I am desperately in love with the style of these flats. They do require a bit of effort to get on with the backs up though. Ive found that if you slide your foot in as far as it will go- as if youre going to wear them as mules, and then just sort of reach under your heel and pull the backs up, it works. And it gets a little easier each time as the backs are very floppy. It's only a mild annoyance considering how chic these are on. I pray daily to the shoe gods that FP re-stocks the taupe color.
Love these but....
I recently purchased these in the black. I absolutely love them. Quality is great and leather is amazingly soft. Simple, but modern and just what I was looking for. I typically wear a 39, but these seem to run small. I could have went with a 40 for sure. I agree with other reviews in that I can't get this shoe on to wear other than with the back down as a mule. That being said, I haven't tried a shoe horn as other suggested. There is really little to no "give" at all in the shoe opening and it is rather small. Hoping the shoe horn does the trick. Still, I love them as a slip on. Can't go wrong, especially for the sale price. Would have given them a 5 star for sure if I could have easily worn them both ways!
I like them
Yes, like, not love. They are an awesome shoe for the sale price. At first I ordered the taupe in my normal size, but they were small and tight. So I ordered the next size up in the black and I really like them. They are comfortable and they are very foot flattering. The fold down heel part is really cool too. I haven't tried to wear these as actual booties, I will need a shoe horn to do that! But I am looking forward to getting one so I can. Great staple piece for a great price.
They are decidedly very simple but they are surprisingly versatile and there is something rather interesting/unusual about the style. I purchased my usual size (7.5/38) and while they are (as others have reported) a bit snug upon entry, they are not difficult to wear, that is to say too tight for comfort. The leather is quite supple and I think they will stretch a bit over time and become easier to put on. I am hoping that over time the leather will wear well and develop character.
LOVE these shoes!
Like some of the other reviewers, they are a little tight to get on but I haven't really had an issue. They're so versatile and I love that I can wear them as slip ons or with the back. I'm tempted to buy another pair in taupe. I definitely recommend these for an everyday use.
Nice and easy
I have the black and the taupe and think they're great little slip on and go shoe. In my job, I never know when I have to meet clients and it's so easy to just pop these on to finish any outfit and run out the door. I love the look of a heel, but don't like actually wearing them and these flat MULES do quite nicely. Also, as they're mules, the backs are meant to be stepped on, but a slim shoehorn works if you want actually step in to these with the back of the shoe up. Adorable. One in red please!
Porter Slip On Mule
I love these shoes! It is true what others are saying about the small opening of these shoes, however I use an inexpensive shoe horn and they slip right on my feet. These shoes are made of a super soft comfortable leather, and the style is nice because these shoes fit snug to your feet. This is probably part of the reason for the design of the small opening. These shoes fit true to size. I am a size 6 and purchased a size 36 I have gotten lots of compliments on these shoes!
Really wanted them to work
I bought these knowing I would probably have to wear them with the back folded down. Regardless, I tried my very best to get my foot in all the way and eventually did! So, it is possible, but not exactly the easiest thing in the world. However, even with my foot only slid in with the back down, there just isn't enough room between the insole and the top of the shoe for a foot! The leather is so soft and malleable, but it actually is a negative with this shoe because of the lack of height throughout - it shows everything! Toes, instep... It's really strange. The concept is there, the execution is just a bit off.
