Bye-Bye, Boring Beige
Maximalist Dressing Is Here To Stay
Sad, boring beige outfitting is out, merry maximalism is so in.
Okay, so at FP, this never really left. We’ve always been a destination for unique, hand-touched styles you just can’t find anywhere else. And we get it, trends come and go. Buzzwords like “clean girl aesthetic” and “quiet luxury” have shaped the fashion scene for quite some time now–and trust, we have plenty of those sleek basics to round out your wardrobe–but what happened to having fun with your clothes? I’m talking oversized silhouettes. Loud prints. Chunky knitwear. Tons of layers. Adding a fun scarf and sparkly brooches, just because you can. In this house, more is more. Let’s breathe some life into our closets again.
13 Maximalist Outfit Essentials
Here’s what’s on my current “maximalist” outfitting wishlist:
THE NOT-YOUR-GRANDMA’S CARDI
But it’s cute and charming enough to pass as such. This silhouette is adorable, and the embroidery throughout is the perfect finishing touch. Paired with a bold half slip, colorful tights, and a giant faux fur jacket? Need.
THE SUBTLE TOUCH OF SPARKLE
I’m a firm believer that tights look good with everything. Add some sparkle in there? Even better. These are an easy way to winterize your favorite party dresses or mini lengths.
THE “WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE?” JEANS
These jeans are the definition of wearing something statement-making, without the style “wearing you.” The print is so bold, but the silhouette is ultra-wearable. Play with proportion with a delicate babydoll top or a chunky sweater, throw on some layered jewelry, and just have fun with it.
THE ONE WITH THE BIG COLLAR
A bomber meets a cardigan meets an oversized collar? No notes. Add the balabonnet (more on that later), a bold duster, and viola. You’ve basically made the perfect outfit.
THE ACCESSORY OF THE SEASON
Let me introduce the aforementioned “balabonnet” (and yes, this one has sequins). We’re loving this mix of “balaclava” and “bonnet” silhouettes for the perfect cold-weather accessory that’s just better than a beanie. Adding some cat-eye sunnies with this? Iconic.
THE GROWN-UP SPARKLY SHOES
Let’s keep the sequins theme going. We love the Everyday Flats so much, we made a sequined version. Perfect for printed jeans, oversized sweaters, party dresses, wearing around the house in PJs…it’s your world.
THE VINTAGE-WITHOUT-THE-HUNT JACKET
Soft velvet. Delicate beading that hits the light just right. Buttoned cuffs for that only-at-FP touch. This Victorian-inspired jacket adds the right amount of charm to every look–pair it with a maxi dress, animal prints, and everything in between.
THE WEARABLE ART TIGHTS
Another nod to the eras before this one. These whimsical yet wearable tights feature a vintage-inspired floral print throughout. Wear them under a sweater dress, add some fun accessories, and go.
THE SET THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF
We essentially transformed your favorite sweater into the perfect 2-in-1 look. Ultra-cozy together, effortless to mix and match, and so fun for pairing with cold-weather accessories. It’s bold, it’s warm, and it’s the definition of maximalist.
THE MAIN CHARACTER MITTENS
These bring just enough drama to make even those blistering cold days bearable. So fun, so chic, and so giftable for every main character in your life.
THE FAUX-REAL DEAL
You don’t get to call yourself a maximalist without an oversized furry jacket. This one is that perfect oversized fit with an exaggerated collar that is just so effortlessly cool. With bold flare jeans and a lace top? Chef’s kiss.
THE BOLD BLOOMER
Did you hear? Bloomers are so back. This burnout floral version of the original is just so fun. Layer these with sequin slips, sheer tops, and a faux-fur coat for that “lead singer of your dream band” look.
THE QUINTESSENTIAL CHEETAH COAT
You don’t think I could forget a little cheetah print, do you? I love this one because of the denim fabrication. It’s perfect for nearly every season, but brings that extra something to every outfit. And because cheetah print is a neutral in my book, you can wear this with your loudest prints and boldest embellishments without feeling over-the-top.
So, I encourage you to find your inner maximalist this season. Wear the fun colors. Buy the fuzzy coat. Everyone deserves to feel like a star–we just happen to have the pieces that make you look like one, too.
