Let’s think back to 2001, and an iconic MTV VMAs look donned by pop Icon Britney Spears… and well, we won’t mention that other guy. Britney was dressed in denim from head to toe, in a body-hugging denim maxi dress. In that moment, they paved the way for the resurgence of denim dressing for years to come. At one time relegated to western wear, and then as a classic 70s jacket/jean pairing, denim-on-denim outfits took on a whole new philosophy and never looked back.

This may go without saying, but denim-on-denim outfitting starts from the bottom. A classic pair of jeans makes all the difference. From this base layer, you can style back to an easy denim jacket or a cool denim button-down.
