by maggie_318 Awesome boots but not worth $300
When I saw them online, I knew I had to get a pair! Waited months until they go on sale and finally found a pair on sale for $199 at a local boutique. They only had size 8 and I was afraid it would be too small but actually I was surprised how perfect the fit was! I normally wear 9 in boots (40 European or UK 6) but this 8 fits great.
I am giving it only 4 stars because the quality doesn't match the price. In my opinion, they should not cost more than $169. The leather is thin, the sole is glued, made in China. The khaki color looks like dark grey online but in person it is more like a pine green with a combination of charcoal.
I have long legs so these don't quite go over my knees (see attached picture).
These boots draw attention; they are comfy, too. I am very happy with the purchase but if you consider getting a pair, I suggest you wait until they go on sale.

To start my review, the colour of these shoes is very much different than what is depicted here. Somebody before me wrote that they looked forest green, and I will agree. My mother thought I was wrongly sent the black pair, but they look like a dark pine green to me. Definitely not khaki, definitely nothing like the image and very close to black but not deep enough to pass as attractive. The shoe laces are completely different than what is pictured. Basically the green is not warm like a brown/khaki green, but a cool shade, edging toward blue green. I personally do not like this as I expected KHAKI, but some of you might. The construction of the shoe looks the same, the leather does not. It is evident that the JC brand has outsourced to China to keep up with popularity and demand and it is a complete insult to loyal fans considering the price tag does not reflect cheaper production. The leather does not feel supple, it feels thick and rubbery and looks cheap. You will not see that natural sheen depicted on FreePeople. It is not the same boot, I guarantee this. The shoe you see in the photographs here is likely from a previous batch and it will probably never be the same. I also noticed an ugly splotch near the heel (you can see it if you click on my picture, I also posted this to show the actual color) and I donât know if this is part of the intentional distressing but it looks kind of like a chemical spill accident or something, in my opinion. Fit is true to size, a little roomy but it is not a bad thing. The soles are very thin and made of a cheap rubber, I think it would rub off into a powder after a short time.
Like I said before, the JC brand has forgotten quality-they are surely substituting cheaper materials while online retailers still sell using out dated product photographs, from old batches made with better materials. The zipper is also really poor quality and takes away from the design, it would've looked a lot classier if the tongue was separate from the rest of the boot and the redundant zipper eliminated. I am sorely disappointed in the JC brand now and I was a loyalist, the quality has gone completely down hill. This is the third pair of JC shoes in a row that arrived looking sub-par or defective and I will most likely not buy again. I am also unhappy with FreePeople for the false advertising, the least you could do is update your photographs to depict the batch you are selling. Either that or your monitors need some calibrating to accurately represent color. I would not recommend these shoes and I am sending them back even though they were a gift. Thank you. :)

These boots look really great. The first time I slipped them on, I recieved so many "omg I love your boots." or "those look perfect on you".There were a lot of females who then felt they had to find a pair just like em. I love the soft leather. They fit like a glove, while still being able to move in any kind of movememt. I'm a verry petite female. I'd like to let any petite female know, these still fit nicely. Not oversized. Being petite can tend to make shoes to look like the focalpoint instead of you lol. I couldnt find a flaw about these, they look great with anything. I like being able to rock any style with the same shoe, definitely getting my money's worth. The color is soft not overpowering. I'm contemplating getting another pair.

I absolutely LOVE these boots. I just got them in the mail today. I ordered the Taupe color and was expecting a dark brown, but it is actually a dark mossy green. The color is very natural and not fake looking at all but I wasn't looking for green boots, so I might exchange for the black. We'll see, but regardless the quality is amazing and the style is so versatile.
And don't worry girls, you don't need twig size legs for these to look amazing!

I got these in khaki not quite knowing what to expect. They are a black greenish color. I think they'll go with brown or black....love it!! I love everything about them! I have a slender leg and they fit well...not to loose. I don't lace them up all the way so it won't be hard on the rivets around the knee allowing my knee to bend. Worth the price!!!!!

I was one of the late shoppers who fell in love with these boots once they were all sold out. I was so heartbroken. But with determination and optimism I checked this website almost everyday until my wish was granted!!! Someone had returned a pair in my size!! I wore them to the mall and EVERYBODY was looking. I love these boots. So glad I bought them and worth every penny.

by fiiimac Don't know if I can handle it...
These boots are A LOT of boot. Nearly everyone I met today either mentioned or stared at them; so much that I almost felt like a vehicle for them instead of the other way around. They actually eclipse the girl. And I generally love slightly unusual and eye-catching stuff â feathered hats, sequins, leopard print and faux fur â but I don't know how I feel about being upstaged by my clothes. Do you know what I mean? A big part of it is the super distinctive natural-blue color (which is actually really amazing and looks like a kickass update to antique granny boots. And the dye didn't stain anything, like other reviews experienced). Other details: I am a 7-7.5 and bought these in a 7, and they're a little roomy without stretching, so I'd say they run a bit big. And zippers are definitely flimsy, but replaceable. One odd thing: my pair came with one silver-toned eyelet amongst the rows and rows of brass. So odd! I actually think it's kind of cute â like having different-colored eyes â but it's still a flaw. All in all, I haven't yet decided if I can get over the price to keep these boots, especially considering that people don't even notice the rest of me when I'm wearing them (and I had a very sexy dress on today!), but if you're up for it, go for it. They really are fantastic.

Why, you ask, would I be depressed? I bought the khaki coloured boots after much debate about what size to get. I read and re-read and then read again ALL the reviews I could find on these boots. I live in Australia and wear an Australian 9/10. American 10 tends to be in the middle so when I read that some people thought the boots ran small I started to fret over the size to order. I eventually bit the bullet and bought the 10. They arrived 1 week after I submitted my order and they are divine. They fit like a dream. There has been no "colour rub". The reason for my depression-I should've bought the natural ones at the same time BEFORE they sold out!!!!! So if you want to return a 10 in the natural let me know. I'll buy them in a heartbeat!!!! Heck I'd even get an 11 and wear thick socks! They sit at the same height on my leg as the model (I am 5ft7). Loving these boots.
