Spell & the Gypsy Collective
Sisters Isabella and Elizabeth began the brand in Byron Bay over five years ago. The bohemian label, known for its signature playsuits and floor-skimming kimonos, is made for the girl who dreams of a far-away wonderland, who rules rock-chic, who wears white to get it oh-so dusty, floating down the beach in floral.
Wanted to love it...but returning
I was so ready to love this dress. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be. I don't have much of a defined waist and the dress skimmed way too close to my waist and also tied there...not the look i was after. There are so many other great FP dresses that are a lot more flattering on my body type...the fable dress, first kiss dress, etc...not to mention that they are better price points. I would have kept it if I'd liked the fit better but truthfully this seems overpriced for what amounts to a glorified duster...unlined and you can see through where it buttons up. Back it goes :(
This dress is to die for the colors are just as vibrant as shown. Spell is one of my favorite brands and I love that FP carries them. I'm 5'8 and normally a small or extra small in FP and a S/M to small at Spell. I ordered the small and it fit perfectly, I have plenty of room to move around in it and can use the drawstring waste to make it a little tighter if I want. Normally I prefer my clothes on the looser side and this dress was just right in a size small. Warning! It is a little sheer in the sunlight, but if you are used to Spells clothing (or rayon in general) that's nothing new.
I always am on the look out for when FP gets Spell product! This dress is stunning! The colors are rich and the fabric has a nice weight to it. I love how versatile it can be when unbuttoned and worn as a duster. I am 5'2" and 125lbs and typically wear an extra small at FP but with my experience with Spell I usually size up to a small for a more bohemian breezy look. For this particular piece, I went with a small, the draw string waist makes it flowy without loosing shape. The extra small would of fit, but it definitely would of skimmed my body closer and that's not the fit I was looking for. The length is perfect for petite girls, I won't have to wear heels with this one! FP please stock more Spell!!
