Heads up! Mercury will be retrograde for most of August, from the 4th (or 5th, depending on your time zone) until the 28th. Communication and travel can be tricky, and technology can be glitchy. You know the drill: back up your devices (and don’t buy new ones). Put off important conversations, big decisions and signing paperwork. Avoid jumping to conclusions. Be as patient as possible. And perhaps most importantly, keep your sense of humor. On August 19th, expansive Jupiter squares off with restrictive Saturn for the first time since 2016. Faith is being tested. Exciting growth may have its limits. Visions of the future will require a smart plan and may need to fit within a time-honored system. High ideals are only attainable if they have strong roots in solid ground. Saturn is not trying to burst Jupiter’s bubble, but he is compelling us to get serious and do the work, in order to make this dream a reality.
Leo: Fire, fixed.

LEO

July 23–August 22

If you’re feeling impatient to get where you want to go on August 2nd, it may help to consider the possibility that you’re projecting a different image than you assume you are. You aim to please, with amiable Venus in your sign, but her dustup with erratic Uranus in your ambition arena that day suggests the response from higher-ups is difficult to predict. On August 4th, you receive your annual invitation to reinvent yourself as the New Moon graces Leo, infusing you with fresh-start energy. Contemplate your persona, your appearance, the vibe you give off to people. How do others see you? Does that perception match your inner identity?
Play around with your look, your communication style, your body language — but don’t make any big changes until next month, because mental Mercury pivots retrograde that night and will be backtracking for most of August. This reversal begins in your worth zone, messing with your financial judgment, so postpone major splurges and review your budget carefully to see where there’s room for revision. Hold off on negotiations, since you’re not assessing your bottom line clearly at the moment. To complicate matters, desirous Venus darts into your worth zone that night as well, increasing your taste for nice things and pretty possessions over the next three and a half weeks. Although you’ll be tempted to spend your hard-earned cash freely, you may also find you can easily attract what you need. You want what you want, and the law of attraction MIGHT help you cover the cost. You’re craving stability in your relationships under this influence and would rather spend time with down-to-earth types than fickle, unreliable people. When go-getter Mars aligns with expansive Jupiter in your group sector on the 14th, bold teamwork is favored. You might go the distance for a friend or proactively broaden your social circle or network of contacts. Get out and mingle, do something that benefits others’ lives or launch an exciting collaboration. That night, Mercury returns to Leo (until September 9th), luring you to review personal matters. You’ll probably feel a bit tongue-tied, but don’t devote too much attention to making yourself understood. You’re better off focusing on understanding yourself better. Group endeavors could be challenging when Mars feuds with restrictive Saturn in your sharing realm on August 15th. You might be motivated to collaborate but run into trouble when someone refuses to hold up their end of the bargain. Maybe one person isn’t on the same page, or you’re the one who’s hesitant to fall in line. Try not to put too much emphasis on what you’re not receiving and who’s not delivering. Forcing matters could lead to a stalemate. On the 19th, Venus’s run-in with Jupiter can pit your personal desires against group interests or the greater good. You’re allowed to want what you want, but don’t try to finagle your way with others who are liable to have their own priorities. There’s a chance this transit will inspire you to be extra generous with friends or with people in general. Soon after, Venus faces off with Saturn, making you more aware of what you’re not getting from a specific individual. Or you may wish you had access to a particular resource. Try not to see the glass as half-empty. Find a compromise you’re satisfied with. Or stop trying to get blood from a stone and concentrate on your own power to take care of yourself. Hours later, you might take it personally if someone wields their authority over you as the Leo Sun goes up against rash Uranus. Take a break from responsibilities to do your own thing. You’re in no mood to cater to anyone else’s whims. If you can’t pull that off, juggle work and play as best you can. On the heels of that celestial skirmish, a Full Moon lands in your interpersonal court, alluding to a possible turning point in a relationship. You could make a deeper commitment or call it quits, depending on the current state of your connection. Because both Mercury retrograde and rebellious Uranus are involved, resist the impulse to make a snap decision. Don’t act in haste. Hold off until the planets settle down and the proper path forward is more readily apparent. A few hours later, Jupiter crosses swords with Saturn, contrasting the quantity of new people coming into your life and the quality of truly close connections. It’s one thing to get enthused over fresh faces and budding interests, but it’s another to turn those into strong relationships and enduring passions, respectively. You could become aware now that it’s worth it to invest in something or someone that will stand the test of time. The old poem about new friends being silver and old friends being gold may spring to mind. Your ruler, the Sun, exits Leo on August 22nd and sets up shop in your worth zone, persuading you to shine a light on what you have and what you need. Ponder your priorities and try to make good use of the resources on hand. When Venus gets her wires crossed with Mars that night, your personal desires are once again at odds with group interests. You might want what you want very much and push your friends as a result. Wait for the tension to pass if you can’t find a good middle ground. With Venus in cozying up to inventive Uranus in your career camp on the 27th, you might want to set some financial targets or consider tweaking your professional path in the interest of providing for yourself. You can also give your self-esteem a boost by showing off a distinctive talent or making progress toward a goal. Echoing earlier cosmic conflicts, Venus goes head to head with Neptune on the 28th and might make you feel like you can’t get what you want from a certain someone. The more realistically you view other individuals, the easier this opposition will be for you. Avoid misunderstandings and disappointments by keeping people off pedestals. FYI, lending and borrowing are a no-go now. With Mercury powering on in Leo minutes later, your silver tongue will slowly return. And your thinking will be much more on point, as you start to contemplate personal matters with the benefit of increasing objectivity. Venus dances into your cognition-and-communication center on August 29th, helping you see the love and beauty all around you and enjoy pleasant, light interactions. You’re feeling flirtatious and will have no problem expressing warmth and affection. It’s easy to meet new faces close to home, plus you shouldn’t have much trouble getting along with neighbors and people in your everyday life. A community improvement effort may call for your artistic touch, and you’ll find it gratifying to make your local environment more attractive. Right after that, Venus syncs up with powerful Pluto in your relationship realm, implying that you could meet your match nearby if you’re in search of prospective partners. Spend time in your neighborhood and strike up a conversation if anyone catches your eye. In a new relationship? You could voice your true feelings for the first time and grow closer.

VIRGO

August 23–September 22

Your desire to let go and drift could be at odds with your taste for adventure on August 2nd when pleasant Venus in your escape corner tussles with impromptu Uranus in your expansion province. You might also feel inspired to help someone, but you’re not sure if you’re seeing them in an accurate light. Staying flexible will help you steer clear of analysis paralysis. The New Moon of August 4th reminds you to tend to your spirit. You might opt to begin a new spiritual practice, incorporate more downtime into your schedule, download a meditation app, start a dream journal, go on a retreat or make a point of getting more — or better quality — sleep.
Venus arrives in Virgo that night, allowing you to feel your most charming, attractive and gracious during the next three and a half weeks. You’ll have a warm, friendly vibe that draws people to you like moths to a flame. Try not to spend too much time with anyone you don’t want to be around. This transit can attract new admirers or remind your mate how amazing you are. It also gives you a green light to enjoy life to the fullest, so carve out plenty of playtime this month. Hours later, after messenger Mercury turns retrograde in your sign, getting your message across clearly can feel like an uphill battle. Don’t get too hung up on making yourself understood this month. This phase only lasts a few weeks and it affects everyone. Have patience and postpone major decisions. Your personal judgment will inevitably be off. Use this time to ponder your choices and weigh what you most want to convey to people and how you’d like to present yourself. But with Mars and Jupiter joining forces at the peak of your chart on the 14th, don’t play it safe when chasing after goals. A confident move could pay dividends, as long as you avoid going to extremes and trampling on the toes of power players. Operate on your own if you can, and consider taking a brilliantly calculated risk — IF you did those calculations before Mercury shifted into reverse and nothing’s changed. After Merc backs out of Virgo that night, you’ll become more circumspect. Pay close attention to your hunches and dreams in the next couple of weeks. You might reread old journals, rediscover a pleasant escape, reflect on the past and examine fantasies for insight into yourself. Your ambition is in overdrive, thanks to motivated Mars blazing a trail through your achievement angle, but when he reaches a stalemate with strict Saturn in your interpersonal court on the 15th, someone could put up a stop sign. Resist the urge to keep going full speed ahead. Take negative feedback under advisement. A killjoy could be a blessing in disguise, since constructive criticism will sharpen your strategy. It could be that you need to toggle between chasing goals and meeting personal obligations for a day. Venus in Virgo goes up against massive Jupiter on August 19th, tempting you to oversell yourself or cross the line with an authority figure. Feeling confident is a plus, but if your ambition gets out of hand, you might need to dial it down around people you have to answer to. That doesn’t mean you should downplay your magnetism. It can draw positive attention your way. Complicating matters, Venus goes toe to toe with stern Saturn soon after, so you may be exuding warmth and getting the cold shoulder. Or you might be in an agreeable mood, and others are being difficult. Don’t take it personally if people aren’t easily swayed. See if there’s any lesson to be gained from this temporary strain on relationships. Later that day, the Sun in your subliminal corner skirmishes with revolutionary Uranus in your exploration zone. You might feel like lying low but also have a conflicting urge to break out of a rut, have new experiences, broaden your mind, meet people and travel. Part of you wants peace and quiet, while another part wants to shake things up. Find healthy escapes that, at the very least, transport your mind. Right after that, a Full Moon lands in your work-and-wellness corner, inspiring you to quit a bad habit once and for all. It’s possible that a job or health crisis will reveal stressors in your life that need to change. On the other hand, a project could come to fruition now, giving you a deep sense of satisfaction. Full Moons always call for balance, and this one wants you to give equal attention to your inner and outer lives and nurture your mind, body and spirit. As Jupiter and Saturn clash a few hours later, a relationship could reach a crossroads. Your own goals might be at odds with personal obligations. Perhaps career growth that you’re excited about is impacting a close bond. You might be painfully aware now that you can’t have it all at the same time, and that feels unfair. The revitalizing Sun blasts into Virgo on August 22nd, launching your birthday season and giving you the energy to make a big splash if that’s what you want. Focus on your own agenda now. This is your time, so consider what you want out of life and don’t feel guilty about doing YOU. But when Venus and Mars lock horns that night, your desire to enjoy life may be at odds with your efforts to get ahead, and you might also find it difficult to appease an authority figure. It’s also possible that you’re not entirely sure what you want from a relationship or don’t know where one is headed. Lucky for you, charming Venus has an exciting rendezvous with Uranus on August 27th which encourages you to try something new and perhaps draw more attention to yourself. You might be attracted to someone unexpected, flirt with a variety of people, show a different side of yourself or enjoy an impromptu eye-opening experience. You’re enticed by uniqueness in others now, and they’re riveted by you. Rose-colored glasses won’t do you any favors when Venus faces off with confusing Neptune on the 28th. Keep people off pedestals and enjoy connecting on an authentic spiritual, creative or romantic level instead. It will feel good to show you care, but resist the temptation to save someone who needs you. The trick now is to stay on equal footing in relationships. With Mercury getting back in gear that evening, the inklings and hunches you’ve had in the last few weeks could crystallize into conclusions. You still won’t feel very chatty, since Merc is hiding out at the end of your chart, but the gift of gab will return soon enough. Venus exits Virgo on August 29th and moves into your worth zone, causing you to covet things. But her presence here can also boost your ability to attract what you need. Money-making opportunities could come your way, but keep a lid on extravagant tastes if you need to curb your spending. Right after that, Venus joins forces with formidable Pluto in your productivity precinct, suggesting that determination and hard work will empower you to get what you want. You don’t need anyone to strengthen your security. You’re capable of taking care of yourself, and that’s a beautiful feeling!

Libra: Air, cardinal.

LIBRA

September 23–October 22

Your lovely ruler, Venus, is hanging in your friendship zone and tangling with rebellious Uranus in your intensity province on August 2nd, hinting that someone might catch you by surprise — or you might be attracted to a platonic pal. Try to enjoy the moment without reading too much into it. If an individual is acting fickle or detached, give them some space. Sex, sharing and interdependence can trip you up now. Focus on fostering mutually beneficial bonds, learning from others and allowing them room to be themselves. The New Moon of August 4th invites you to widen your circle by making new friends and professional contacts or joining an organization.
You might also consider get a philanthropic endeavor or group effort off the ground now. With Venus exiting your social sector that night and slipping into the last house in your chart for a nearly monthlong escape, there will be days when you won’t feel like being around a lot of people. Say no to plans and give yourself permission to spend more time alone — or retreat from the world with someone you’re close to. You may be inspired to take care of a loved one and might make a sweet sacrifice, putting their desires before your own. Soon after, messenger Mercury goes retrograde, turning your attention inward and causing you to be more circumspect for the next week and a half. You’re likely to get more information from your dreams, intuitive flashes, half-buried feelings and surfacing memories than you will from the outside world. Tune out the noise and tune into the stirrings of your soul. Don’t try to force communication, as it’s bound to be murky for a while. Bold Mars and courageous Jupiter are forming an alliance in your exploration corner on the 14th that can mobilize you to launch an entrepreneurial effort, take a courageous stand for what you believe in, jump into a new course of study, embark on a big trip or brave a new experience you’re sure to learn from. Hours later, Mercury reverses into your network zone. You might reconnect with old friends and acquaintances in the next couple of weeks. You could also rethink a new dream or review your affiliations with groups. Stay away from gossip, as misunderstandings are par for the course now. On August 15th, assertive Mars and stern Saturn get into a skirmish that could stop you in your tracks. You’re all ready to take a leap of faith, and then the taskmaster planet steps in to say, “Not so fast!” That’s not such a bad thing, especially with Mercury rolling retrograde. Doing your homework will, at the very least, ensure you’re taking calculated risks rather than questionable ones. You need to prepare for this adventure—or venture. And if you’re defending your beliefs and principles or fighting for a cause, you better be armed with hard facts. You might be torn between relishing downtime and getting out to have new experiences when Venus disagrees with Jupiter on August 19th. Should you indulge in escapist pleasures or answer a higher calling and show heartfelt selflessness? Maybe both—Jupiter isn’t fond of narrowing down the options. Note that this cosmic combo puts you at risk of chasing after a romantic dream that’s all smoke and mirrors. It — or they — may not turn out to be as amazing as you imagine. Venus goes up against Saturn soon after that, lessening the joy of retreat by reminding you of your obligations. But getting the necessary stuff done will take some pressure off, allowing you to balance duty and relaxation. Hours later, the egocentric Sun’s quarrel with Uranus suggests sharing probably won’t end up even-steven. You could become impatient with someone if your expectations aren’t being met. Friction related to pooled resources, trust, money or jealousy is common during this planetary friction. That day’s Full Moon lands in your joy realm, which could cause an amorous relationship to blossom or fizzle, perhaps catching you off guard. You might have a fun adventure or enjoy spending time with friends. A creative endeavor could flourish, allowing you to showcase your talents. Jupiter battles Saturn a few hours after that, which might dampen your enthusiasm for your vision of the future if present duties are weighing on you. You may have high hopes but can’t see the trees while you’re gazing at the forest. Slow down to fill in the finer points between the broad strokes of your grand vision. Hard work is required to make your dream a reality. With the vibrant Sun dipping into your retreat corner on the 22nd, your solar year is winding down, and you’ll need time alone now and then to rest and reflect. Socialize when you want to, but don’t hesitate to slip away when you’re craving peace and quiet. You need to recharge your battery before your birthday season gets underway next month. The cosmic couple, Venus and Mars, are locked in battle that night, so you may feel torn between a desire to drift and a drive to do something gutsy to propel yourself into the future. Empathy and altruism can motivate you to go to bat for others who are less fortunate than you. Have faith that it’s always worth it to fight for what’s right. Getting past your inhibitions can bring a rush of closeness when Venus canoodles with Uranus in your intimacy realm on the 27th. Divulging a secret will feel liberating, and if you’re alone, wandering around in your own imagination can elicit an aha moment. Either way, getting closer to another person or to your own truth requires you to surrender control and go with the flow. Venus tangles with Neptune the day after that, making it difficult to keep firm boundaries. Don’t give up too much for someone. The temptation to get involved in a situation that’s not good for you is strong now. You might be trying to help, but you’re making yourself very vulnerable in the process. Mercury gets back in gear almost immediately after that, enabling you to repair any damage that was done by crossed wires in your squad, on social media or in another group. You’ll be more certain of who’s on your team going forward. On August 29th, Venus dances into Libra, filling you with irresistible magnetism and helping you feel your most attractive. Since you can draw admirers in like moths to a flame, surround yourself with people you want in your orbit. Hang with your squad, go out on dates or spend quality time with your favorite plus-one. You’re projecting warmth and friendliness and may find yourself playing peacemaker—but that’s nothing new for you. Right after she shows up in your sign, your ruling planet enjoys incredible chemistry with powerful Pluto in your love-and-happiness house, intensifying romance and pleasure. Whether you fall for someone new or get out and enjoy life, it’s likely to feel epic. Diving into a creative project instead? You’ll pour your heart and soul into it. Nothing’s light and breezy when Pluto’s in the picture.

Scorpio: Water, fixed.

SCORPIO

October 23–November 21

You may not make the impression you intend to on August 2nd when image-conscious Venus in your ambition angle scuffles with erratic Uranus in your relationship realm. Don’t be too attached to eliciting a specific response. Partnership isn’t the most reliable path to success now. Relationship challenges can hinder self-promotion. You might change your strategy with someone to save face. The New Moon of August 4th can inspire you to set new goals and polish your reputation if it’s not what you’d like it to be. A new career chapter may be in the works. After amiable Venus sashays into your humanity house that night, you’ll feel more social and will thrive in big gatherings. It’s easy to get along with people while you’re exuding such a friendly, carefree vibe.
But, Mercury’s U-turn in that house hours later can cause crossed wires and mess with technology. Back up devices, don’t purchase new ones until next month, and avoid gossip. Be careful communicating to groups, including on social media. But do reconnect with long-lost pals and peers. Bold Mars aligns with courageous Jupiter on the 14th, daring you to take a calculated risk to get close to someone. Push past private fears in the name of growth. If you dig into an intensive endeavor, you’re bound to make a lot of headway. After Mercury backs into your professional precinct that night, career planning, communication with authority figures and articulating your objectives will be challenging. Review your objectives, revise a business plan, research possible career paths and rethink your PR. A standoff between Mars and restrictive Saturn on the 15th could trigger a push-pull dynamic in a close relationship. Maybe one person is ready to dive deep into intimacy, while the other wants to wait and see. Or one part of you is ultra-focused on a passion project, emotional issue or love interest, and another part isn’t sure about putting all your eggs in one basket. Should you go all in or keep something in reserve? You have so much to contribute, and whatever test you’re facing will empower you to understand yourself better and get out of your own way. Desirous Venus squares off with Jupiter in your depth-and-merging realm on August 19th, which could leave you unsure of whether you want to play the field or put all your chips on one person. Jealousy, sex and overblown expectations can affect a friendship, so tread carefully. On the other hand, a casual connection may heat up in a good way. Venus opposes Saturn hours later, which might make you feel too self-conscious to enjoy yourself with people. This standoff could also generate tension between your social life and your love life. Respect your feelings, but don’t fixate on them, as they’ll subside soon. When the Sun spars with Uranus in your interpersonal court later that day, relationship ups-and-downs or unpredictable people can lead you to take your eye off the ball. You might become bossy, especially if someone tests your patience. Try to give people plenty of leeway and remember that they may not share your agenda. A wave of moodiness, sentimentality or nostalgia may wash over you when a Full Moon hits your foundation angle that same day. If you’re single mindedly dedicated to achieving your aims, something could occur in your home or family life to draw your attention away. The point is to strike a better balance between your private life and your professional or public strivings. A domestic project may require finishing touches, or a family member or roommate might need you. On the other hand, you may require alone time so you can focus on self-care, emotional reflection and rest. A few hours later, Jupiter’s tussle with Saturn could bring you back down to earth in a relationship, especially if sex and love don’t seem to dovetail seamlessly. There could be varying degrees of passion between two people or different passions within you that need to be integrated somehow. You may have high expectations of what others bring to the table and need to focus more on developing your own heartfelt contribution. Remember that self-love is a prerequisite for authentic intimacy. But after the energizing Sun sails into your humanity house on August 22nd, you’re motivated to meet new people, engage in teamwork, join a group and spend time with your friends. That night, Venus has a run-in with Mars, which could complicate relationships momentarily, especially if you try to mix friendship and sex. Intriguing sparks with a platonic pal can provide excitement in the short run, and you shouldn’t necessarily ignore your feelings just because a situation is potentially thorny. But do keep in mind that Mercury’s retrograde is impairing everyone’s judgment. If you’re already involved with someone, you might experience a conflict between keeping things light and getting hot and heavy. Or your rapport with friends might be threatened by a problem involving jealousy, mistrust, sharing, betrayal or control. You can sidestep a power struggle, but you’re not afraid of getting your hands dirty. Confronting what’s really going on beneath the surface may be the best way to achieve a positive outcome. Venus is harmonizing with you-never-know Uranus in your relationship realm on August 27th, which could once again set off romantic sparks between you and a friend. Another possible scenario: You’ll meet someone new through people you already know. If you’re looking for love, look no further than the circle of friends, acquaintances and colleagues you already have in your life. If you’re joined at the hip with your significant other, this is a good day to give each other more space and hang with your crew. On the 28th, Venus goes head to head with chimerical Neptune, potentially blurring the distinction between platonic and romantic (again!) and luring you to idealize someone. Be open to a soulful connection or a creative collaboration, but make sure that a romantic bond is rooted in reality rather than illusion. You might be moved to do something quite compassionate for a friend under this kindhearted influence. That same day, Mercury moves forward at last, which will help to straighten out career planning, communication with higher-ups and public relations. You’ll soon find it easier to formulate and articulate your goals. You’re more drawn to the inner experiences of spirituality and imagination than to the outer world after Venus ducks into your retreat corner on August 29th, dialing down your desire to socialize. You could feel more sentimental in the coming weeks and let down your guard to show your soft side. In your love life, you’ll be more prone to selfless gestures, healing past heartaches and cozying up in private. Right after that, Venus’s tête-a-tête with your ruler, powerful Pluto, turns up the heat behind closed doors. If you have a partner, sex will be extra emotional, and you might even be overwhelmed by the depth of your connection. If you’re by yourself, you might pine for a secret crush or an ex. A creative outlet or a conversation with a trusted confidant can help you channel those strong feelings.

Sagittarius: Fire, mutable.

SAGITTARIUS

November 22–December 21

When pleasant Venus in your expansion zone tussles with surprising Uranus in your productivity province on August 2nd, stay flexible if your workload, health or some inescapable circumstance threatens to curtail the joy of broadening your horizons. However, your restlessness can push you to overthrow the status quo without a second thought — and that might end up being a good thing. The New Moon of August 4th coaxes you to refresh the page on your worldview, exploring different philosophies and ways of life to widen your aperture. This lunation’s intrepid spirit can inspire you to be more adventurous and entrepreneurial, and you might decide to book a trip, sign up for a class or seek out some other experience that facilitates learning and growth.

That night, Venus ascends to your ambition angle, encouraging you to polish your public image and turn on the charm with your superiors in an effort to make a favorable impression. You’re capable of doing creative work and getting along well with your colleagues — both of which will also make you look good. This is a good month to meet with a potential mentor, attend industry functions and schedule lunch with your boss. With messenger Mercury doing a 180 in that part of your chart soon after, communication with authority figures can be fraught with peril in the days ahead, so watch your tone. You’re better off reviewing your goals than going public with them and might also want to revise a business plan or contemplate your career path. Consider tweaks that suit who you are today and the circumstances you find yourself in. On the 14th, bold Mars meets up with your ruler, audacious Jupiter, in your relationship realm, which might fire you up to embark on an exciting joint venture; initiate a dynamic — and edifying — confrontation; take a gamble to secure a partner; pursue an individual who can teach you or be of some other benefit to you; or pair up with an exercise buddy. Keep in mind that Mercury’s backspin impairs everyone’s judgment, so you may need to proceed with more caution than Mars and Jupiter are known for. Speaking of which, Mercury reverses into your expansion zone that night. You might edit something for publication, review a subject you already studied, reconsider your beliefs and opinions and try to regain perspective. Ride out delays and detours when traveling. Revisiting a place may prove easier than going somewhere for the first time. Private insecurity or domestic or family obligations can get in the way of partnership when Mars runs into trouble with stern Saturn on the 15th. Unfortunately, it’s quite possible that emotional baggage and old patterns will make it hard to fight fair. Resist the impulse to get defensive. See if you can decipher the part you play in an interpersonal dynamic so you can take back whatever you’re projecting onto others and own it. Try not to look at yourself as right or wrong, good or bad. Accept that we’re all a potpourri of qualities. With Venus jostling Jupiter on the 19th, your charms won’t be lost on people—as long as you’re careful not to push your luck. You might secure a professional mentor or an invaluable contact with the help of this planetary pairing. If you’re currently very focused on the future of a relationship and end up in a discussion about where things are headed, you might find out you’re not on the same page. An ultimatum could move the needle, but that’s probably not the best strategy, especially while the communication planet is backtracking. Venus faces off with Saturn hours later, hinting once again that underlying insecurities or personal obligations could cramp your style. In this case, you may have a harder time charming people in power. You might overcome this obstacle with some form of compromise. The Sun’s discord with Uranus that same day can also throw a wrench in your plans. Your wanderlust or hunger for new experiences may be thwarted by shifting circumstances, or an inability to concentrate might cut into your productivity. You’re likely to feel scattered and could grow frustrated with limitations. With a Full Moon illuminating your thinking-and-talking corner at almost the same time, a flood of thoughts, information or interactions could keep you very busy. New facts may come to light, causing you to feel differently about a matter. Or a situation involving your sibling or your community might develop and require your attention. You shouldn’t have much trouble tuning into your emotions, but expressing them will be challenging for another week or so. If you’re extra restless, a local adventure might be just what you need. Jupiter’s feud with Saturn a few hours later hints that emotional baggage and private insecurities could impact a blossoming bond. Or maybe you’re with someone you’re excited about — maybe a person who’s very different from you — and your own background or family traditions are limiting this connection in some way. Pay attention to your feelings and lessons from the past, but don’t let plain old fear call the shots. The Sun soars into your ambition angle on August 22nd, fueling your pursuit of goals and enabling you to shine in public and in your profession. The month ahead is ideal for proving what you can do, so don’t hide your light. That night, as Venus feuds with Mars, you might argue with someone close to you over what you want out of the relationship. Or you could disagree over who is demanding more attention or whose desires take precedence. You probably won’t see eye to eye, so tabling the discussion for the time being might be the best solution. Be open to new ways of accomplishing what you want to when Venus makes music with change-loving Uranus on the 27th. The more flexible you are in your approach to achieving your aims, the more likely you are to earn rave reviews. Be spontaneous, not stubborn, and you’ll polish your public image or create favorable circumstances in your career. As Venus tangles with Neptune the next day, you may not know where you stand with your boss or someone else in a position of power. Your creative work or strategic socializing are helping to cast you in a positive light, but your ambitions may not be delivering the satisfaction you’d hoped for. Fortunately, with Mercury pivoting forward later that day, the big picture should start to come together. Learning and travel won’t be as glitchy, and you can clarify your opinions and beliefs in the days ahead. After Venus saunters into your network center on August 29th, group gatherings will be your happy place. You’re in the mood to see your friends, go to parties and attend other large events. Tech is ruled by this part of the chart as well, making the next few weeks favorable for online dating and social media interactions. That same morning, Venus vibes with powerful Pluto in your cognition-and-communication zone, setting the stage for long, deep conversations. Express your true feelings, even if they’re a little dark or heavy. Bond with your bestie or someone new. This could be the start of a strong friendship.

Capricorn: Earth, cardinal.

CAPRICORN

December 22–January 19

As amorous Venus in your intensity zone tussles with startling Uranus in your romance realm on August 2nd, you could experience shockwaves in your personal life if a sudden flirtation or sexual encounter comes out of nowhere. Expect the unexpected and allow for plenty of freedom. Resist any temptation to assume too much too soon. Infatuation and rebellion can combine, creating quite a plot twist. The New Moon of August 4th prompts you to pay off — or collect on — a debt; seek outside resources such as a loan, grant or tax refund; turn the page after an emotional blow or crisis; and be open to a new sexual partner or experience. You’ll start to see the appeal of difference after Venus sashays into your expansion court that night, luring you to explore unfamiliar pleasures.
Unfamiliar people, places and cultures will inspire you and open your eyes to a wider range of possibilities. You might date someone very different from you or someone you’d normally overlook. A long-distance love affair or vacation fling could also be in the cards. Have some fun getting out of your comfort zone and broadening your horizons in the weeks ahead. But after Mercury goes retrograde hours later, travel and education could become glitchy. Practice patience and stay off the soapbox, since preaching your POV can get you into debates where everyone’s talking at cross-purposes. But this is a good time to review your personal opinions and beliefs, weeding out prejudices and seeking fresh perspective. Motivated Mars meets up with intrepid Jupiter in your productivity precinct on the 14th, giving you a burst of energy to tackle your workload, a challenging exercise regimen, a health issue or daily duties. You may be able to combine broad strokes and detailed critique with great success. After Mercury reverses into your depth-and-merging arena that night, you might turn some of your attention to a sticky financial issue, a research project or a psychological hurdle. If your mind drifts to an ex, keep in mind that reconnection can get complicated. Work smarter — not harder — when Mars elbows your ruler, taskmaster Saturn, in your mindset province on August 15th, causing you to find fault with what you’re doing. It makes sense to refine your approach, but don’t get stuck in analysis paralysis. The point is to keep going on a more focused track, not to talk yourself out of actions altogether. The danger is that you’ll bring things to a screeching halt, so try to find the middle ground instead. And don’t take critical jabs at people or stress yourself out. Working out can help you clear your head if you’re wound up. On the 19th, a Venus-Jupiter dustup alludes to tension between the fun of experiencing unfamiliar pleasures and the need to overanalyze everything. You might be dying to escape daily life, but meanwhile, you’re juggling a full workload. If you’re feeling connected to people who are different from you, you might be inspired to use your skills to benefit others. But soon after, a Venus-Saturn opposition can make you think twice about exploring new pleasures. It’s fine to weigh risks, but don’t let negativity keep you from enjoying more of what life has to offer. When the Sun fights with Uranus that day, you could be zeroing in on an important relationship, endeavor or personal matter when an impulse to enjoy the lighter side of life sends you off on a tangent. An urge for independence can also disrupt closeness. Also on the 19th, keep an eye on your spending as a Full Moon rock your worth zone, mixing your emotions up with your needs. A cash outlay — OR windfall is possible now. You’ll be very aware of what you possess, require and desire, but make sure you don’t rank all of that far above what someone else needs. Give-and-take is a delicate but necessary balancing act. A few hours later, Jupiter picks a fight with Saturn, which might trigger doubts about getting all your work done when your plate is so full. You’re capable of breaking down daunting challenges into a solid game plan. And if you’re striving to improve your health, don’t swing to extremes by attempting to make sweeping changes that may not be sustainable. Whether this is about work or wellness, remind yourself it’s a marathon, not a sprint. You may decide to learn new skills in order to get the job done, and that would be a wise move now. With the energizing Sun blasting into your expansion court on the 22nd, part of you is fired up to branch out, meet new people and learn something. A trip or other adventurous undertaking could be in the cards this coming month. That night’s Venus-Mars spat generates friction between the appeal of newness and the need to proceed with caution. An exciting romance or other pleasurable experience may suddenly call for baby steps, or grand plans may hit a roadblock and need to be rescheduled. See if you can find a way to methodically go after what you want rather than taking a risky leap of faith. Or just wait a bit until the timing is better. Venus dovetails with Uranus on August 27th, luring you to date outside your comfort zone if you’re single and enjoy a trip or new experience with your partner if you’re in a relationship. You might be drawn to someone unexpectedly. Uranus is in favor of spontaneously saying yes to anything and anyone that will push the envelope, but remember Mercury is still retrograde at the moment. When Venus gets lost in Neptune’s fog on the 28th, exploring unfamiliar pleasures could become confusing. You might be drawn to someone and not know what to make of them. Or you might have a positive, but disorienting, experience. Although it’s possible to feel taken in if something or someone is misrepresented, you can also have a spiritual realization. You might feel deep empathy for people you didn’t think you had much in common with. You’re unusually open to the unknown now, which can be a good thing or a bad thing. Mercury’s U-turn that night will improve your ability to get to the bottom of things and suss out substantive answers. Plus communicating with someone close to you and spelling out what you need will become less daunting in the days ahead. Once Venus ascends to the peak of your chart on August 29th, you’ll have a knack for getting along with people who have authority over you. Make a point of interacting with higher-ups during the next few weeks. You can also make a favorable impression by showing how creative and agreeable you are. Put your charisma and artistic flair on display. As Venus joins forces with formidable Pluto that same morning, turning on the charm with power players and working well with colleagues will pay off. You’ll thrive when you come across as pleasant and professional. If you’re shopping, you might look for clothes that help you polish your public image, even if you’re working from home or are unemployed and job hunting. The point is to be visible and draw positive attention. And don’t forget to showcase your talents, which are likely to make a strong statement.

AQUARIUS

January 20–February 18

Intimate relationships take center stage this month, and a sexual one may feel more emotional and affectionate. You want loyalty, trust, integrity and commitment from the individuals you care about most. And normally, you wouldn’t have much trouble getting support from a loved one or money from an outside resource during this Venus transit. But with Mercury turning retrograde in that part of your chart hours later, misunderstandings can occur, especially in close relationships. Be mindful of privacy — yours and that of others. You may reminisce about an ex or ruminate over a loss or wound, and probing your psyche for insights will be worthwhile. Bold Mars and courageous Jupiter align in your love-and-happiness house on August 14th, daring you to take a big chance and chase after your heart’s desire. You could go overboard, since restraint isn’t a hallmark of this transit. But a nervy move to get what (or whom) you want might be gamble worth taking. The problem is Mercury’s backspin is impairing everyone’s judgment and throwing a wrench in communication. In fact, the messenger planet is due to reverse into your interpersonal angle that evening, causing crossed wires in your encounters with other individuals. Instead of rehashing old arguments, try contemplating your relationships and perhaps rethinking the terms of one. A Mars-Saturn disagreement on the 15th could curtail your pursuit of something or someone you desire. Maybe you don’t have the wherewithal to do whatever you please and need to adapt to reality or a dip in confidence. Don’t put too much on the line when the moment doesn’t feel right. If you’re hoping for more from a relationship or you’re not sure what you want out of it, Venus’s skirmish with Jupiter on the 19th can bring things to a head. Try not to overreact because this mood will shift. See if you can bring more creativity, play, romance or self-expression to an endeavor or bond without taking things too far. A few hours later, a Venus-Saturn conflict can prevent closeness if you’re afraid of not having enough, not being enough or losing something precious. It’s understandable to protect yourself, but don’t let fear win. The Sun’s run-in with your ruler, Uranus, later that day could also introduce tension in a relationship. Stay flexible, and be willing to look at your own role in this. If you need more space, you can be honest without being abrupt. On the heels of that planetary fight, a Full Moon lands in your sign, triggering a flood of feelings. Don’t feel guilty about cancelling plans if you’re suddenly in the mood to chill alone at home. It could be challenging to spell out what you need from other people and feel understood while Mercury is offline. But you’re entitled to your emotions and shouldn’t hesitate to double down on self-care. If something or someone is pushing you over the edge now, you might question whether you want to keep it or them in your life. Full Moons often bring endings, and normally it would be natural to release a burden during this lunation in your sign. But while the mental planet is backpedaling, you may not make the best decision, so wait a couple of weeks before acting on such thoughts. As Jupiter squares off with Saturn a few hours later, your burgeoning enthusiasm for welcoming more love, joy and creative self-expression into your life might run into a wall of insecurity or limited resources. If you’ve been feeling hopeful about living a well-rounded, fulfilling life, now you may worry that you don’t have what it takes. Perhaps you want something that you think will satisfy you, but money is tight. Or you’re attracted to someone and feeling unsure of yourself. Pursuing your heart’s desires may require work, but you’re worth it. On August 22nd, the Sun’s arrival in your depth-and-sharing realm can intensify your focus on a particular relationship and also shine a light on your psyche. Take a deep dive into intimacy, private emotions or a passion project in the month ahead. Venus quarrels with her cosmic cohort, Mars, that night, so although you want commitment and closeness, you may have an urge to explore other possibilities that might make you happy. Or it could be the other way around. You’re all in, and your mate isn’t. The friction doesn’t have to be a bad thing though, since Venus and Mars tend to generate sparks. If you’re in a stable relationship, this combo can keep things exciting. And if you’re single, you might be incredibly attracted to someone. When Venus makes magic with enlightening Uranus on the 27th, you might dare to share your private feelings. Don’t hide who you are. You need to open up in order to feel understood. Sex is likely to be an emotionally revealing experience, so it’s especially important to trust the person you’re with. If you don’t have a partner at the moment, carve out alone time for introspection or talk to a person who’s known you forever. The goal is to know yourself better and to get out of an old pattern that is stunting your growth. However, your craving for closeness can lure you to give up a lot in order to be with someone, when Venus opposes Neptune in your worth zone the next day. It’s possible that fear or insecurity will hold you back. If you’re overly conscious of what you stand to lose, you may not gain anything either. See if you can find a balance of self-protection and vulnerability that you’re comfortable with. Fortunately, Mercury is correcting course, also on the 28th, paving the way for diplomatic dialogue and fence-mending. Aim to start resolving any differences that came up in the last few weeks. Once Venus sails into your exploration court on August 29th, you’ll be able to enjoy a broader range of what life has to offer. You could date outside your comfort zone; meet people who open up new worlds to you; travel with someone you like; have cultural experiences you’re not used to; or find beauty off the beaten path. And less that an hour later, Venus harmonizes with Pluto in Aquarius, making new experiences feel like destiny as they strike a chord with the person you’re starting to evolve into. Expose yourself to a different religion; take a trip if possible; become more aware of how other people live; get to know someone from a different background. The changes taking place inside you can somehow reinforce your connection with the wider world that day.

PISCES

February 19–March 20

Relations on the job may hit a snag on August 2nd as amiable Venus spars with erratic Uranus. Do your best to think on your feet and come up with creative solutions to problems. Indecisiveness can make it more challenging to enjoy what you’re doing, and building breaks into your routine could be the antidote. The New Moon of August 4th activates your productivity precinct, prompting you to improve your diet or exercise regimen; start a job search; make medical appointments; organize your workspace or systems; and streamline your schedule. It’s a good time to integrate a new positive habit into your regular routine, particularly one that will enhance your effectiveness or your wellbeing.
After enticing Venus crosses into your interpersonal angle that night, you’ll be in the mood to hang with your favorite people. One-on-one time is more appealing than squad time this month. If you’re in a relationship, prioritize private time with your significant other, as this period can bring you closer. You’re feeling agreeable and won’t be averse to compromise. That being said, Mercury is shifting into reverse gear in that part of your chart, scrambling the signals between you and other individuals. Do your best not to jump to conclusions in the next few weeks. Instead, give people the benefit of the doubt. If you find yourself dredging up old issues and having the same argument you’ve had repeatedly, stop rehashing. It probably won’t get you to a place of mutual understanding. Reevaluate key relationships and your agreements with others — spoken and unspoken. When Mars and Jupiter coalesce in your foundation angle on the 14th, a flurry of action could affect your home life or family, and hopefully, it will be more busyness than conflict. You could regress into habitual behavior and go too far, so try to maintain plenty of self-awareness. Perhaps the best use of this planetary pairing would be to channel the day’s abundant energy into a domestic project. You’ll probably accomplish a ton. After Mercury backpedals into your efficiency corner that night, mix-ups at work and scheduling snafus are to be expected, and details could get overlooked. In the next two weeks, you might try revising your to-do list, researching jobs (or reapplying to one), reviewing your habits, reorganizing clutter, taking stock of your health and looking into (but not adopting) alternative approaches. You could have trouble getting out of your own way on August 15th, due to a fight between feisty Mars and Saturn in Pisces. If you’re feeling prickly, getting out of a bad mood will be no small feat. That’s because your motivations are mostly unconscious, and you may not think you’re up for sifting through emotions. Chances are you’re slipping into an old pattern — and fear, pessimism or a related symptom is making it worse. Don’t let a family member push your buttons. Set boundaries and spend your energy pulling yourself together, however that looks for you. You might, for instance, get busy cleaning the house or creating a list of goals. It’s important to spend time with people you feel at ease with when Venus and Jupiter go at it on the 19th. Your mood and your rapport with other individuals are intertwined, and you might try to push things to the next level in a relationship out of an emotional need for more security. If that’s the case, slowing down and seeing what happens might be the way to go, even if it feels counterintuitive. Soon after that, Venus’s standoff with Saturn in your sign could make you want companionship and at the same time seem aloof. Try to balance discipline and fun, and don’t isolate yourself to the point of loneliness when you’re feeling shy or serious. Build a drawbridge if there’s a moat around you. Hours later, the energizing Sun’s clash with electric Uranus in your mindset corner can make you anxious and distracted. Giving yourself timeouts to clear your head can help. Otherwise, you might shoot off on a tangent and have a hard time getting back on track. When a Full Moon rises in your retreat-and-release sector that same day, that could be your cue to honor your need to step back from the daily grind and slip into another realm. Your inner world of dreams, imagination, spirituality and emotion is calling to you. Surrender to the pull of the unconscious and tune into any messages it might be sending. If you’re suffering from an internal crisis, it’s possible that you’ve been overly focused on everyday responsibilities and need downtime to rest and reflect. This lunation gives you an excellent excuse to let go of anything that is weighing you down or no longer serving you. As Jupiter elbows Saturn in Pisces a few hours later, you could be trying to make sense of your emotions. Maybe you want to feel supported or safe and secure, but you also need to challenge yourself and stand on your own two feet. You’re trying to free yourself from the past and possibly from childhood or your family and having some growing pains at the moment as it sinks in just how hard adulting can be. On August 22nd, the Sun blazes into your interpersonal angle, reminding you there’s more to life than work. You’ll draw energy from other individuals in the month to come and learn about yourself through your relationships, so don’t go it alone. Pair off. Cosmic companions Venus and Mars are at odds that day, triggering prickliness that can impact your rapport with another person. Keep a close eye on your underlying mood in an effort to head an argument off at the pass. Your own underlying emotions are likely to set the wheels in motion. See if you can figure out what you need (a hug? time alone? a nonjudgmental ear?), then ask for it gently. An attraction might take you by surprise on the 27th when Venus vibes with unpredictable Uranus. You could see a person you already know in a different light or meet someone new. A friend, neighbor or sibling might be involved in this scenario, perhaps by making introductions. Couples MIGHT come to an understanding after an honest conversation that reveals previously unspoken truths. It will feel good to get things out in the open. But bear in mind Mercury retrograde is still messing with communication. Speaking of which, a Venus-Neptune opposition on August 28th could leave you confused over an interaction. Someone could misinterpret the vibe you’re giving off, or you might misread someone. To avoid disappointment, try to keep your feet on the ground and view people through a realistic lens. Neptune can create smoke and mirrors that make it hard for others to see you clearly, so self-awareness is essential. Luckily, Mercury resumes forward motion that night, improving your ability to analyze situations and problem-solve. Scheduling glitches, miscues on the job and overlooked details won’t trip you up so much now. You’ll crave closeness after Venus dives into your depth-and-sharing zone on the 29th. Your desires will be intense, and you won’t be satisfied with casual connections. Sex is more emotional, while loyalty, trust and power sharing have added importance. A Venus-Pluto rendezvous that same morning can bring facilitate that soul-deep bond you want. Privacy is a prerequisite for intimacy. Plunge into strong emotions rather than pulling back from them.

Aries: Fire, cardinal.

ARIES

March 21–April 19

Erratic confidence or finances can affect romance and pleasure on August 2nd as ardent Venus in your joy center quibbles with unpredictable Uranus in your worth arena. Personal and creative fulfillment may wax and wane. Be flexible in your use of what you have going for you. Try not to attach emotions to specific needs. It may not be as simple as you’d like to get what you want, but you can gain insight into what’s truly most valuable to you. The New Moon of August 4th implies new amour could be right around the corner, or you might be on the brink of a fruitful creative period. This lunation wants to inspire you to seek fresh paths to love and happiness, especially if you need a nudge to stop settling for anything less than a fulfilling, well-rounded life.
After Venus dances into your productivity court that night, you’ll feel more in sync with colleagues and able to enjoy getting things done. Maybe you’ll spend more time than usual chatting in the office. You also might beautify your workspace to keep your spirits up while tackling everyday business. But with messenger Mercury pivoting retrograde in that part of your chart soon after, you might overlook details and need to circle back later to fill in the gaps. Be careful what you say at work because crossed wires on the job are common during this phase. On a more positive note, this might be the perfect time to reapply for a job, rethink your routine, research a health issue, revise a project or relearn a skill. When your ruling planet, bold Mars, meets up with expansive Jupiter in your cognition-and-communication camp on the 14th, you may have a chance to sell your ideas or get your views across, but with Mercury offline at the moment, making yourself understood isn’t a slam dunk. You might be better off going out of your way to learn as much as possible. After Mercury reverses into your fulfillment arena that evening, conveying your feelings, personality and humor will be more of a gamble. In the next two weeks, you could reread for pleasure, rediscover a hobby and reminisce about a past love. Keep in mind: Rekindling an old flame might be fun but complicated. When Mars locks horns with strict Saturn on August 15th, you may be your own worst enemy when it comes to standing up for what you think. Private doubts and fears can undercut your assertiveness, and even if you’re the one getting in your way, you might feel irritable. That’s bound to come across in conversations, so take your emotional temperature before you wind up in a testy debate. Venus’s encounter with over-the-top Jupiter on the 19th can generate creative work or spur you to learn a lot from your colleagues. Struggling with a relationship problem? Honest communication and an open mind (which are NOT a given during Mercury’s backspin) might help you solve it. But you could go overboard with what you consider friendly criticism. If you see yourself as trying to be helpful, that can make you oblivious to how your words are actually landing. Venus is also opposing Saturn that day, which can make you doubt your ability to do the work you want to do or make you hesitate to help someone. You can listen to your reservations without letting them rule you. As the Sun and Uranus square off hours later, self-expression or personal fulfillment may suddenly seem to cost more than you bargained for. Flexibility is an asset. You’re capable of navigating this speed bump and enjoying life regardless. A Full Moon is shaking up your network corner — also on the 19th — and may coincide with a large gathering. A blowup with a friend is possible, but you might also be moved to support a friend who’s in need. You might be surrounded by a sea of people, including new acquaintances and contacts. Do your best to balance self-expression and personal pleasure with group interests. If you’ve outgrown your role in an organization, you might decide to sever ties soon. When Jupiter runs into trouble with Saturn a few hours later, your optimistic mindset could be overshadowed by a dark cloud. You might be learning new things, meeting new people, feeling good about what’s next, and then doubts kick in. You can listen to the wisdom of your intuitive inklings without giving in to despair and declaring the glass half-empty. What lessons from the past could help you to create an exciting—but also achievable—future? On the 22nd, the Sun soars into your productivity center, giving you plenty of fuel to tackle challenging tasks, exercise and take care of business day in and day out. Although that solar cycle will last for one month, Venus’s battle with Mars could overshadow it for the day. It’s easy to see what could be improved now, but the person on the receiving end of helpful suggestions may not appreciate having their shortcomings pointed out. Remember all the little things you like about someone, and volunteer those instead. And the same applies if you’re criticizing yourself harshly. Fortunately, Venus harmonizes with Uranus on August 27th, allowing you to tap into a new talent while working on a creative project. Or a coworker might appreciate the unique contribution you make to the team. Getting along with your colleagues and enjoying what you’re doing will make you feel good — and might have an impact on your earning power. You could end up taking a gig that doesn’t pay as much as you wanted for the chance to work with people you like or to work on something fun. But if you’re enjoying being productive, doing something imaginative, working on a relationship or helping someone you care about, the next day’s Venus-Neptune opposition could cause you to become disillusioned or deflated temporarily. A tinge of sadness, doubt, regret or guilt may spoil your pleasure. Try to stay in the moment and keep doing what you’re doing. Thankfully, Mercury will get back in gear that night, restoring your ability to express yourself and to understand what will fulfill you. Companionship becomes increasingly important for three and a half weeks after Venus begins traipsing across your interpersonal angle on August 29th. You’re in an agreeable mood, can get along with almost anyone and should be able to reach mutually beneficial compromises. Plus, it will be easy to connect with new people and express your affection for the VIPs in your life. Also on the 29th, Venus starts things off by canoodling with potent Pluto. If you want to meet someone new, technology and the connections you’ve been building over time can help. You’re starting to reconstruct your circle of friends, acquaintances, contacts and peers, and you might find a love interest through this circle of people. Don’t overlook the power of tech either. Anything from a dating app to social media could hook you up. If you’re happily single or attached, deep friendship and group fun are added bonuses.

Taurus: Earth, fixed.

TAURUS

April 20–May 20

Your patience with a relative or roommate could wear thin on August 2nd as Venus challenges Uranus in Taurus. Try not to overreact to people in your environment who don’t seem to be on your wavelength. If they’ve known you for a long time, it’s possible that they haven’t adjusted yet to who you are today. Or you could be too restless to stay in and relax despite your intent to lie low. If peace and quiet suddenly doesn’t satisfy you, go out and do your own thing instead of rocking the boat and throwing someone else off kilter. Duck out of a social obligation if you need space. The New Moon of August 4th rocks your foundation angle, suggesting that a change in your living situation or your family might be on the horizon.
Although renovating, redecorating or relocating could be in the cards, postpone big decisions about your home life until September when Mercury will be charging full steam ahead (more on that in a moment). In the meantime, you might establish a new self-care ritual, since this lunation has to do with comfort and ease. After lovely Venus arrives in your fulfillment realm that night, you’re inclined to enjoy life more and wear your heart on your sleeve. Now you’re in the mood for romance, fun and creative self-expression and want to show your feelings freely. In the next few weeks, a big part of you wants to play and do whatever gives you pleasure. But with Mercury turning retrograde in that part of your chart hours later, a creative block could strike, or you might feel tongue-tied when trying to speak from the heart. Try rereading something you liked in the past or revising a piece of creative writing. You might rediscover an old hobby or reminisce about an ex and think about rekindling the flame. Bold Mars and excessive Jupiter meet up in your worth zone on the 14th, concocting a recipe for disaster if you’re trying to adhere to a budget. Resist the urge to splurge if money is tight. You might channel this abundant energy toward working hard to earn more. Or you could throw yourself into a possession purge or organizing spree. After Mercury backslides down to the base of your chart that night, your mind will drift to the past, and you might rethink your living situation. Stroll down memory lane in search of fresh insights. Or reconnect with a relative or childhood friend. If you’re acting in your own best interests on the 15th, don’t push others to cosign. Take-charge Mars is opposing stalwart Saturn, and you might hit a brick wall if you force matters. Your instinct now is to do what’s necessary to secure what you need. If you require the stamp of approval from others, make sure you’ve covered all your bases. A Venus-Jupiter dustup on August 19th can trigger a spending spree to sate your appetite for pretty things that please you. Keep in mind that the object of your desire might not be worth as much as you imagine. But give yourself permission to enjoy life, because attraction, creativity and playfulness can all increase your confidence. Just don’t fall into the trap of waiting for an even greater payoff. Appreciate the moment. Soon after, a Venus-Saturn standoff might pit personal pleasure against group obligations. Or your friends might not support your attraction to a particular person. Don’t allow peer pressure to steal your joy, but listen to constructive feedback if it’s offered. Hours later, the Sun provokes Uranus in your sign, triggering a sudden need to liberate yourself—perhaps from the past. Release stuck emotions or an old pattern privately if possible, rather than lashing out at others. Further complicating matters, that day’s Full Moon could land you in the middle of a parental conflict or force you to juggle your home life and ambitions. A goal might finally come to fruition, especially if you’ve been making good use of your resources. And your career path could reach a crossroads, requiring you to recalibrate your objectives. Plus, it’s possible you’ll find yourself in the spotlight — so be prepared to perform at your best. A few hours later, Jupiter goes up against Saturn, and you may start to question whether your personal values and priorities fit with your circle of friends, other groups you associate with or society itself. Maybe your self-worth is growing, or your finances are in better shape, but you’re grappling with the issue of what you “owe” to others. You might make a generous donation to a cause you’re very serious about or contribute your talents to support a team effort or philanthropic endeavor. The Sun’s arrival in your fulfillment realm on August 22nd encourages you to be yourself and let your creative, romantic or fun-loving side out to play in the coming month. When Venus and Mars scuffle that night, the love or happiness you crave may seem to be at odds with your personal values, your financial strategy or your core needs. At that point, you might question whether what you want is good for you. A disagreement between these two planets can tempt us to behave in a way that isn’t in our own best interest. It can also enhance the allure of something or someone, making it nearly impossible to resist. Venus’s flirtation with carefree Uranus on the 27th can generate generosity, affection, romance, creativity and play. An attraction or fun experience could come to you out of the blue, bringing a dose of excitement. You need to shake things up, so avoid routine and enjoy life in an unexpected way. Anything from an artistic endeavor to a crush will get your juices flowing. The next day’s faceoff between Venus and Neptune could throw you for a loop if the line between friend and lover becomes blurred. An attraction to a pal isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But be careful not to misinterpret signals or put someone on a pedestal. Escapist fun with friends is favored with this opposition, so a big night out might be in order. With Mercury powering forward that night, communication with family members and housemates begins to improve, and you won’t feel as confused by your own moods. After Venus shows up in your productivity precinct on August 29th, work relationships and working ON relationships will hopefully come easy for the next few weeks. Enjoy pleasant camaraderie with colleagues and approach daily tasks with a positive attitude. You’ll get satisfaction out of being useful, so say yes to reasonable favors and do creative work with a practical purpose in mind. If you’re looking for new romantic prospects, you might meet your match at regular haunts like the office or gym. Venus’s chemistry with Pluto that same day promises deep satisfaction if you’re in a flow doing something you enjoy. Pour your heart and imagination into your efforts. Work in harmony with others if you’re involved in a collaboration. You can also strengthen your resolve to achieve shared aims with a partner. Or valuing your health could inspire you to set an ambitious goal.

Gemini: Air, mutable.

GEMINI

May 21–June 20

Tune in to what’s going on in the back of your head on August 2nd, as it’s likely to color the tone of your interactions. Amiable Venus in your communication camp is at odds with unpredictable Uranus in your subliminal sector. A secret urge for freedom might lead you to flirt, which could pose a problem if you’re in a committed relationship — and the object of your affection isn’t your partner. Seek out harmless excitement to stave off boredom and keep yourself out of trouble. The New Moon of August 4th suggests a development related to your siblings or neighborhood might be imminent, or you might begin to gather information and put the pieces together.
A hunger for learning can lead you to embark on a new course of study or dig into a fresh stack of books. If you’re restless, daytrips and local explorations can scratch the itch. With Venus descending to your domestic corner that night, you’ll savor the pleasures of home and family in the next few weeks. You might host a party at your place, do some decorating, get into cooking or baking, hang with your housemates or spend quality time with your couch — catching up on your favorite shows or your sleep. Comfort and calm will hold more appeal than socializing, so no regrets when you send your regrets! Your ruling planet, Mercury, pivots retrograde that night, sending you on a trip down memory lane. You might reminisce privately or reconnect with a family member or someone from childhood. Communication on the home front will get a bit tricky, and you may find yourself rethinking your living situation. If you’re in the mood to talk about your feelings, there’s a chance you’ll feel misunderstood. So introspection, journaling and speaking to a healing professional like a psychotherapist may be safer bets. As bold Mars and courageous Jupiter join forces in Gemini on the 14th, a surge of drive and confidence empowers you to move mountains. Be careful not to bulldoze though. This extreme energy will almost definitely cause you to come on like gangbusters. Operate independently if possible and attempt something that takes guts and strength. You can do a lot to advance your cause now. Just be sure it’s a righteous one. Once Mercury backs into your cognition-and-communication center that night, you’ll need to be extra patient with crossed wires and travel difficulties for the next two weeks. You might get back in touch with people you haven’t talked to in a long time, review information, revisit a nearby place or rewrite something. Mars locks horns with stern Saturn in your authority angle on August 15th, warning you not to fight the system. Do your best to play by the rules and navigate a bureaucracy if necessary. Translate any pushback from higher-ups (such as a boss or parent) into parameters that guide your actions rather than feeling shot down and throwing in the towel. With Venus challenging Jupiter on August 19th, you’ll be tempted to overindulge in simple comforts like sleep, food and drink. Plus, the pleasures of home are likely to compete with loftier aspirations — and you probably hope you can pull off having it all. Should you get cozy in your nest or spread your wings and fly free? Curl up with someone familiar or explore new, exciting possibilities? Let the wave of enthusiasm carry you for a bit, but don’t try not to lose your bearings. As the vibrant Sun argues with Uranus hours later, your conscious thoughts and words will be at odds with subconscious impulses, and an unplanned disclosure can throw a curveball into a conversation. You may seem impatient, disagreeable or rash, depending on the urges that are influencing your speech. That same day, a Full Moon in your expansion zone can trigger an urge for adventure or a major shift in your belief system, as your need for a change of scene and perspective pushes increases. If you’ve been harboring a personal philosophy or conviction for a long time that has stunted your growth, consider this your cue to leave it behind you. With unbridled Jupiter in your sign, this is no time to limit your potential. But a few hours later, as Jupiter provokes Saturn, you might feel quite sure of yourself and challenge authority. Or maybe you’ll come up against the limits of what you can feasibly achieve. You could discover that you’re better off working within a system in your pursuit of personal growth. Or maybe you need to listen to constructive criticism or wise advice and use it to shape your big dream into something more doable. You’ll focus even more of your attention on home and family after the Sun arrives in your domestic corner on August 22nd for a monthlong stay. You won’t become a recluse, but you will need downtime to relax and reflect. That night’s Venus-Mars dustup could create an internal conflict between the allure of nesting and the drive to get a lot done. Or you may come on quite strong and upset the equilibrium in your family or home. You might need to watch your tone and soften your approach in order to keep the peace. It’s easy to overdo it when fiery Mars is charging through your sign. Find a way to let strong feelings out and still maintain a positive mood. Your loquacious, lighthearted sign can pull that off! When Venus embraces Uranus on the 27th, you might get unstuck from lingering emotions and revel in a new sense of liberation. Is it time to let go of an old love or become more independent from your family? Both are possible. If you’re in a relationship, revealing private thoughts and personal secrets can bring a rush of closeness. The next day’s entanglement between Venus and Neptune could make you feel a bit aimless. You might be content to relish domestic pleasures and not feel very motivated to achieve goals out in the world. But it’s feasible to do very creative work in the comfort of your own home, so use your imagination. You might get confused about your relationship with an authority figure and perhaps feel let down by someone you built up. Fortunately, your galactic guardian, Mercury, resumes forward motion that night. After that, you’ll gradually start to feel more capable of making smart choices and conveying your thoughts, views and ideas. After amorous, artistic Venus sashays into your fulfillment realm on August 29th for a three-and-a-half-week tour, you’re inclined to flirt, play, show off your creativity and generally enjoy life. Make time for dates, hobbies, fun with friends and artistic pursuits. Express your affection freely and let people see the real you. That same day, Venus shares an encounter with powerful Pluto in your exploration arena that inspires memorable pleasures. Don’t color inside the lines. Venture outside your comfort zone to get the most out of this planetary pairing. A learning experience or adventure can be deeply satisfying now and might even shift your whole outlook.

CANCER

June 21–July 22

With Venus in your worth arena throwing darts at unpredictable Uranus in your network zone on August 2nd, you may or may not get what you want from friends or another group. You want what you want but may need to adapt your personal requests, depending on what people have to offer. Give them a chance to surprise you. Or give them the space to want different things. The New Moon of August 4th suggests a fresh source of income could be in the pipeline. This is a good time to start thinking about how you earn money and how you might improve your finances. Venus arrives in your thinking-and-talking sector that night, bringing pleasant thoughts and interactions and helping you see the beauty in your environment.
You’ll be in a cheerful mood this month and may be inspired to tell people how you feel. This Venus position can make you flirtatious, enabling you to draw in your crush and engage in witty banter. That same night, messenger Mercury goes retrograde, throwing a wrench in communication and travel. Try to keep your sense of humor at all times. Mercury is the trickster planet, and many of his pranks are more of a nuisance than a catastrophe. Hold off on signing paperwork like contracts. If you can help it, don’t have important conversations until September, when Merc will be back up to speed. The same goes for big decisions. Everyone’s judgment is iffy now, and you may end up having to walk something back if you make a significant statement or choice now. Keep an eye out for simmering anger or an old behavior pattern on August 14th as bold Mars aligns with expansive Jupiter in your subliminal corner. You might act in a way that even you weren’t expecting, due to the unconscious emotions and impulses these planets are stirring up. But you could also work behind the scenes to fight for truth and justice or take a risk that’s inspired by compassion. Mercury backs into your worth arena that evening, calling for you to ask yourself what’s most important to you. Are you satisfied with how you’re making a living? What do you base your self-esteem on? Are you maximizing your innate gifts? Are you living in alignment with your core values? How can you become more self-sufficient and fiscally secure? If you’re tempted to splurge on something, consider whether you need it or want it. If the answer is want, what deeper desire do you expect it to fulfill? The next night’s Mars-Saturn showdown can cause you to run up against the limits of what you know. You may have slipped into an old habit without realizing it and are about to be made aware of what you’re doing wrong. You’re not getting much credit for what you’re doing while Mars is tucked away at the end of your chart — and now it may suddenly feel like the system is rigged against you. When Venus tangles with Jupiter on August 19th, an optimistic mindset and pleasant interactions could spur an empathetic desire to help others who may be less fortunate than you. You might build someone up in your head though if fondness veers into fantasy, so aim to love with true acceptance, not hopeful illusion. Your lens isn’t objective under this influence, and you may need a reminder that nothing is quite as it appears. As Venus and Saturn face off soon after, concerns about the future could detract from the pleasures of the moment, and you may worry over interpreting words and intent. Try to see the glass as half full. The Sun argues with Uranus hours later, hinting that greed or possessiveness could make waves. Group interests and friendship aren’t lining up neatly with your concept of what you need, so reaching agreeable terms with people won’t be a cinch. Money, belongings, priorities, values and sharing are bound to be a bit of a minefield. Try not to get impatient hoping for satisfaction from others. That same day, a Full Moon in your depth-and-sharing sector makes closeness extra emotional. Someone you care about may want you to put them first, particularly if you’ve been focused on your own agenda. Be willing to support someone important to you if they’re truly in need. It’s also possible something in your psyche will come to light and you’ll be able to transform it. A few hours later, Jupiter’s feud with Saturn could pit inner faith against hard-earned knowledge. Maybe what you hope to be true seems to be at odds with what you think you know to be true. Should you trust intuitive guidance or lessons you’ve learned in your life? Despite the tension, you may learn something profound now — possibly about unity or compassion. On the 22nd, the Sun darts into your cognition-and-communication center, energizing you to get out and see people, speak your mind and let your curiosity lead the way. When Venus and Mars square off that night, your positive attitude and amiable interactions may be undermined by unconscious aggression. Keep tabs on your subliminal motives. They might be causing you to indirectly sabotage something good. You may not want to start a fight, but your behavior could somehow indicate your irritability. A harmonious encounter between Venus and Uranus on the 27th means your best bets for meeting new people are large gatherings, technology, friends and the circle of people you already know. So start swiping, mingling and working your contacts if you’re interested in making a match. Already paired off? You might spend time as a couple with mutual friends or give each other space to hang out with your respective squads. A frank dialogue or a pleasant feeling of camaraderie between you could come out of nowhere and enliven your connection. When Venus goes head to head with Neptune on August 28th, you’ll be inclined to believe what you want to believe, so you’re not in a good position to agree to anything major. Although your rational judgment is clouded, the upside of this transit is empathy, and you may feel a strong spiritual connection with people who are less fortunate than you. You may be viewing the world through rose-colored glasses, but it wouldn’t be a mistake to show you care, especially if truth or justice are at stake. Mercury gets back in gear that same day, your financial judgment and your ability to set priorities will improve. There’s no place like home after Venus dips down to your foundation angle on August 29th, highlighting the joys of domesticity. You could get into an extra nostalgic, sentimental mood or feel inspired to host parties or invite houseguests for a visit. Maybe you just want to unwind solo and enjoy creature comforts like delicious food and guilty pleasures like binge-watching. Or a desire to decorate could strike, and you’ll beautify your space in the next few weeks. While you’re in nesting mode, Venus’s tête-à-tête with Pluto that same day hints that coziness could have a sexy twist. If the spirit moves you, get up close and personal behind closed doors rather than making social plans. Or immerse yourself in a pleasure or project you’re passionate about.
