Breezy semi sheer tunic with allover print and beautiful embroidered detailing. Plunging neckline and surplice back. Dolman sleeves.
gorgeous detailing but doesn't look quite right
I really wanted to love this tunic, but I just couldn't. I'm about 172cm tall and usually wear a L-XL but the Large was sold out and I really wanted it so I bought the Medium because alot of FP styles I find are quite oversized anyway. The medium is very large and I could have probably sized down to the small and still had plenty of room. I got the pink sand colour combo and the overall print and the detailing is gorgeous but it just didn't sit right on me. It was far too short to be worn as a dress like in the photos (which is how I wanted to wear it) and because of the dolman sleeves it hung weirdly and didn't look right. It just didn't have the wow factor I was hoping for so unfortunately it will be going back :(
This dress needs to be seen in person to truly appreciate it. The detail with all the beading is beautiful! I admit, you have to be careful with this piece as it's a bit on the "fragile" side with all the intricate beading and embroidery. The v-neck cut on the front can be quite tricky, as it is almost as deep as the photos portray. I played around with it a bit because I wanted it to work for me. I ended up just tying the back strings a bit tighter and pulling the dress down a bit more in the back to raise the neckline in front. I THINK that will work. That being said, use this dress only on a day where you will NOT need to raise your arms because when you do, the entire dress shifts UP and your bum and hoo-ha flash the world. So for a leisurely afternoon, this is a GO. It's so pretty I just HAD to find every reason to keep it in spite of its' few potential wardrobe malfunctions.
THE MOST AMAZING DRESS
Before buying this dress I was concerned about two separate issues 1) I was worried the dress would be large and almost frumpy, but the material was so luxurious and elegant that it really looks stylish; 2) I was worried, like a lot of Free People clothing, that this dress would be incredibly short so I bought a medium (I usually wear a small) and it is perfect. It is longer in the back and short in the front but it really is so beautiful and classy. Basically, I had a lot of concerns before paying so much for this dress, but I don't regret it one bit. I got the purple/blue and it is ah-mazing and I want to wear it to everything! Literally cannot say enough good things about this dress.
