I bought the m/l in the shiitake color and I love it. I usually wear free people size large. The waist starts out a little higher than shown on the model but eventually stretches out to look like it does on the model. I liked it both ways. Color is as shown and very pretty. Fabric is not smooth but is nubby which is fine. I think I liked the high neckline and cap sleeves the best., very cute.

Well, from the other reviews I now know I must have received a mismarked dress. Because EVERYTHING I receive from Free People runs huge on me but this dress. It ran small through the body so that it didn't hang free. I was really disappoionted. If you've purchased from Free People before ( I do a lot) I need not say that you buy for the style not for the quality. Because the quality is really poor. Thin fabric, no hems, just rag bottoms, etc. But I love the styles. This was my first disappointment. The rest of the items I have purchased I take to the tailor to have taken IN! I was supposed to get a large. This was more like a Medium.

I got this in the Shitake colour, size xs.( For reference I am 5'3" and 110lbs) When I first put this on I wasn't sure if I liked it... I didn't dislike it, I just wasn't sure what to think. First, while the fabric is sheer, it is also heavier than I expected it to be, and the waist seam sat higher on me than it did on the model. As I wore it through the day, the weight of the skirt portion slowly pulled on the dress so that by the end of a few hours the waist sat lower and the skirt was on the ground. It is fine now that I know that will happen as I can wear taller, heeled boots but its something to keep in mind if you are already petite. As the first reviewer said, this is more of a blank canvas piece than anything; on its own its alright but its real appeal is that it can be combined with a multitude of other items for a different look every time.

I bought this dress in black. It is bordering on sheer, as they state. This is a lightweight dress, not thick jersey. In a brightly lit situation, you'll definitely need something underneath.
The flax gives it a nice texture. Not too scratchy. The inside of the hems are a little bit scratchy, though, since they're sewn with clear plastic strips along the seams, beneath the stitches. I'll be wearing this with a slip, however, so it's not a big deal.
The lightweight fabric does concern me a little for fall -- I don't think it will get along well with tights. But then there's the whole, "You're wearing it with a slip already, woman," solution.
As for fit, the product page says the XS/S is 59" long, but I measured my M/L, and it's only 53". The length is like the product photo for the black dress, not the taupe. I'd have preferred the longer measurement, since, with the raw bottom, I could trim it to taste, but 53" will do. It will show a little more of my boots when autumn comes. I'll just have to take a second look when wearing it wtih heels.
I measured the bust on the M/L, armpit-to-armpit, and it was 29" (58" all around), unstretched. That gives it some drape and keeps the back slit from pulling open. (It's mostly a secret, barely noticeable on mine.)
The dropped waistband is 20" across (40" around), and it has some stretch. It being a more form-fitting measurement than the bust and the lower skirt, it keeps the dress from being a sack.
The seams of the tiers don't have much stretch, if any.
This is a good dress and has a lot of scope for the imagination, accessories-wise. My favorite part is silly - IT HAS POCKETS!
