non to par
As a gift to self, I decided to purchase this beauty of a dress during the promotional 50% off sale. Even at half off, I cannot say it was worth it. The outer cover is noticeably shorter than the inner lining, which was surprising because I read the opposite in some reviews (large error margin?). It is way short, and the quality is not at all what one would expect for the price. I do not plan to return it since there are not many stores near me, but hopefully I can accessorize it into looking less cheap.
Not Good for Curves
This dress is not a good fit for a curvy body type (it hides nothing)!! The inside liner of the dress is very tight and shorter than the embroidered part of the dress. It is a really pretty dress and I wanted to like it but other than it just not being a good fit for my body type, it provided little to no shape and the neck line was too high. I had to return this dress for somthing else.
Issue with the gathers at the bodice
There was too much gathering where the top part is stitched to the bottom part of the dress just under the arms. For some reason there was twice as much gathering in this area than the rest of the seam. If your arms were anywhere but down to your sides, it would balloon out and not drape in this area. I like baggy, but not if it does not drape well. Also the slip was about 3 or 4 inches shorter than the dress which looked very odd. I had high hopes that this would be a great dress for me, but I am sad to say, I had to return it.
I've been eyeing this dress forever but was reluctant to order because I wasn't sure how it'd fit me and I hate mailing in returns since the nearest fp store is 4.5 hours away, not to mention the price is more than I'd like to spend. Recently while on vacation, I was fortunate enough to find this dress on sale in a FP store in the Natural color. I usually wear a L in FP (5'9", 170 lbs, 36DD, athletic build), but I tried on a M and L and the M fit better in the arms and chest, so that's what I bought. The length was perfect, falling about 4" above my knees. I loved it so much, I ordered the blueberry one online and paid full price. Fast forward, I receive the blueberry one in size M and it's way smaller in the bust, but still doable. What wasn't doable was the fact that it didn't even cover my rear end. I immediately called to order a L before they sold out. Hopefully, that'll be longer. The slip included is pretty much worthless to me. If I pull it down to cover my bum, then my bra is entirely exposed. I plan to try one of the fp slips I already own. I know I'm taller than average, but I really wish free people would make some longer dresses for us taller, more conservative girls.
I purchased the Sun Kissed color in a medium. I normally wear a small but I was afraid it would have been too short. The length was actually a bit longer than expected. Unfortunately, this dress made me look like a potato sack with legs. Had to send it back because I knew I would never end up wearing it. Maybe if I purchase it in a x-small or small, it would look better... It's sad because it's such a beautiful dress!!
not for those with a big bust
I tried this on in the store, size L. It was tight in the bust area and HUGE and I do mean huge! everywhere else. The lace is stunning in person and the garment is beautiful overall. It does not suit my body type at all, however, so I did not buy it at the time. If you have a big bust, avoid this one; if you do not you might want to size down.
The detailing on the dress is simply beautiful. The slip runs a bit big. I usually wear a medium in FP dresses and the slip was roomy. A small though would have been too tight on my hips. As a 40+ year old, its a bit too short for me but with leggings, or even wide legged jeans, it will be beautiful.
I bought this in a size M, my usual FP size and it does run a little large, but has a lovely drape and I wanted it to be loose. The slip also fits a little loose but is fine too. The cream is a lovely rich colour and I received loads of compliments when I wore it to work with some cropped skinnies. The lace is of a good quality and washed well on a delicates wash. I would definitely recommend this as it could be worn in all seasons. It would look nice as a beach cover up without the slip. As I am 5'11" it is a little too short for a dress, but not a problem if worn with cropped leggings or shorts.
This dress is gorgeous! I purchased this in the sunkist color, and it is a bit more peach in person than a pinky-peach color. If you are a fan of Jen's Pirate Booty collab with Free People (much like the Tear Drop Pixie Dress) it is another knock out. I am 5'3 and got a small. The fabric is very comfortable and light weight. It hits me above my knee so taller girls beware that this is a short dress. Overall I would highly recommend this. Hoping to buy more of the colors.
