For reference, I'm 5'10", size 4/S on top, size 6/M/28 on bottom. Shift dresses are my go-to. LOVED the colors on this dress and the peek-a-boo back, and which the rave reviews from other tall girls, I knew this would be a slam dunk.
I was sorely underwhelmed. The fabric, while heavier than most tissue-thin FP clothes, is NOT tapestry thick - it's still has a significant amount of stretch, which I don't prefer in a shift.
Another thing, this model photo was obviously very well-lit, but I found the gorgeous gem tones of this dress to be totally muddied in real life. Didn't do anything for my olive-ish skin tone.
Finally, I should have followed my gut and purchased a Small despite my bottom half because I find FP to be exceptionally generous in their sizing. But since I get a sz 28 in jeans, I went with the medium. And it was too big.
The peek-a-boo back was pretty. And the reviewers were right - this definitely is not too short for tall girls (hit me just below where it hits the model). But I'm sending back.

I own this dress, I was one of the first ones to buy it when it first came out. It is one of my favorite Free People dresses, worth every penny. I have worn it several times and got many compliments. It is very versatile, can be worn with boots or sandals -like the Romana Fest or Sarafina ones-.It fits loose and the back does not lay as flat during movement but it still is very attractive and looks expensive to the educated eye. I added 2 hooks in the upper part because I found that sometimes one of the 3 it comes with would become undone with movement, problem solved. If you like form-fitting dresses, this is not a dress for you.
