UMMM, No! I bought this in an xs in the cream and red velvet. The top lace is BEAUTIFUL but the bottom velvet is too poofy and makes it look like a costume. Where the lace meets the velvet... is seamed so high that the dress give you zero waist. If you are my height 5'1" you may want to keep looking. However, if you're doing Romeo & Juliet on stage, snag this dress! I would be perfect

first thing I noticed pulling this dress out of bag that arrived in was wrong color ,,,, how can it be wrong ?! I was expecting to see some purple on that dress â¦after all photo presented on website is black with PURPLE velvet bottom ,, so at least my eyes see purple and I am positive that I haven't gone color blind yet . Dress I got is black with Dark navy blue velvet bottom ?!! and no matter in what light I put it sadly does not turn purple as one on the photo here :( I feel very mislead by free ppl and can't believe that they don't compare garment to their photos before posting them in their web⦠So that kind of kill my mood and dress looks too dark to me being navy blue velvet , I got size 2 and for reference I am 5'7" and 115lbs and it was correct sizing for that body frame, I could not button up easily little button around wrist although my wrist are skinny so that is annoying task , back hooks are not as bad as button wrist where I was worried that I may break whole lace thing by doing it .,,,, this dress does not appear puffy as some reviewers mentioned , it is cute overall but for the money I have cuter that this one, I will have that returned because its not as pictured color !!! actual dress almost looks all black,,,,,, see pic

I loved this dress in the photos, and love it still in real life. I normally wear a large, so bought a size 12. I was surprised in real life by the see-through back, since at the time of my purchase, only photos of the front were up.
This dress may not be for everyone. I loved the witchy/Victorian vibe it gave off- perfect for my Christmas party and special occasions to come. I happen to love lace and shades of red, and the skirt color is still a dark red (to the color complainers: it's not as dark as in the photographs, because the entire photograph is dark! Everything will look darker than it is.)
The fit for my body is nice - small waist, big hips/butt, and normal size chest all are covered. Just make sure you have a good Merriweather bra :)

I had been watching this dress for a while and ended up having to purchase the next size up because my usual size was sold out. The fit is a little more lose, but the length is better...my usual size 6 may have been too short as I am 5'7. The material is beautiful and I love the vintage style. The color is more of a rich red than a burgundy. There doesn't seem to be anyway to wear a bra with this dress since the back is out completely, but I think I may be able to sew in the inserts from an old bathing suit to make it work. Overall, I am super happy with my purchase!

This dress was everything I thought it would be! The detail on the top is gorgeous and very good quality and the scarlet velvet looks amazing. I could def see how the gathering around the waist line would bother people because it does look a little frilly, but personally I love that look. This dress def makes a statement and is really unique so if your into that then don't hesitate at all!

I had the highest of hopes for this dress and couldn't have been more disappointed. The dress was way too big on me.. sizing down would be recommended for this one. When I had it on it looked great from the front but when I turned to the side it made me look frumpy and wasn't flattering at all.. The velvet was standard velvet.. it was more of a true red instead of the maroon pictured and the mesh underskirt was itchy and it seemed really cheap and it definitely "poofed" out a lot. The lace bodice is incredible but clasping the enclosures on the back of the dress was a task. The pictures really make the dress seem rich and elegant but in real life it looks more like a costume. I just don't feel like it was worth the money so I returned it...

Yes a very special dress. I ordered my usual size 4 but needed one size up, 6. The size 4 waist felt a bit high, and the size bigger, 6, set better on my waist/hip. It is worth it for special occasions. Very lovely and feminine. worth the wait!

I was expecting this dress to blow me out of the water. The pictures are so nice. However, this is more suited for a play, like a high school Shakespeare play. I bought the red one, the top is very good quality embroidery and fits fine (this chatter about the wrist thing being tricky is not true, its one button, easy). The velvet is velvet...pretty standard, and the undersheathing black stuff felt a little on the cheap side. The body is much more of a cream colour, not white as depicted. I'm 5'5 105lbs, and the dress fit almost perfect in the body (size 0) but the skirt was too puffy and I'm just not sure anyone would take me seriously in it. I think if you had it altered, especially the skirt, it would go from 2 stars to 3.5 stars. Not worth the price in my opinion, sent back. I'll attach a camera phone picture, maybe it will help give you an idea of what it looks like.
