Antique romance at its very best. Intricate pleating and a dropped-waist bib give way to embroidered pink dot clusters, woven ribbon trim, and the dreamiest whisper-light cotton finished with an abstract geometric print. A hidden button placket at the side of the bib keeps the silhouette beautifully uninterrupted, while the softest, breeziest cotton makes this rare piece feel surprisingly wearable. Every detail feels impossibly delicate, yet somehow it's survived well over a century.

She does show a few signs of her remarkable life-a few tiny holes and the left sleeve have been thoughtfully mended, and there's a spot on the lower skirt. We like to think she snagged herself climbing through a garden gate after politely ignoring the "Do Not Pick the Roses" sign. We weren't there, but it feels right.
