Very Odd Fit
I marked TTS, but honestly I'm not even sure how to rate sizing. I'm 5'7" 125 lbs 30DD (33" chest) 27"waist 35" hips and I ordered the xs in the midnight combo. It was incredibly tight in the chest, but the sleeves were incredibly loose-- even falling off on my broad shoulders. The skirt puckered up by the empire seam, particularly in the back, and made me look huge. This was so puzzling to me because the fit seems so normal in other people's pictures, but I also see that since ordering it, others have posted reviews remaking the same thing. I guess I would try it out for yourself because the colors of this slip are so incredibly rich and beautiful-- esp the creamy white around the flowers and it fades perfectly from navy to black. Love that part at least!
I got the blue/white polka dot one (I'm obsessed with polka dots!) so pretty! the blue is not as dark as its shown on the picture. I wanted to get the ochre color as well but my skin is olive and it wouldn't go well. But I'm super happy with the blue. It may be a little short for some, but I think it'll work as a dress or tunic just as beautiful. Great dress!
i saw this dress on a youtuber and i fell in love with it, i found it online and decided to order it, this dress is GORGEOUS but the sizing runs a size larger! i'm usually a small and the small here is like a blanket! (keep in mind i usually like clothes to be a little baggy) i wish i went for the XS which i think would still be a little bit loose so the perfect fit for me! i totally recommend this dress just go a size smaller xo
Beautiful yet awkward
Despite reading the reviews, I decided to order this dress in the "midnight combo," size XS. My measurements: 5'4, 110lbs, 32" Bust, 25" Waist. Color: Not as vibrant as the stock photos in the color combo purchased. Take note on how the lower portion of the dress & sleeves portray a dark grey/black. The color is actually a lighter grey, but it still blends well due to a dark blue lining in the dress. Fabric: Prone to snags and pulls. Upon receiving this dress in the mail, there were noticeable areas of fabric defects. The most noticeable in particular was around the back neckline, with other visible runs on both sleeves and near the side zipper. Fit: The front is cut perfectly and will flatter any body shape. Unfortunately, when it comes to the back, I will have to agree with other reviews regarding an odd, awkward fit. If I bend down, my bum almost shows, and if my arms are lifted above a 40 degree angle. the dress literally shifts upward, stretching the underarm area and causing concern that the fabric will rip. Essentially, the bust and low v-back should have been cut lower. This would fix all the fit issues in my opinion. End Result: I can't decide whether or not to keep the dress. It's beautiful, but needs to be altered in order to fit properly. My advise: go to a FP store and try the dress on, because it honestly could work for you.
Hi kreed324, We're sorry to hear about your dress. We'll be in touch! -Free People
I bought this dress on sale (in store), and I had been eyeing it online for a while, so it was very exciting to find it on the sale rack! The dress is gorgeous, and I've received lots of complements. However, the material is on the thin side, and it repeatedly slides off my shoulders. The sleeves are a bit long, but I was expecting that at first anyway. I am normally a size medium, but a size small fit best on me in this dress, though I'm not sure if anyone else experienced this. Though the fit is a bit odd, I still absolutely love this dress. Just be aware that the aim isn't comfort.
The Issue with the Cut
First of all, the print is really catchy! When I saw this dress on a hanger I wanted to have it immediately and were choosing among three colors (those with the flowers). The fabric itself is so-so - not expensive, but can look good if you proper iron and steam the dress. When I put the dress on, I felt really uncomfortable: the shoulder cut is quite wide, the sleeves are long, and - what is the most important - I could not be flexible and move my hands up in this dress. The cut somehow fixes the sleeves in place the way you cannot raise your hands. So this issue makes the dress practically unwearable (at least for me). But if this dress fits you, then I believe it will make your look distinctive because of the cute bohemian print.
beautiful print and fabric!
I am not a pink person- but I fell in love with the blush colour combination. In real life- it's exactly like the website picture and the fabric is wonderfully soft and light. There is even a beautiful very subtle pattern that runs through the entire fabric. I find the shoulders are cut quite wide- so I definitely need to put the little bra catchers on (sewn in the dress). I probably would have fit into the small but I chose the medium because I like things a little baggy. Glad I did- as the bottom of the back opening is quite snug when I move my arms forward or when I drive. Overall I love this dress- it's beautiful!
Odd fit for me too...
I am small framed, but have a large chest. I can usually make most FP dresses work, but this one was a no-go. I would say it runs slightly large overall, but with the seam at the skirt running just under the bust I had to pull more material forward than looked right with the open V at the back. It really is a beautiful dress - the print on the antique rose is stunning - would be beautiful on other body types!
Beautiful dress but the arms are placed wrong
I read the poor reviews before getting this but saw this on sale and had to snag it as I have been eyeing it for many months now. The colors are just as beautiful in person and if it weren't for the placement of the arms this would be a perfect dress. Unfortunately as many others have pointed out the arms are placed awkwardly on this dress. They sit too low so that if you want to lift your arms at all the whole top of the dress lifts in an awkward way. If you look at the model's pic you can kind of see the effect in the shot where she has one hand on her hip. The other issue is that the shoulders are so wide on this dress that getting it to stay on is a real challenge. My work around to get this to stay on is to clip the little snappy string around my bra strap on the inside of the dress and to also loop my arms through the hanger loops on the inside This is the only way the dress will actually stay on. The dress is true to size everywhere except in the arms/shoulders which I don't think are a wrong size but are instead just placed poorly. Ultimately I did decide to keep it because of the great sales price I got and because it truly is beautiful. So if you find it on sale and you are willing to not move your arms too much while wearing it then it may work for you.
