not really as pictured
i wanted so much for this dress to fit because it looks gorgeous in the picture, but it was really disappointing. i ordered it in black and the first thing i noticed was the material. it doesn't feel how it looks, it's itchy and its's not something you'd want to spend time in. I looked past it and decide to try it on. However, the head opening was so small i could barely get my head through and the dress was big on me. i'm tiny so i expected the XS to be big, but the fit was strange. it fit really tightly in some places and loosely in others. the hem on the slip was messed up, something i read in many other reviews. overall, the dress was not as pictured and not functional or flattering. i was really sad because it looks perfect in the picture, but the quality was just not there.
Not on me!
So wanted to love this dress that I bought it in two colors ; wine and peach. The dress looks so elegant on the model, but on my 5'4" 145lb curvy body it was a hot mess. The dress itself is beautiful and well made, but it needs to be worn by a tall, lean women. I had to sadly return both.
Cute with the right styling
I bought this dress in the peach in a S. Online the color looks pink but in person it is peach. I’m typically an XS in FP and sized up to a S. As the other reviewer said the dress is a bit baggy on the top but if you pull the dress down and belt it then it looks fine. Anthropologie has a lot of great embellished belts that work well with this dress; for reference I’m a 34B. At 5’3” the length was surprisingly well suited to my height, I can wear 3” heels and the length is perfect. The sleeves are a bit tight although I lift weights so that’s a regular occurrence with lace sleeves for me. The design all over the dress is really remarkable in person. I don’t love the slip that comes with the dress but if you want it to match the dress you don’t have a lot of options. The slip hangs lower than the bottom of the thick lacy patter which looks like a mistake until you notice it’s like that in the pictures online; if it didn’t hang below the design though it would be rather short. It also doesn’t have a straight neckline; it has the V-shaped cups, which I think is tacky. However, if you have long hair you can pull it to the front and then the slip underneath looks like it has a straight neckline.
Design not as pictured, tighter in sleeve
I thought this one was a no-brainer, but am disappointed. The dress I have received after a long wait on back order is not the same design as the picture. It is similar, but does not have the keyhole opening at the back, pictured and mentioned as a feature in the description. It is just all one piece up to the small round neckline with no opening/fastening at all. The armhole seam does not run across from the lower armhole to the centre neckline as pictured, but is a more conventional straight inset seam from top of shoulder to under arm, which makes the sleeve itself tighter (even a bit restrictive) and lacking in the loose but tapering sleeve pictured. The front is similar to the pictures, but again, the sleeve inset is straight, and not the diagonal pictured. This makes the the bodice squarer and puffier than pictured, and looks awful on me (36/38C/D) as it puffs out all the way down to the waist in a sort of bulbous squarish shape making me look twice as big as I actually am! I think other ladies of measurement 36" and up might have the same problem. I am UK 14/16 FPM/L 5'6" and tried the M and L. Both sort of fit but both were unflattering because of the unexpected square line and the puffiness. This is really a bit annoying because the dress I have received is not the same cut as the one I thought I was ordering, and I wasted the money on expedited shipping: this happened with the Queen of the Night slip dress which also was completely different to the one pictured when back orders were taken. I also honestly think that the nylon fabric is nothing special and does not merit anywhere near the price tag. FP really does sell some gorgeous clothes but sometimes this mismatch between picture and reality is not acceptable.
