I Tried It: “I’m-Excited-About-My-Future-Self” Cream

Ageless skin for the win.

Let me be honest about something – I am not an authority on skincare.

In fact, I was raised on a very “less is more” philosophy regarding what’s now lovingly called beauty and wellness. My skincare regimen consisted of olive oil soap (which we’ll discuss in a future editorial) and probiotic-rich foods. Maybe some witch hazel… So yeah, not an authority.

Short of revealing my age, believe me when I say I am getting older. Of course we all are, but I’m (reluctantly) moving into that space where the big picture is the current picture. And though most people guess that I’m about 5-10 years younger than the calendar states (if they’re being honest!), I think a lot about the changes in my skin’s appearance.

Basically, I don’t look as fresh-faced in the morning, despite getting a consistent 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Smile and frown lines tend to kind of just hang out these days, unwilling to go explore (i.e. disappear), no matter how much water I drink or how many facial exercises I experiment with… For the first time in basically forever, I started considering what products might be out there to help me transition a bit more gracefully into this “more mature” phase of life.

Call it anti-aging, ageless skin – that’s what I’m hoping to achieve, but in the gentlest way possible. And as it turns out, Youth To The People was already thinking about someone like me – and my Future self.

I TRIED IT

YTTP’s Future Cream came highly recommended from our Beauty Buyer. Knowing that I am very considerate of what I eat and apply, she gave no pause to sharing a jar with me.

The instructions were easy enough – wash as you normally do (for me, that’s usually just at night, for better or worse), add serums/toners, then liberally apply and rub in said Future Cream. YTTP touts “firmer and more hydrated skin, diminished lines” as a result – would it do that for me?

The quick answer – a big Yes.

The first morning I decided to try out the Future Cream, I got sidelined by early am emails, so that initial application went on after breakfast – a quick meet-up with my bathroom mirror where I was able to verify the many reviews which read that this Future Cream was super lightweight, with a very subtle scent (which I couldn’t necessarily pinpoint). A welcome feeling, as I was concerned that my generally oily complexion might hit hyperdrive with anything too dense.

I may have scooped a little more from the pot on this go-round than necessary, so after massaging the cream into my face and neck (which absorbed super fast), I donated the excess to the back of my hands, which are also showing signs of age. Spread the love, as they say.

I went about my work, noticing only an ever-so-slight tightening of my face in the minutes that followed.

"
What proved fascinating to me, in only about half an hour – the slight wrinkle that normally traverses the middle of my forehead became hardly visible. And my skin, on both my face and hands, looked very “fresh” – not oily by any means, but gently dewy, a glow that carried me through the remainder of the day."

No doubt in part to Future Cream’s primary polypeptide 121, a vegan collagen peptide (amino acid) produced by way of bacterial fermentation which may increase skin's resilience. And the presence of ceramides – fats that comprise 30%-40% of your epidermis – aid in retaining skin's moisture, hence that dewy glow.

Fast forward a few days, and those nearly immediate results kept up with appearances, and yielded exactly what I was looking for – less pronounced wrinkles, and a more glow-y, even-toned complexion. And my HANDS! I don’t wince watching them as I type, at least not as much as I used to.

Now about those grays…
