a cardigan. Fabric is VERY stretchy-- I am 5'10" tall, 34D, hourglass--the sleeves are long and loose, it is loose in chest and waist, the length hits near my ankles. I am returning it for a Medium--the teal color (not shown on website yet) is a rich jewel tone and utterly gorgeous! It hangs well, too, very slenderizing.

Saw this on line and bought the black on a trip to New York in September. Beautiful long coat. Stretchy cordouroy fabric that falls very nice. All the colors are awesome, its just what suits you. With FP buy both S & M.. but really leaning towards all smalls...I can only buy on line only and finding that M in tops are too big. I am 5'5", 125 lbs. 34D, 27.5 waist & 36.5 hips. Small definitely fits well and will be able to wear sweater underneath if I want. The coat length on me is just like model. This is a statement coat and compliments will fly. Unique and I love it. Wish I had an actual FP store in the Okanagan but looking forward to visiting the new store in Vancouver!!!!

I couldn't love this coat more. I am a bit of a sucker for teal, and I love long flowing coats--this is absolutely wonderful. It billows in the breeze and I already get many comments on it. The spandex makes it a little stretchier than I had thought it would be, but in every other way, I'm loving it.
By the way: The correct term for this type of corduroy is wide "wale", not wide "whale."
