These boots are freaking amazing. I work in a clothing store and I get compliments on them from co-workers, customers, and random people on the street every time I wear them. I am 5'5", a size 12/L, with athletic legs (I played sports for years so my legs are not sticks by any means). I have absolutely no problem with them being too tight around my calves. At 5'5", they hit right above the knee. I have a wide foot and it took a couple of wears before they were totally broken in but I have been able to wear them from day one for my 9 hour shifts of constant standing at work with absolutely no problem. The price is a steal! Even on ebay, they are being sold for double this price. Great deal, super unique, well made! I am a buyer/manager for a clothing store that sells the most current new and consigned pieces and, let me tell you, in my 5 years of being a buyer for a super trendy store, I have never seen anything quite as cool as Steve Madden's new Freebird line. One more thing, I did have to have my boyfriend help me take them off at the end of the night the first few times I wore them. However, they are now broken in to the point that I can slip them off and on without unzipping them and I can get them off without any assistance. Also, they are pretty warm. So, great for colder climates. I live in Texas though so I will only be wearing them for a couple of months.

Beautiful boot. Exactly as pictured. I got it on the sale price plus my bday 15% off so it was definitely worth it. If you have chunky muscular calves like me......thhheeeyyy fffiiiittt! They fit with jeans too! the tapestry fabric is very nice and they certainly use a rugged zipper but not a problem for me. The leather on the boot is nice but a bit stiff on the foot. I hope they will soften up over time and will be the type of leather that actually looks better over time. We shall have to see but please note it is not so stiff that its painful to walk in(i also have wide feet).
My only complaint is there is no traction on the bottom. i actually found myself sliding slightly on my carpet when i first tried them on. Its pretty smooth on the bottom but there are traction pads you can purchase and stick them on. Im keeping the boots for the unique style and design, the good quality, and the true fit.

These are really fantastic boots. The leather is quality and the fit is comfy. They'll take a bit of breaking in, but not much. I have a wide foot and sized up, but I don't think I needed to as these are a bit loose. If anything I'd say they run a bit loose in the foot, not small. The fit at the top of the leg was more snug on me than on the model, but I'm also only 5'2", so the boots came up to a (relatively) higher (and thus larger) part of my leg than on the model. (halfway up my thigh v. just over my knee). My only hesitation in keeping these is they are so, so tall and on my short frame, it's a bit overwhelming. I need to walk around the apartment a bit. Really awesome though. Mine were exactly as pictured.

I love these boots. They leather lined on the inside. They do need a little time to break in but I have worn them almost everyday so that has not been a problem. I did have to go up a size based on other reviews and I am glad I did.

I have 16" claves and the listing states that the opening in 18" -- perfect I thought! I realize that they're tall and this size is more about the fashion than the function of the boot, but I was still disappointed when i could barely fit into these boots with leggings on. I could not get them to pull all the way up over jeans, and for this price you can't be so limited as to what to wear with them. The quality is really great though, they're nice, stiff leather that feels like it would soften and mold to you over time, and I would've loved for them to work. They just didn't.
Also I'm a 9.5 and I ordered the 9-- once I jammed my foot all the way in, this seemed like the right fit, foot-wise. A 10 would've been too big (but maybe allowed a little mor room in the legs)
