I am glad that I read the reviews before purchasing so I knew to size up. When I received they fit me perfectly, but when I was lacing them up apparently I pulled too hard because I snapped the lace in two! I took the shoe to my local cobbler and he some how sewed it back together for me. Just a warning that they are delicate and to be extra gentle!

Disappointed, But Love the Style
I've had my eye on these shoes for quite some time. When they went on sale, I quickly snatched them up. I read many reviews saying that they fit very small so I ordered a size up. Unfortunately when they came they were much too large on both feet, although one shoe seemed to be even larger then the other. Curious because they both said 39 on the bottom but were clearly different sizes. Also, the laces were entirely too short, which was a problem I had seen others comment on. I phoned Free People to tell them my predicament and ask if they could kindly send me another pair and make sure the laces were longer. I quickly received them in the correct size with the same problem of extremely short laces. I also discovered when I wore them out that the bottoms are quite slippery. I've decided to keep them because they're super adorable and comfy, but I'm going to look into buying some laces elsewhere to replace the current ones (they keep coming untied when I wear them), and potentially sand paper the bottom of the shoe to prevent slipping.
cutest summer sandals
with most of the FP website, the product styling is amazing, but it can differ from the true colour of the products. i purchased the colour 'cognac' and found their colour to be slightly darker and brighter than the images - but this was OK as its what i prefer! i'm a UK size 5, so i chose EU 38 and they fit perfectly. I have wide feet and found the leather very forgiving - they still look as good on my feet as they do on the skinny models! the leather lace takes some loosening at first to fit into but that's completely adjustable. the sole is really slippery up to around the first 10 wears, which is dangerous but you could always sand the soles to wear them in. the only bad thing I have to say about these is the leather lace doesn't come in the length photographed. I can only wrap it around my ankle once and make a tiny knot. I would love a longer piece so I can wrap it up my leg a few times - not sure why I was supplied with a short one?! I had a look at other peoples FPme images and they all got long leather laces. a little disappointed as this is one of the main selling points.
Awesome lace Up flats!
After reading some of the negative reviews I thought I might be taking a risk in ordering these babies. Well, I was over the moon when they came in the mail! I sized up from my usual 39 to a 40 which is always the case for me in Free People shoes. The shoes are comfortable and well made. The blue color is beautiful! The laces are long enough & the shoes look amazing when on. I am actually wearing these for my upcoming wedding!
I'm usually 8.5 or 9, with narrow feet, and the 40 fits perfectly. (I usually am 39 so I agree they run small.) I got the blue color and I adore them, however the fading doesn't match on the two shoes and the left is much darker than the right which is really annoying. I've decided they are worth it, though. They are so flexible and soft that they are super comfortable. The soles are very very slippery but hopefully wearing them outside will solve that. Another fun thing I discovered is that you can re-lace them to change how they cross over your foot. compared to the model, I took out top cross on the foot and added a cross above it at the ankle, and I like them even more that way. I'll post photos to show the discoloration and the way I laced them.
Favorite shoes, bad construction
I absolutely love the look and feel of these shoes. They look good with everything and I get compliments on them constantly. But I can't get over how many times I've had to superglue something on them and I've only had them for about three weeks. The only thing stopping me from buying another pair is the worry that they will won't last long enough to outweigh the price.
Straps are way too short!
When I saw this flats online I knew I needed them! However, after reading the reviews about the straps being too short, I doubted about wether to buy them or not. After much pondering I decided to buy them and after I made my purchase I emailed customer service and kindly ask them to make sure the straps were not too short. They said that it was too late to do a quality check but then shipped the package 2 days later. Anyway, once they arrived I just knew the straps where too short without even trying the shoes on. Overall it is a lovely shoe but the strap issue kind of ruins it.

straps are way too short
I ordered a pair in black in January. They are a cool looking but fairly flimsy shoe - I wouldn't wear them on a day that requires walking more than a block. Normally I wear a 39, but ordered a 40 and the fit is fine. The biggest issue is that the straps/laces are way to short. I contacted customer service and they sent out another pair, and the straps are exactly the same length on the replacement pair. In the photo of the model, the straps wrap around her ankle three times. Both pairs of shoes i received wrap barely once - with an excruciatingly tiny tie that probably wouldn't stay fastened during actual wear. I don't have large ankles (they aren't super slim either, they're very average) - I'm 5'7" and weigh 140lbs. The measurement of the laces on the shoes i received are 46" long. To wrap three times they need to be at least 110" long. This really does impact the way the shoe looks and I wish there was a solution or that FP hadn't skimped during production.
Cute look, worried about wearing them
Beautiful shoe but very impractical. The sole of the shoe has no tread at all and I find myself slipping on the tiles in my house when I wear them! I am scared of wearing them because I feel like they may wear out very easily. Paying NZ$111.17 for this I thought they might have some sort tread! I also had the same problem as a few other people and that was that my straps were too short!! I read the reviews before buying and thought maybe this wouldn't happen to me - and it did! Disappointed because I love the shoe design but it wasn't the same as pictured. Was after the lace up around my leg look not a one time around the ankle look!
If I could only find the right one...
I LOVE these shoes. I'm in between a size 8.5 and 9 and the 40 fit great. I got the cognac color and it's it's a little darker in person but i don't mind. The leather is nice and very soft, however I feel that the straps used to hold the shoe together may break after a while. Since I live in Miami, I'm also not sure how it would fair during rainy weather. I'm sooo frustrated because although I love the shoes, I had the same problem as the other two reviewers. The straps to tie the shoe up were way too short!! I decided to re-order them and I got the same problem AGAIN. The straps are so short that I can't tie them twice or else they come undone so I am only able to tie them once which totally defeats the purpose of the lace up design. I love the uniqueness of the shoe but the short straps make it difficult to wear.
