STUNNING! - DON'T SIZE UP
I was pondering over this jacket for a few weeks, mainly because of the mixed reviews on the sizing. I usually wear a FP XS & a size 2 in jackets. I like my jackets to be a bit fitted not oversized or baggy as I am only 4.11" I called FP New York, (since my husband was collecting this in store whilst on business) they were extremely helpful as always & advised me to just stick with my usual size, so my hubby bought home a size 2. I am a 34 B bust & I'm not "super skinny" just a normal size, The jacket was a perfect fit, DO NOT size up, that is unless you want a very casual fit or are planning on wearing a jumper underneath. I will be wearing FP dresses or shirts & I do still have enough room, without the jacket being too tight over clothing. I was worried the arms would be very skinny, whilst they are slim, I can bend my arms with ease & comfort, though the jacket does make your arms look very slim, another plus! The arms are a great length too. I can zip the jacket up, no problem. I would say the Jacket is well represented by the pictures, how it fits on the model is how it fits on me, which is amazing since we all know the FP models are so slim & tall, yet another plus. The detailing on the jacket is stunning & its so well made! Regarding colour its almost the same as the picture though the blue is not quite as bright & the stars & strips are a very aged off white, its even better in the flesh because it has a slight brown antique tinge to it in places it totally rocks a real show stopper as far as denim jackets go! If your on the fence about this, I'd say buy it, your wardrobe will thank you! Just stick with your usual size :)
Cool twist on a classic
The pics of this jacket are definitely brighter than the jacket I received so keep that in mind. Still loving it though because I like the more "lived in" look! Based on reviews I was concerned my normal FP jacket size of a 12 (broad shoulders) would still be too small, but I was pleasantly surprised that it fit and even had more room than expected. If I were to size down it would be hard to raise my arms and forget about wearing thicker thermals! So while other reviewers felt they should size up, I recommend staying to your true size, especially if want to zip it. For a more tighter fit without zipping it, size down. But regardless of what size you choose, expect to be complimented!!!
My new favorite jacket!
Wow! This is one amazing jacket! The denim is SUPER soft and very comfortable to wear. I am usually a 0 and sometimes I'll get a 2 in jackets, but I ordered the 0 and it was great. In Vegas you layer with tanks, but if you want to wear a thermal or long sleeve top under it you might want to size up. The photos show it as a blue denim, but it has a browner hue in person (which is much better for me). The distressing is great and it has some very expensive looking detail. This jacket is fantastic!
This is a FABULOUS denim jacket! It is a tiny bit more faded than the photos which actually makes it cooler and gives it that "well loved" look. I too usually wear a 0 or 2 but listened to my fellow reviewers and ordered a 4. It's perfect for me and isn't too snug anywhere. Yet another happy find at FREE PEOPLE!
Sturdy, structured, stunning in person
This jacket is more amazing in person than I thought it would be; and that’s impressive considering I fell in love with it the second I saw it. Like the other reviewer I wear an XS or 2 in FP tops/jackets but based on the measurement of the size 6 on the model I decided to get a size 4 and it fits perfect (I am a 34B cup size for reference). Based on the pictures I was a little worried that the arms would be tight as I lift weights and have larger biceps but they fit well and are not snug. This jacket is made with thick sturdy denim, not lightweight like a typical denim jacket. That will allow you to wear it for warmth later in the year and it gives the jacket more structure as it fits just like a leather motorcycle jacket. In some of the pictures online the blue denim looks bright but in person it’s a dull subdued color that works well with the black denim and the aged off-white look on the stars. I am only 5’3” so I have short to average arms and the arm length fits me perfect; in addition the jacket hits me at the bottom of my natural waist.
Love Americana Style
I really didn't need another denim moto jacket, but the styling on this one caught my eye. I usually wear a size XSmall or 2 in FP jackets, but sized up to a 4 because I wanted to be able to layer a long-sleeved shirt underneath. I am so glad I did, because there is just enough room for a thermal shirt under the jacket sleeves without the sleeves feeling like they are too tight. It is a bit more fitted than some of the other FP jackets, especially when zipped up. The fabric is a true 100% cotton denim, so it is a nice midweight without any stretch. I love the darker oil-stained finish on the denim as it gives it character without the abraded destructed look of last year. The stars and stripes are more off-white or taupe than white in color. The zippers on the cuffs are a nice touch. All of the pockets are functional. It looks great with jeans, leggings, and thrown over any of FP's cute slip and maxi dresses.
