Old Gym Shirt Dress

"When I ordered this dress I was sure I was going to love it. Conceptually this dress should have been amazing. I tried on both a small and an extra small. Both of them were unflattering. The fabric just doesn't hang well, maybe because it doesn't have enough weight. If you have a smaller waist this does make your waist look great but from the waist down it made me look frumpy. My bottom looked huge and I have a practically non-existant butt to start out with. I know there are supposed to be holes in the fabric but they just further detract from the dress. It makes the dress look like it is made of your old gym shirt. The holes are substantial enough that you can see bare skin through them. Returned both sizes. Nothing redeeming about this dress : ("

What Color Will I Recieve???Honestly

"Shakuhachi makes this dress 3 colors: Marle (which is probably what the 1st reviewer recieved), Charcoal (FP pics color), and Black. Free people should define the color that is going to be sent. They are presenting the charcoal in their catalog and online pictures and their Video shows the Marle. One should be able to choose! not just receive a surprise or disappointment. Why does FP display 2 colors and doesn't define them for the customer. You don't know what your purchasing."

Hi There!
We received the incorrect color from the vendor on our first order of this dress, which arrived in March. We were supposed to receive the Charcoal, but we received the Marle. The batch that we just got in is the correct color, the Charcoal, which is depicted. Hope this helps!

Sadly disappointed!

"The biggest disappointment was the color. In the photos here and on the Shakuhachi website, the dress looks like a dark charcoal gray. However, it's actually a lighter heather gray, nothing like the photo! So different that when I opened my FP package, I didn't know what the item was. Second, the dress was slightly too big. I ordered the XS and when I received it, it was a size 2 from the maker. It did not hug my body the way it does the model. It was somewhat baggy in places. It bunched in the front where the twist is and where it gathers in the back above the rump, sticking out from the side view in these places. The elastic in the back definitely holds the dress in place. I'm 5'3" and the length was barely touching the floor. Perfect with heels! If you're okay with a lighter gray and can order down a size, you'll be happy. Great design just not what I expected :("
