STYLING 101:

How I Wore This Slip 100 Ways

Girl wearing slip dresses multiple ways

Well, actually 9 ways. But the In This Groove made a cameo in every outfit this week.

Nostalgic of our favorite 90s outfits, Team FP is full of creative slip dress styling ideas. There is something just so special about layering, experimenting, and mixing pieces that you mightn’t necessarily think go together. Innerwear can be outerwear; ultra-femme styles can be edgy; sleepwear can be professional and polished.

We styled our favorite In This Groove Mini Slip nine different ways, ranging from casual to more elevated looks, designed to help you style your slips no matter the season or occasion…and, even every day.

SLIP LOOK #1: CASUAL

For an easy on-the-go look, I paired this striped tee over the slip and cinched the waist with a sweatshirt. I love adding a small tie detail to my waist instead of adding a belt. Layering a tee over a slip is a classic way to make the style more casual and feels so effortless and cool.

SLIP LOOK #2: NAUTICAL

Since I was 16, I’ve always had a little bit of prep to my style. For this slip, I paired a striped button-down layered under a sweater, styling the slip more like a skirt. I added these boat shoes to really top off the total nautical prep girl I have always been.

SLIP LOOK #3: PINTEREST DUPE

One of my favorite pins features an oversized long-sleeve striped tee belted over a slip, so I wanted to recreate that here. I used this tee and vintage belt from my wardrobe to treat the slip like a skirt. I wanted to keep this effortless, so I paired it with this elevated sandal.

SLIP LOOK #4: COOL + FEMME

One thing about me–I am always in jeans. I love balancing more femme pieces with the “boyish.” Different proportions are always fun when dressing up, so I thought I’d layer this slip over a pair of jeans. For sheer slips, pairing with jeans also makes for an easy way to create everyday wear. To complete the look, I added this graphic crewneck to give the outfit a bit of edge and threw on a black pair of easy flip-flops.

SLIP LOOK #5: UTILITARIAN

Everyone has been loving cargos recently. I feel like utility is really back! These cargos, the Onset Parachute Pants, are so lightweight and fun to style with. Mixing lightweight slips with more utility styles is a way to add contrast and texture to your look. To add a little bit of edge, I threw this simple cashmere sweater over my shoulder and a matching pair of flip-flops.

SLIP LOOK #6: MONOCHROME

I always love a monochrome outfit, and white is a spring-summer go-to for me. I’ve been loving all the different trouser shapes we’ve been getting at FP, and wanted to pair one of those with this slip. These trousers feel simple, but still elevated. I added a simple suede flat as my shoe and feel like this is basically my everyday outfit. Finding pieces that match the colors of your slips is an easy way to create a cohesive, put-together look.

SLIP LOOK #7: SUMMER STAPLE

Philadelphia summers are no joke, so when it comes to getting dressed, less is usually best. Slips are always a staple for me in the summer, and I loved putting this one with these longer jean shorts for a super approachable feel. To balance the two, I added a simple flat with a bit of character with that split-toe shape, and I’ll probably be wearing this every day once the temperature hits 75. You can also style your slips solo or layer them over your favorite linen shorts for a summer-friendly style.

SLIP LOOK #8: RUNWAY

I am always sourcing outfit inspiration–from Vogue to Pinterest to the runway. One of my favorite brands to watch is Isabel Marant, and they do an amazing job at balancing pieces you might not naturally pair together. I wanted to pair our dainty slip with these more distressed jeans for a cool juxtaposition. I’ve been loving suede in all seasons and wanted to add on a cool boot to tuck the jeans into, really diving into the Marant vibe.

SLIP LOOK #9: NIGHT OUT

This is the perfect night out look. An easy slip with a cool leather jacket feels so effortless, and I love adding this studded clog to feel cool and different. Adding on the Emerson tote, I’ve perfectly balanced this femme and rugged look.
