Skincare For Boobs

By: Allie White

Because your (.)(.) deserve attention, too.

Sure, you extend your facial skincare products down your neck and maybe even onto your collar bones because you know you’re supposed to. But what about the skin that sits just below? Yup, we’re talking about your breasts: also part of your skin, therefore also requiring skincare. And yet, too many of us mammarily-blessed neglect to care for that part of our glorious bodies.

Luckily, it’s pretty easy to show them some TLC, too, and not just by dragging your facial care further south. From hydrating balms to exfoliating brushes, read on for how to keep the girls (or whatever you call ‘em) well-taken care of.
If you love luxury (and lymphatic drainage)…
Take your boobs to the spa with Foria Breast Oil, a luxurious blend that includes organic jojoba, MCT, and evening primrose oils. Use it to nourish and soften the skin, but also use it for daily breast massages: if you experience breast congestion or pain, the herbal oil can help stimulate the lymphatic system and improve circulation — a boob detox, if you will.

If you want to take care of your boobs in French…
Je ne sais pas what’s in this stuff but it’s got that je ne sais quoi. Just kidding, we know exactly what’s in the Nuxe Shower Oil: primarily sweet almond and macadamia oils When combined with water, the shower oil transforms into a creamy lather that gently cleanses and nourishes skin without stripping its natural oils. Make like the French and bring a baguette into the shower too, while you’re at it.

If you want sun protection…
The skin on your chest and boobs is thinner than the rest of your body (not quite as thin as the skin around your eyes but close, and you know how delicately you’re supposed to care for that area…), which means it also starts to age and show sun damage faster. We already know how important daily SPF is but if you want a little something extra with your sun protection, Supergoop!’s Glow Oil SPF 50 is a lightweight, non-greasy, broad-spectrum option that protects your skin without feeling like sunscreen and leaves behind a gorgeous glow.

If you want to care for the girls from the inside out…
Looking to support skin health internally? Vida Glow Collagen Sticks are your secret weapon. These convenient powder sticks are packed with marine collagen peptides that can help improve skin elasticity and hydration. Mix one into your morning coffee or smoothie for a boost that benefits your whole body, boobs included!

If you (rightly) acknowledge that nipples are extremely important…
Don’t skimp on nipple care! Though the HATCH Nipple & Lip Rescue Balm is marketed to new moms who may be dealing with the nipple-based fallout of nursing, this multitasking marvel is for anyone with nipples. Packed with soothing ingredients like mango butter and avocado oil, this balm hydrates and protects the most sensitive skin, whether it’s on your chest or elsewhere (i.e. this stuff is great on as a lip balm or to soothe tricky dry patches elsewhere on your body).

If you believe in the power of dry brushing…
When it comes to dry brushing, not all tools are created equal. Case in point: the HigherDOSE Supercharge Copper Body Brush. Sure, this body brush helps you accomplish smoother, more radiant skin from neck to nips like many others on the market, but as the name suggests, this one is supercharged. The ion-charged bristles wake up the body, accelerate lymphatic drainage, exfoliate skin and help restore the body's electromagnetic balance that gets thrown off by our always-online lives. Added bonus: the horsehair bristles are extremely soft (despite being exfoliating powerhouses), so won't irritate the sensitive skin on your chest.

If you’re worried about boobne on-the-go…
As if backne weren’t enough, some of us have to content with boobne: the dreaded spots that pop up on our chest and cleavage for who-knows-why reasons. If you suspect that the culprit may be sweat, air quality or clogged pores, keeping a pack of Kinfield’s Clean Slate Cleansing Wipes handy is never a bad idea. Plant-based and biodegradable, these wipes are an easy way to keep skin fresh and cleansed on the go thanks to ingredients like cleansing oat bran extract, nourishing coconut juice, and hydrating glycerin. Your boobs — and the planet — will thank you.

…and also worried about boobne at home.
Once you’re back in the comfort of your own home, take your boobne prevention one step further in the shower with the Off Court Exfoliating Soap. Yes, it is for your entire body but it’s especially great for gently exfoliating the sensitive skin on your boobs while also deep-cleaning pores with activated charcoal. Lather up and massage in circular motions to slough off dead skin and leave your chest area feeling fresh and smooth.

If you really believed in the power of the “we must, we must, we must increase our bust” chant as a kid…
Well, hopefully you’ve realized that repeatedly flexing your chest and moving your arms in and out won’t change your boobs. But also, maybe you’re ready to embrace a different type of increase in that area? While not a magic potion, MARA’s Sea Sculpt Body Oil is formulated to improve the look of stretch marks and cellulite, and increase firmness thanks to its skin-refining plankton and body-contouring celery seed. Massage it into your décolletage and boobs using gentle, upward strokes and make your inner tween proud.

Your boobs deserve just as much love as the rest of your skin — go ahead and treat them like they matter.
