Honed flat across the whole face, so nothing in the composition sits proud of anything else.

All three stones are green, so this composes by tone rather than by contrast — the joins are found by the brass, not by the color. Worth knowing that onyx is the softest of the three: it will mark before either marble does, so the onyx section is where a wet glass or a citrus rind shows first.

• Seal the stone surfaces with a penetrating stone sealer before first use; reseal every six to twelve months
• Wipe the brass border with a dry cloth; avoid chemical cleaners on the metal
• Do not use abrasive pads on any surface
