First of all, the cotton is so soft and feels good on the skin. It felt thick without feeling toooo thick. My only complaint as other reviewers have mentioned is that the arms are pretty snug. Not unbreathable, just tighter if you have a little extra muscle there. I got my usual size the XS which I'm wondering if I should have sized up. If you have slender arms you probably wont have much of an issue with this.

I bought this dress in my usual xs, and found the fit to be great (not too small or too big). I will say that it did fit a bit snug in the arms (for some reason, fp makes some of their dresses disproportionately snug in the arms, even for someone with thin arms). However, b/c the fabric is so soft and stretchy, the arms loosen up a bit with wear and are not a problem. The waist area fit a bit loose on me, but I figure it will shrink in the dryer. I purchased the cranberry color, and it is more muted than what is pictured, but still lovely. I had also read other reviews saying that the fabric was too thin and revealed underwear lines and flaws - I did not find this to be the case. The fabric seems to be of nice quality, weight and coverage. It drapes beautifully off the waist and hip, and is very flattering and comfortable/soft. A great piece for layering in the fall or to wear with a motorcycle jacket and boots. I was also pleased with the length (not ridiculously long or short). I could even trim or shrink it a couple of inches and it would be perfect (I am between 5'2" and 5'3"). It is so cute and comfortable that I am thinking of getting it in the olive color as well - a versatile piece at a decent price.

I have been jonesin' for this dress for more than a year now, and I finally went for it. I ordered the cranberry and sized up from my usual small to a medium (thanks to the excellent reviews on here). Sizing was perfect - form-fitting but not skin tight, very flattering. I was so excited to wear this, and so I immediately measured the hem and started to trim the excess fabric. (It is VERY long and I'm only 5'2". One of the reasons I wanted this dress was so I could trim it to size without having to get a tailor involved.) After I finished cutting it, I looked the dress over and noticed a hole along the seam on the upper right backside of the dress. I'm so sad! I can't exchange it, since I cut it, and yet this dress still has the tags on and it's got a hole. I'm so, so, so disappointed. I will probably pay someone to professionally fix it; since the fabric, while soft and comfy, is very thin and fragile. I don't want to attempt a fix like that. I am frankly stunned that the seams are not reinforced, as they have a lot of weight to bear with such a long dress. FP, please get the QC kicked up a notch. I expect far better quality for these prices.

I doubt I can say anything about this dress that hasn't already been said. I've wanted this dress since they first introduced it 2 or 3 years ago, and I'm so glad I finally bought it. The fabric is soft and comfy-cozy, perfect for layering under chambray or flannel this winter. It looks great with boots. I am 5'8", 130 lbs, and while I usually get a small in Free People, I sized up to a medium. It fits perfectly in all areas, and is maybe a tad long to wear with flat sandals, but shouldn't be a problem with boots or heels. I think this will become a staple in my cold-weather wardrobe, and I can't wait to wear it!

I friggin' love this dress. It makes me feel like a hippie cult goddess. It is so nice to find a 100% cotton dress, and this is very soft cotton.
As for sizing, I'm 5'3" 108 A-cup....at first I ordered the xs. It fit like a glove but since I knew it was 100% cotton, I decided to send it back and get a small with the intention of shrinking it in the dryer. This worked PERFECTLY. The dress shrunk a ton, so the xs definitely would have ended up being too small. As others said, this dress is crazy long...but after the dryer, I only ended up cutting off maybe 3 inches.
So, if you are debating between sizes, I highly recommend going for the larger size and then shrinking it in the dryer.

I love this dress. I bought the charcoal and it fits me exactly as it does on the model, except that i bought a size medium, not a small. i'm 5'10 and the hem just touches the ground, which i love! the material is soft flowy and it fits me well across the chest (im a 34C)

I love cotton and wanted a maxi for cool, casual affairs. I can wear a M or L in FP, so I ordered the large, since I have a tummy (I'm 5'6" and 140 lbs). In this dress the sleeves were so tight I couldn't get them untwisted around to even be anywhere near right. And it was tight across my belly, which I was trying to disguise with a bit of a flowy loose fit. Which this wasn't. So it had to go back. I didn't even want to try an XL if it comes in XL.

I was really excited about the dress; I had read the previous reviews about it being very revealing and that every "lump and bump" would show but I wanted to give it a chance anyway. When I got it I was SOOO disappointed. Yes, it is very revealing and shows all "little flaws" such as my tummy, but I could work around that with the right underwear, wear a long top over it, etc.
The problem I had was that the fabric was a lot less soft/stretchy than the usual FP henley fabric; the fabric was also a lot thicker than I imagined and I got a "prison feeling" when I put the dress on, particularly around the arms! The colour (rosewood) was also different than in the pictures; I know it is hard to show the exact colour in a photo, particularly on a computer, but this was actually quite a bit different. It looks like a dusty, cool pink with a hint of purple in the photos, but in reality it was a lot more of an intense pink, not "dusty", not at all purple-ish. Would have given one star if it wasn't for the fact that it is well made and good quality despite the fabric. So, all in all, this dress was a big disappointment for me and it is definitely going back :o(
