I've been searching for a pair of grey boots for a long time and fell in love with these. Â Sooooo pricey though. Â Ended up obsessively visiting them on line on a daily basis like some kind of deranged boot stalker. The insanity ended when I spotted them on sale on another website and I pounced like a cheetah on steroids. Â I didn't get these at FP, but am writing a review for other FPholics, as I really appreciate the reviews that others write here.
Pros: Â These boots are well made. Â The leather is thick and durable, and there has been obvious attention to making the woven patterns on both boots identical so you have a matching set. Â The design of the boot is like fine architecture. Â There are many subtle details that make it look and stand beautifully. Â The toes are curved up, and the slant of the top as well as the curve of the calf all make this boot very flattering. Â The opening at the top is wider than many boots, so it is easier to tuck skinnies or leggings in. Â The heel is a comfortable height.
Cons: Â These were not comfortable out of the box. Because the leather is thick and sturdy, they required a breaking in period. The curve of the toe looks really nice, but you can feel it pushing down on your foot a lot at first. It does soften up with wear, but it's pretty noticeable at first. Â I had an issue with the heel of one boot, but the website I ordered it from and Freebird fixed it (such awesome service and wish I could recommend them on this site but can't for obvious reasons). The boots are very comfortable now, and I love them.Â
Other notes:  I am normally a 6.5 with socks and the 7's in these fit me well.  If you are a half size I recommend sizing up.  If you have a wide foot you may have to size up too or get these stretched because of the shape of the toe.  I am 5"2, and can feel the tops of these on the  back of my thighs sometimes when I sit down.  If you are shorter, this might be an issue.
Every pair of these is going to be different. Â Mine are a bit darker grey than the photo, and the distressing is less contrasty. Â There is more red trim in the diamond along the sides making the pattern stand out more, but it's also less neutral.
These are also known as Freebird Aztek boot, if you are looking for more photos or deals on line. Â Â

I originally saw these boots at the Steve Madden store in my town, but they only had them in tan. I came to this site and got them, and they look EXACTLY like the do in the pic. They are extremely comfortable, and every time I wear them I get compliments. I am six feet tall, and they look perfect!!! I even got the skinny jeans with the tears in them to look like the pic. I love them and even my fiance, who thinks everything is a fad, loves them. The sole is great quality, and I am positive I will enjoy my Freebirds for years to come!

I jest received my boots and love them!! They are basically true to size, however I did give them that they ran a little small because of ankle not having a zipper. I kinda had to push and pull to get them on and off, but once on ,they fit beautifully and looked amazing! I kinda have an athletic calves and sometimes boots can be a little snug in that area for me, but I had no problem there with these and actually have extra room.

I'm seriously in love with these boots and am so happy to have gotten them on sale. I ordered the black/grey color in an 8 (I take a size 7-8 in shoes and an 8 in boots) and they fit perfectly--very true to size. I was seriously worried that I'd end up needing a 9 as I've read quite a few reviews saying Freebird boots run small, but I did not find this to be the case at all. Granted I don't have a wide foot, but I don't have a narrow foot either. I have a really nice amount of room with a thin sock, but a thicker sock should definitely work as well. The color of the boots is exactly as pictured (don't know why they're called "black" and the only difference on mine is that the blanket detailing on the back isn't black/white at the tip, but rather more red/yellow... guessing it varies from boot to boot) and they look great. My one complaint would be that mine came a little banged up with a few misc black marks (doesn't look like it's just the "distressing"... maybe from water?) and without a box, but nothing serious enough for me to want to send them back. I happened to come across a pair of the taupe colored ones in my size as well somewhere else, so I ended up ordering those too and cannot wait to get them! The boots are incredibly unique, so I'd say they're well worth the money at full price let alone on sale. :)
