Freepeople.com Holiday Return Policy

Purchases made from 11/01/2016 through 12/24/2016 on freepeople.com and in Free People stores may be returned for credit towards the original form of payment through 1/31/2017. Items must be returned in original condition with attached price tickets and must be accompanied by the packing list or original sales receipt. All other conditions of our Return Policy apply.

Gift Returns - The original order number from the packing list or Order Confirmation email is required to process gift returns for purchases made on freepeople.com. Please include this with your gift.

Gift Returns

If you received a gift from freepeople.com, click Order Status and enter the information to print a pre-paid return label or use your own return shipping method. Once the return is received, an e-gift card will be issued for the amount of the return to the email address provided. The original order number and Billing Zip code is required to process your gift return. If you don’t have this information, contact us or call us at 800-309-1500. To help us locate the gift order, we’ll need the first and last name for the person who purchased the gift and their email address (preferred). We are unable to process returns at our warehouse for items purchased at a Free People store.

Freepeople.com Return Policy - United States

We’ll gladly accept unworn, unwashed, or defective merchandise purchased on freepeople.com for return or exchange.

For returns received within 30 days of delivery, we’ll credit your original form of payment. If received after 30 days, a Free People gift card will be issued.

If returning swim & intimates, vintage items, beauty products, or furniture pieces, please see our policies below.

Please note: If you paid with a gift card or e-gift card, a new gift card or e-gift card in the amount of the credit will be issued and mailed/emailed to you accordingly. Gift cards cannot be returned or exchanged.

When Will I Be Refunded?

Your return will usually be processed within a week to a week and a half. We’ll send you a Return Notification email to notify you once the return has been completed. Please allow 1-3 business days for refunds to be received to the original form of payment once the return has been processed.

How to Return Merchandise - United States

Use the pre-paid, pre-addressed SmartLabel® found on your packing list or print a label online! You can also use your own trackable return shipping method. See below for details.

Print a Pre-paid Return SmartLabel® Online (US only) - $5.95:

If you have a Free People account, Sign in and click on Order History to locate the order. If you checked out as a Guest or received a gift, click on Order Status to locate the order. $5.95 per returned package will be deducted from your return credit.

After locating the order you wish to return, select Create A Return and follow the 3 easy steps. We’ll send an email which you can use to track your return or reprint the label if you misplace it. Make sure to check your junk and spam folders.

Use the Pre-paid Return SmartLabel® on Your Packing List (US only) - $5.95

Your packing list includes a pre-paid, pre-addressed return SmartLabel®. $5.95 per returned package will be deducted from your return credit.

Step 1 Pack your return securely and in the original packaging (if possible). Place the top half of your packing list which includes your order number and return reason code inside the package.

Step 2 Remove the SmartLabel® from the bottom of the packing list and affix it to the outside of the package. Make sure to remove other shipping labels and seal the package.

Step 3 Hand off to your postal carrier, schedule a pickup on www.usps.com, or take it to any authorized USPS facility.

Gift Returns

Store Return Policy

Free People stores will gladly accept returns of items purchased from freepeople.com or from a Free People store. Items must be in original condition and must not to be worn, used, altered or washed. Store locations do not accept returns for Beauty products.

Items purchased in a Free People store must be returned to a Free People store. Items must include the attached Free People price tickets and be accompanied by the original store sales receipt.

Your original form of payment will be refunded for items returned to a Free People store within 30 days of purchase. If returned after 30 days, a Free People merchandise credit card will be issued. Merchandise credit will also be issued for returns of beauty and personal care items accompanied by a store receipt within 30 days of purchase.

Returns with a gift receipt will be exchanged or refunded for the value indicated on the gift receipt. Refunds will be made in the form of a merchandise credit card.

Please note: Free People merchandise purchased at independent boutiques and department stores must be returned to the location where purchased. Please contact the individual boutique or store for their return policy.

Beauty Items - Store Return Policy

Store locations do not accept returns for Beauty products purchased on freepeople.com. All beauty products purchased on freepeople.com must be returned unopened, unused, and in original condition and packaging to our Returns warehouse.

Exchange Policy

Even Exchanges: Ordered the wrong size or color? No worries! If you need the same item in a different size or color, we’ll waive the pre-paid SmartLabel® fee and the new shipping cost for domestic orders. In a hurry? Call us at 800-309-1500 to place your exchange.

Uneven Exchanges: If you’d like to exchange your merchandise for a different item, the return pre-paid SmartLabel® fee and new shipping fees will apply.

Please note: If you requested an item for exchange that we no longer have available, we’ll process a return instead. If this should happen, you’ll receive a return email to notify you about the return.

Price Adjustments

If you have purchased items that are now on sale, we will gladly offer you a one-time price adjustment if you contact us within 14 days of the original date of shipment or in-store purchase.

For online or phone orders, please call (800) 309-1500 Contact us to request a price adjustment. We do not offer price adjustments on shipping charges.

For store purchases, please stop by your local store with your sales receipt. Visit our store locator to find the location nearest you.

We’re unable to offer price adjustments for temporary promotions or discounts. Promotions or discounts can’t be applied retroactively to orders placed before the promotion discount was activated. Credits will be applied back to the original form of payment. If you paid with a gift card or e-gift card, a new gift card or e-gift card will be issued for the amount of the credit.

Please note: We’re unable to process price adjustments for merchandise purchased at our independent boutiques and department stores.

Swim & Intimates Returns

We’re unable to process returns for swimwear or intimate apparel items that have been worn or are returned in a soiled condition. All intimate apparel must be returned in original condition, with original packaging and tags attached. All swimwear must be in new and unused condition with sanitary strips in place.

Vintage Loves & Vintage Revival Returns

Items from our Vintage Loves line cannot be returned. Please make your selections with care and carefully review all product information and sizing before making a purchase. Need help or have questions? Please contact us.

Beauty Returns

We’re unable to process returns for opened and used beauty products. All beauty products purchased on freepeople.com must be returned unopened, unused, and in original condition and packaging to our Returns warehouse. Store locations do not accept returns for Beauty products purchased on freepeople.com.

Furniture Returns

Furniture may be returned for a refund or exchange within 30 days of delivery. Items must be returned in like-new condition with original packaging and materials. Customers are responsible for any return shipping costs. If after 30 days, we’ll replace or refund your purchase for manufacturer defects only.
