How To Start Your Return or Exchange (US only)

Locate Your Order

Click on Start A Return (US) or click on My Account and select Order History. From the Order Details page, click START A RETURN OR EXCHANGE.

Select Your Items

Locate the items you wish to return or exchange. If the item was a gift, check the Gift box to receive an e-gift card for the refund.

Get Your Return Label

Print your label and pack up your items. We’ll send you an email with your return tracking number.

Drop Off Your Return

Take your return to any USPS facility or schedule a pickup at www.usps.com. Select oversized items may be required to be returned via UPS. Please check your return label.

Receive Your Refund!

Once your return has been processed, we’ll send you a Return Notification email. Please allow 1-3 business days for refunds to be received to your original form of payment once processed.
SmartLabel® can be used for all US addresses including APO/FPO addresses and US Territories. Please contact Customer Service if returning hazerdous items. If located outside of the United States, please visit our international page.

We’ll gladly accept unworn, unwashed, or defective merchandise purchased on freepeople.com for return or exchange. Free People merchandise purchased at independent boutiques and department stores must be returned to the location where it was purchased. Please contact the individual boutique or store for their return policy. FP MART items must be returned directly to the seller. Items purchased in a Free People store must be returned to a Free People store. Items must include the attached Free People price tickets and be accompanied by the original store sales receipt.

If we receive your return at our warehouse within 30 days of delivery, we’ll credit your original form of payment. If it's received after 30 days, a Free People e-gift card will be issued. If you paid with a gift card or e-gift card, a new e-gift card in the amount of the credit will be issued and emailed to you accordingly. Please note: e-gift and gift cards cannot be returned or exchanged.

Please note: Free People is not responsible for non-Free People items shipped back to us in error.

Gift Returns
Use the Start A Return (US) link located in the footer on our website to print a return label. Enter the order number and billing zip code that was used to place the order. Make sure to check "This was a gift" and enter the email address that you wish the e-gift card to be sent to. Once the return is received, an e-gift card will be issued. For store purchases, returns with a gift receipt can be exchanged or refunded for the value indicated on the gift receipt and refunds will be made in the form of a merchandise credit.

Beauty and Wellness
We’re unable to process returns for opened and used Beauty and Wellness products. All Beauty and Wellness products purchased on freepeople.com must be returned unopened, unused, and in original condition and packaging to our Returns warehouse.

Beauty and Wellness products can only be returned to stores which carry Beauty and Wellness products. Items must be unopened and unused in order to accept the return. See our Store Locator to find a Beauty and Wellness store near you. Just look for the lipstick icon indicating the location is a Beauty and Wellness store.

Swim and Intimates
We’re unable to process returns for swimwear or intimate apparel items that have been worn or are returned in a soiled condition. All intimate apparel must be returned in original condition, with original packaging and tags attached. All swimwear must be in new and unused condition with sanitary strips in place.

Vintage Loves and Vintage Revival
Items from our Vintage Loves and Vintage Revival line cannot be returned. Please make your selections with care and review all product information and sizing before making a purchase. Need help or have questions? Please contact us.

FP MART + Vintage Items
Returns must be made directly to the seller. FP MART cannot be returned to Free People stores or to Free People's warehouse. If your item is eligible for return, a pre-paid return label will be included in all packages and should be used to return your item. We do not offer exchanges at this time, however please return the item and place a new order for a different size or color. If you need to contact the seller, visit your Order History to find a link to our messaging center next to the item.

Furniture and Oversized Items
Items may be returned for a refund or exchange within 30 days of delivery. Items must be returned in like-new condition with original packaging and materials. Customers are responsible for any return shipping costs. If received after 30 days, we’ll replace or refund your purchase for manufacturer defects only. Please call us at 800-309-1500 to let us know about your return.

US Customers - Ordered the wrong size or color? Visit our online returns portal for free even exchanges!

The item(s) you are exchanging must be received at our warehouse within 14 days of your exchange or your exchange order will be cancelled. Once our warehouse has received and processed your original order, your exchange order will begin processing. If any items are no longer in stock due to inventory changes, we will refund your original form of payment. If the exchange was submitted after 30 days from delivery of the original item, an e-gift card will be issued.

Unfortunately, we do not offer exchanges at this time for international orders. If located outside of the United States, please visit our international page for information on how to complete a return.

Items must be unworn with the FP Movement store price ticket attached. Returns with a gift receipt can be exchanged or refunded for a merchandise credit.

A one-time price adjustment will be granted with a receipt within 14 days of purchase.

We can only accept returns of unopened and unused Beauty & Wellness product.

If you received a gift from freepeople.com, click Start A Return (US) to print a pre-paid SmartLabel®. Select GIFT when processing your return in order to receive an e-gift card for your refund.

The original order number and Billing Zip code is required to process your gift return. If you don’t have this information, contact us or call us at 800-309-1500. To help us locate the gift order, we’ll need the first and last name for the person who purchased the gift and their email address (preferred).

We are unable to process returns at our warehouse for items purchased at a Free People store.

If you have purchased items that are now on sale, we will gladly offer you a one-time price adjustment if you contact us within 14 days of the original date of shipment or in-store purchase.

For online or phone orders, please call (800) 309-1500 or Contact us to request a price adjustment. We do not offer price adjustments on shipping charges.

For store purchases, please stop by your local store with your sales receipt. Visit our store locator to find the location nearest you.

We’re unable to offer price adjustments for temporary promotions or discounts. Promotions or discounts can’t be applied retroactively to orders placed before the promotion discount was activated. Credits will be applied back to the original form of payment. If you paid with a gift card or e-gift card, a new gift card or e-gift card will be issued for the amount of the credit.
