Not gonna lie. The first few days I wore these sucked because it's so stiff. I had horrible bruising. I stopped wearing them for a couple of weeks and decided to try them again. Once they get worn in and stoppedbeing so stiff it's a great sandal! Don't size down or up. I'm usually a size 7 1/2 so I picked a 38 in Euro and it's a perfect fit.
do NOT size down!
The other reviewer said to size down so i did because ive never had birks before. In my experience i would say do not size down. I am sometimes a 7.5, sometimes an 8, and in euro sizes i get a 38. I got a 37 and its not gonna work at all. they have to go back, and now FP is out of the size 8. *tears*
My go to sandal for summer
As someone with problematic feet (narrow, flat footed and a bunion to boot) I live in Birkenstocks. However, with two thick straps my beloved Arizona's can get quite hot in the middle of summer, but the Madrid style is perfection. I ordered these last June (in a neutral brown/bronze colour) and l think I wore them EVERY.SINGLE.DAY for the following 4 months. The thinner single strap gives a much daintier appearance and allows the foot to breathe. I couldn't be without them and will absolutely repurchase when my current pair falls apart. I'm a size 8 and order Birks in a 37 (regular and narrow width both fit, but I prefer narrow) - Birks do tend to run a full size large.
