There's So Much Hidden Beauty in this Dress

"I originally was attracted to this dress because I adore flamingos, and anytime I find a good black & pink combination that honors their plumage, I jump for it. The fabric looks like a simple print in the photograph, but in reality, it's more three-dimensional, with satin flowers and raised applique-like vines winding through the blossoms, in elegant black-on-black. A chiffon edging defines the sweetheart neckline, and adds subtle, but essential, interest. The classic cut of the dress is soooo flattering. It's the ultimate gift of simplicity! The length is perfect for my height of 5'9". When wearing 2" heels, the filmy fabric allows my toes to peek through as I walk; when barefoot, it's a princess-length, floaty fantasy. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but the hem of my dress is slightly asymmetrical. Almost as though the fabric was cut on a long bias, it drapes lower on the right side, exposing the solid black lining. This bothered me at first, but as I waltzed around the house, it soon became a quirk that I fell in love with. After all, the heavier-weight chiffon of the lining is almost as lovely as the patterned outer layer. I can't say enough about this dress. It's one of those items that took me by surprise, in a good way, with all of its understated design ingredients. I've worn it with leather jackets, chunky jewelry, and boots, and also with delicate jewelry, sandals, and vintage beaded sweaters. It's truly a year-round, versatile dress. And something about it feels irresistibly, retro-glamorous Hollywood."

"The fabric is gorgeous, the dress fits well and has adjustable straps. I usually wear a size 6 dress, I am short (5'3") and the small is great on me. I may need to get it hemmed a little bit. I love the pink on black - this dress can be dressed up or down, very pretty & comfortable. Love it!!"
