I also want to thank the first reviewer for these boots who suggests to size down when purchasing these boots! I am between US size 6 and 6.5 for boots so I usually go for 37 in EU size for extra comfort. But I took the advise and bought the 36 and they are PERFECT! I still have room for thicker socks! :) The boots are very nicely made. The leather is soft and seems sturdy. I am 5'5" and the shaft goes about 1.5" above my knee cap. The only reason i gave it a four stars rating is becaus the front panal on top of the foot that goes up to about the ankle area seems a little stiff. I hope it won't be irritating if i have to walk a lot in them. Other than that, it is very nice!
So i 'm so happy for the person who gave the first review on these boots! I have a few pair of Vic Matie boots and I have found that the sizing is a bit different in shoe to shoe. So thanks for the advise on the sizing. I uaually wear a 37, but I ordered the 36 and was so happy I fallowed the first review. Thanks for that, they fit perfect. I LOVE LOVE this boot and how well constructed and beautifully crafted. They are pricy but worth every penny!
Expensive, gorgeous, comfortable, not too narrow
Well, these are pricey, but they're special and excellent quality. I am a 40/41, US 9-10 (Jeffrey Campbell average 9.5). I've tried other Vic Matié boots and have found the 41 to fit me best usually, but in these the 40 was better. Perhaps it's because it's a flat style and has a roomy square toe. I wasn't sure I would like that exaggerated sole, but in reality the overall impression is definitely on the right side of quirky, though I'm have to say that with all that chunkiness, the 41s made my feet look enormous, but the impression with the 40s was much better, so I'd probably advise trying a smaller size if you're in between. There was negligible difference in the height and calf width of the boot in the different sizes. The leather is stretchy and I found it easily and quite flatteringly fit my average calves and my less-than-svelte knees. You can wear them pulled up over the knee or rumpled a little lower, still looking sleek. I think they will stay up on slimmer legs too.
