For those with skinny to no calves only!
omg! i have muscular calves but there is NO way i could even think about zipping these up. There was like a good 2 inches at least of more material needed for someone with any meat or muscle. For skinny legs only! They are going right back!
Zipper so stiff, wouldn't zip up
When I finally got my foot in one shoe, I couldn't get the zipper up at all. I don't know if the zipper is faulty but I loosened the entire lacing to make sure I had enough room and it still wouldn't go up. Even on it's own I couldn't.
Nice looking gladiator sandal. I received several compliments about how nice they look and have no buyers regret. Although they are lovely to look at, it takes me a little extra time to lace them up, but I think the extra time taken is well worth the it. The only thing I would suggest is to place some sort of sole protectors on the sandal or avoid rough surfaces in hopes of extending the life of the sandal. They are keepers and are beautiful gladiator sandals especially for showing off your legs.
Not Worth It.
I bought these sandals to go with a tea length dress that I'm wearing to a wedding. First I must describe the nightmare of trying to get these laced and on correctly. I am a very capable person and work with my hands, but these had me in a sweaty cursing ball of fury and took almost a half hour to get them on right (one was laced up totally wrong in the first place). If you dare to try these sandals out, I suggest taking out the surprisingly stiff, thick, curling leather laces out completely first. The laces are carelessly sewn in lengths to make one very long piece. It was really hard to lace these up without breaking the laces. The footbed is too long in the toe, which you can see in the photos, and the straps that goes over your foot is so narrow it was almost impossible to get my foot in at all. The sole is so slippery on the bottom that I felt like I was ungracefully ice skating across my rugs with each step. I have quite skinny legs, and there was BARELY enough room to lace the sandals up (also shown in the photos). And with my tea length dress on it looked like I had swollen, bandaged legs that were stumpy and weird. These would ONLY look good with something short on. And lastly, they are horribly uncomfortable. To keep up the sandals, the laces have to be fitted against your legs, but the laces dig in so bad with each awkward step that it's painful. So don't even try to squat or bend your legs too much... because you can't with these on! Sent. Back.
GREAT FOR SKINNY CALVES
Im 115lbs and 5'2 and have normal calves close to skinny. My actual size is 7.5. better size down. This is really hard to put on (approximately 10mins per foot). At first i freaked out coz it won't zip up all way and I was like "no waayyy! gotta work these out i waited for three weeks for these!" I learned the hard way zipping it up. The technique is YOU GOTTA LOOSEN ALL THE STRINGS FOR UR LEGS TO GET IN. Careful on untying the strings... the flakes are coming out. You wanna make sure your 148$ lasts. To be honest these are worth for just 100$. These are better than gladiator sandals from aldo though.
Great for skinny legs
Okay....I couldn't find reviews for these sandals anywhere. First I must say, I have very skinny calves. Now the details- I'm 5'6, range in weight from 100-105lbs and my foot measures a little over 9.5 inches. I ordered the sz 40 for reference. Perfect fit in footbed with just a little room. Now for the tricks- You will need to completely pull the laces apart to get your foot into the shoe. It took me about 10 minutes to do this for each sandal. The largest part of my calf is just about 3.5-4 inches max. I took extra special care in zipping them up. This took another few minutes to avoid accidentally pinching my skin in the zipper. Once I got them on I absolutely loved them! The details are gorgeous. I bought the gray but the tan are on the way so, I can't comment on the stitching colors for the tan yet. They have no foot support so, this is not an all day walking shoe. As for medium size to larger calves, sorry....these may not work for you. I can only hope these are going to stretch just a bit. If you look at the photos closely, the model in the tan pair was able to wrap the lace at her calf. On the model in gray, the laces are knotted at the top of the calf. I don't want to constantly worry the zippers will pinch my skin. On the upside....finally!!!! A gladiator that works for skinny legged gals. Yes!!! My 4 stars were based on level of difficulty in getting them un laced and tied. I just received the tan. While the stitching is nice, it's not as vibrant as in the photos and there was some black smudges on the embroidery of one of the sandals. That being said, I love the gray much better and feel they'll go with more items in my wardrobe.
Skinny calves will love these!
I have been hunting for an alternative to the Romana Fest floral gladiators forever so....I ordered both of these sandals. For reference, I am 5'6, 100-105lbs, my foot measures approximately 9.5 inches and the widest part of my calf under my knee is 3.5-4 inches max. I ordered the size 40 in both. Since I've only received the Gray combo so far, I'm going to say they are tts. I'm typically an 8.5-9.5 depending on the shoe. Now onto the details- The stitching on the gray is beautiful and they are well made. The zipper is sturdy and I had no issues with it staying up. There is no sole support so do not plan on walking in these all day. Now the tricky parts- You will need to completely unlace these shoes to get them on. I had to take particular care in zipping them up to avoid the zipper catching my skin. That being said, these are definitely for skinny legged gals. I am hoping they will stretch a bit as I am concerned about pinching my skin with the zipper and note, I have super skinny legs. I'll post a pic below once I get the Tan. My 4 stars reflect the difficulty and time it took me to get these on. Aside from that, these gladiators are gorgeous and worth every penny!!
