I ordered these in the black in my what I thought was my usual size of 9 or 40. I find that the shoe size details sometimes on the Free People website can be confusing. So I went to a website (Zappos) that specializes mainly in shoes to see what their size charts recommend for a US 9 in Euro sizes and it said 40 so that's what I ordered. Fortunately that was a great idea because a 39 would have been way to small and my toes would have had no room. Anyway, I got to wear them around the house so far and they feel very comfortable. They look amazing on. The distressing is so cool! I know I'm going to get a lot of wear out of these babies when the weather get's nicer and they will go with everything like some of the kimonos that just came on the website and basically any of the slips and dresses you see on this website. I definitely recommend ordering a size up.

I'm typically a size US7, EU37. I ended up ordering a size EU38 after reading reviews. I think a 37 would still be a better fit, but the 38 is not giving me any trouble. (I can tell they're a teensy bit large, but no one else can.)
The shoes are very comfortable, but make sure you don't tie the straps too tight, they can chafe the top of your foot.
Other than that these shoes are perfect and versatile for many outfits.

They're so cool! I love them...the only thing is i have to use them to stop sliding on the floor...!! lol! The sole is really ...unruffled...also dangerous!

Such a cute sandal. I usually wear a 7.5 / 38 in FP shoes, but got a 39 after reading other reviews. Couldn't even fit my feet in them! What a shame...

I fell in love as soon as I saw these online.
Thank you previous reviewers, for giving me the heads' up about sizing up. I generally wear a size 7 - 7 1/2 and ordered these in the 37 and 38 to be sure. The 37 had me feeling like the wicked step sisters from Cinderella...I couldn't stuff my foot in! Even the 38 is tighter than I am used to, but the leather is so soft that I believe, with repeated wearings, they'll stretch. And I do plan to wear them repeatedly! The brown hue is true to the photos on the web. The style is unique, feminine and flattering to the foot. I haven't debuted them outside the house yet (will the winter never end?) and they are VERY slippery on the bottom as a result. But one scratch on the pavement and they'll be street ready.

these shoes are definitely cute but they aren't super comfy. The toe is PLENTY long enough but it isn't tall enough to accommodate my toes, so there is space at the front but it presses down on my toenails. Maybe I can try to get it stretched at the toe to be a little roomier.

As always, don't trust conversion charts. EUR 39 does not equal US 8.5. I have past experience with this. If you're US 8.5, order the EUR 40, like I did.
I love how these are fully adjustable, so you can get them to fit as snug as you like. However, I'm disappointed there's no tread on the bottom. I slip and slide around on the floor quite a lot. I'm also nervous that the leather strings lacing it together may break in the future -- they don't seem to be very strong.
One last thing -- I ordered the black version. They aren't really black at all, more like a dark brown.
Overall I feel like these are way overpriced for what you get, but I've never seen a shoe like this before, and I had to have it.

I watched these for about a month before purchasing. I wanted to see what others thought. I am a size 8 normally. I ordered a 38 in cognac. They fit and probably would stretch over time. But I would go up a size if I loved them. They look much more polished in the pictures than in person to me. In person it looks like a shoe I'd rather purchase for less at a market. The bottoms also don't have too much traction- so when trying on and walking in my house- tile- my feet slipped. I'd imagine they look best on a skinny foot. Not my favorite so I'll return!
