Rated 2 out of 5 by Bummed out. Received this in the mail today and the very thing that I always dread when I try FP jackets on, once again came to fruition. The arms are too tight! I have seen it in others reviews on the sight as well. Love you guys but it might be time to revaluate and recut your jacket patterns for your size six and above customers so they are suited for real people who are over 125 lbs. I ordered a size eight so that I could layer in winter. Well, I tried it on with just a tank top and I can't even lift my arms! And mind you, I am a pretty small girl. I also have to note that there was a scuff on the back and two perfect pin holes as if it had been pricked with a tag machine or something. Otherwise, nice soft leather and style... 9.6.2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great fit and color. Questionable quality. Pros: 1) Beautiful color - a deep oxblood that almost looks purple in certain lighting. 2) Fit is perfect. For reference I'm 33-27-33; bra 32D; 5'1"; 105 lbs. The size 0 fits well. Jackets small enough to fit my shoulders, arms, and waist are usually too tight in the bust. The slim fit of the shoulders and arms on this jacket are very flattering without being constricting; also fits comfortably in the bust and waist with enough room for a sweater underneath in colder weather. 3) The description doesn't mention this, but there is wiring inside the edge of the leather around the collar and front to allow for custom shaping - similar to that in Muubaa leather jackets. Cons: 1) Questionable leather quality: While I realize this jacket is casual and semi-distressed, there are several areas where the leather is discolored (and doesn't appear intentional). Also, because several panels were stitched together in the back, it's especially noticeable that two of the panels are completely different shades - one much darker than the other. 2) The leather is soft, but definitely not as high quality as some of the lamb leather jackets around similar price points. It also has a chemical smell, although I expect this will improve with wear. That said, the fit of this jacket makes up for the shortcomings in quality. I'm giving this jacket another chance and ordering another one in the hopes that I received one that slipped through quality control. 10.9.2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by I wish I could have kept this I got this in the maroon color, and it is a gorgeous jacket. Beautiful leather, true to size, flattering even zipped up, and I am a 34D. The reason I sent it back was the lining. It is made of a cheap thin black muslin fabric, and I knew it would not last the life of the jacket. In fact I had a feeling it would tear when I was getting my arms into the sleeves. I don't get why an otherwise impeccable piece with a price to match, would be made with this poor quality lining. It hurt me to return it. (Other Indian-made products have this same weird issue - intricate carved wooden boxes will have the worst quality hinges, for example. It's sad.) 11.26.2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Cute, Not Very Black I bought this jacket to wear on my motorcycle. It blocks the wind very well, but the leather is pretty thin and like the other reviews said, its definitely more of a grey/washed black color. I think Ill get the red one too, but in a smaller size since the bottom wiring makes it stick out from my body when its not sipped up. Overall I really like it, the leather is super soft! 10.13.2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by so utterly disappointing First off, this item was backordered for three months for my size, so of course anticipation was almost unbearable. Once the item did finally arrive, I had to double-check to ensure I actually ordered what I thought I was ordering from the catalog photo. The catalog shows a classic black leather biker jacket with a bit of a shine. What I did get was a dull, dull black, almost grey with absolutely NO leather shine. The leather is supple, but it is distressed. Even adding some leather polish will not add any shine. The catalog image and website image for the product is either photoshopped to make the item look better than it is or it's a different item entirely. The difference is that extreme. Aside from the finish (which I could live with), the jacket apparently has thin wiring in the seams to add shape. It's highly annoying as what it does is bunch the jacket up in some unsightly areas and really restricts any lived-in quality you'd expect from a broken-in leather jacket. And for $400, you better believe I expect a significant life expectancy for that investment. The lining is atrocious. It's a thin cloth sheeting that will invariably rip or fray with any continuous use. Highly disappointing, considering the price point. Fit is adequate outside of the arms being cut excessively slim. This right here was the dealbreaker for me. If I could return the jacket, I definitely would - but unfortunately tried to break it in to make it more aesthetically pleasing/fitting and just found that I couldn't make it work (not with all the other flaws). Very disappointing all around - for the price, I expect a much better garment from FP. 7.6.2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mostly happy! I reside within the UK. I am 5.10 and slim. I usually wear a size 8-10 (UK) which is a size 4 (US). I originally ordered the size 4 (US) which should have fitted but when it arrived and I tried it on it was too big. I returned the jacket and re-ordered the size 2 (US)! The jacket now fits perfectly! I am not normally a size 2(US) which is a size 6 (UK) and in my opinion the jacket runs large! This jacket is definitely not the beautiful dark blue/black it shows in the photos! The description does not call it washed black or faded black, which would make more sense than just black. I would say the jacket is a washed black as opposed to grey (Suggested by another review) I have ordered many items from FreePeople before and would say that the colour is often quite different from the colours in the pictures! The lining is quite cheap which is surprising for such an expensive leather jacket. Also the collar has one sided snaps that don't actually snap to anything? The jacket is very soft and silky and feels amazing on! However I did notice straight away (after close inspection) that the jacket has a small mark/tear) on the right cuff next to the zip. It isn't very noticeable but should not be there! I was going to send it back but decided not too as it was such a long wait for the jacket second time around! I am going to treat it with leather cleaner and hope for the best! FreePeople I hope in future you will address the issue with your colours as well as sizing! Thanks. Cat 6.9.2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by So Disappointing I shop at free people all the time and I usually love everything I get, but this exception was so bad I felt the need to write my first review. I have been wanting a black leather moto jacket for a long time, and I finally decided this one looked great so I splurged. It came in the mail yesterday and I was so excited to open it, but equally disappointed when I did. First of all, it came crumpled and pushed into a plastic bag and I had to attempt to smooth the leather a lot when I took it out. Something this expensive should probably at least come in a box to avoid damage. Then I noticed that this jacket is definitely not the beautiful dark blue/black it shows in the photos, it is very gray. The description does not call it washed black or faded black, which would make more sense, just black. Then came another laundry list of problems; the lining is cheap and uncomfortable, the collar has one sided snaps that don't actually snap to anything (another cheap design decision), and worst of all the Leather is very poor quality, it practically looked fake. I love you free people, but this was a huge miss. 4.17.2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Classic Love this jacket. One got returned to the store I work at and I fell in love. It is awesome, and such a nice simple biker jacket. The leather is so soft and beautiful. I have to say though, it runs a size large, I am usually a size am a size 4 and the 2 fits with room. But I love it. Perfect staple motor jacket for any fashionistas closet. 2.25.2014
