Best skirt ever, worst style ever

Ugh, FP, why do you do this to me?! I actually gasped when I took this out of the bag because it is capital-B Beautiful. While not quite as bright as it appears in the studio pictures, there's so much detail and shading in this skirt. My home is by the sea and it literally reminds me of there, that's how fantastic it is. Then I put it on. Got an M which usually fits fine on me (I'm pretty heavy and sadly I carry most of it around my stomach but oh well). It is GENUINELY GIGANTIC. Literally. I'm sitting down right now to write this review and I can see the waistband for this thing HANGING off me. The worst part is it that the hip portion feels about the right size, but the entire thread of the elastic just falls down and drops off my belly. Even worse is the freaking style. I could just size down to an S (even though I'm not a small girl so I dread to think what all you skinny beans would do). There's a huge gaping "hole" in the skirt. I presume this is to give it the casual beach vibe (at this time of year?) but mother of god there is no excuse for this. It just emphasises the feeling that this skirt has been made on the cheap when it's sewn up in such a way that the entire waist portion just dangles at my midsection. The elastic feels reeeeally bad quality, so the whole thing just seems to slouch, but even worse is the fact that it's also a tie waist with no security. The skirt is so enormous that I actually can't bring it together close enough for it not to either show my sides or not to fall down when I do...anything. I don't know how the model's done it, maybe they've sewn it up? I don't know if everybody else is cool with paying £120 for a glorified beach sarong THAT DOESN'T EVEN STAY UP, but I'm not. However, the worst part is, this skirt is SO BEAUTIFUL that I'm seriously contemplating sizing down to an S in the hope that it will fix all the (many) problems with this skirt's style. I'm so sad, FP, what a disappointment.
