Gift The Ritual Of Palo Santo

Bringing ritual and reverence to the daily routine.

If you are smelling the sweet, earthy fragrance of Palo Santo, it is because somewhere in South or Central America, a tropical "Bursera graveolens” tree matured for many decades, died a natural death, and then rested on the forest floor to ferment for several more years. Only with patience and respect for this process is the fragrant oil produced. Palo Santo has been used for medicinal and spiritual purposes for thousands of years. Originating in the time of the Incas, this “holy wood” has long been believed to be purifying and cleansing for the body, spirit, and the land. The contemporary world often returns to what the ancients have always known and you can now find Palo Santo popping up in many modern spaces. Both calming and uplifting, this sacred wood can bring a little bit of ritual and reverence to your daily routines (and makes for a great gift, too).

FOR WHEN YOU NEED MORE THAN JUST A SHOWER

There are regular ol’ shower gels, and then there are magic potions made from Rainforest Grown Symbiotic® Sacha Inchi and Rahua oils. The intention (and yes, magic) that goes into making Rahua Shower Gel is evident from the moment you encounter its luscious lather. Made with organic and pure plant-derived ingredients, this Palo Santo body wash transformed my regular bath experience into a ritual of pleasure and care. It is a gorgeous blend of calming lavender, uplifting eucalyptus, sweet vanilla, and woodsy Palo Santo. Rich in antioxidants and omega-3 and omega-9 fatty acids, my skin was left glowing.

WHY NOT SMELL AMAZING WHILE YOU SLEEP?

If you’re anything like me, you often find yourself contemplating the meaning of life while you would rather be sleeping. Among its many therapeutic and spiritual benefits, Palo Santo essential oil is said to be calming for the nervous system. So, when it occurred to me that I might be able to wear this intoxicating scent to bed, I must admit I felt like a genius. The sacred fragrance of Palo Santo is carried by hints of citrus and gardenia — making this Rahua Perfume Oil a real delight to the senses. The elegant rollerball application made my before bedtime ritual sweet and easeful.

ARMPITS FIT FOR A QUEEN

Sometimes I shave my armpits. Sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I wear deodorant. Sometimes I don’t. Today I decided to do both. And let me tell you, when I felt the smooth silkiness of this not-so-Humble Palo Santo Deodorant glide effortlessly across my bare skin, I was glad for my decision. Often, natural deodorants leave me wanting in the texture department. But not this one. It was, dare I say, luxurious in feel. I put on more than I probably needed to just because it felt so good. Not sure how they do it, with only four simple ingredients plus botanically-based fragrances, but it kept me fresh all day.

WHEN YOU NEED A WALK IN THE WOODS BUT ONLY HAVE TIME TO WASH YOUR HANDS

The Japanese have a practice called Shinrin-yoku, or “Forest Bathing.” Science, and experience, deem it health-boosting and stress-reducing. And while I know first-hand that nature leaves me feeling healed, I don’t always have time to venture in. But, I do always have time to wash my hands. And, that’s where Free People’s Eucalyptus + Siberian Pine Hand Wash comes in real, um, handy. The smell is like a portal into dense and sun-dappled woods. With invigorating Eucalyptus, refreshing Siberian pine, and a hint of Palo Santo — it is its own kind of “forest bathing.”
