Striped nubby knit fit and flare dress with a deep ?V? in front and back. Crisscross bodice. Pullover style. Lined.
Awkward up top
As soon as I pulled this dress over my head, I knew immediately it wasn't going to work for me. It was tight around the shoulders (granted I have broad shoulders) and there was far too much fabric around the chest. I will say that the fabric is very soft, which would make for a comfortable dress if the fit weren't so weird. My waist was completely lost in the fabric from the chest but the skirt length was very good. I am 5'7" 33" bust, 27" waist. I tried on an xs and while a small would have helped with the shoulders, I knew it wasn't going to work for the chest or waist.
My favorite dress!
To start off, I 100% disagree that this dress isn't a good dress for busty girls. I am 5'2, 140 lbs give or take, and a 32F. I wear any size from xs to large in free people depending on the item, but in dresses I am usually a med/large 10/12. I tried a small in store and thought it was kinda snug so I ordered a medium. The medium ended up not falling right on my bust/waist was too wide and I went back and exchanged for the small. I got compliments from all the employees at the store and it's my boyfriend's favorite dress on me from free people! I added a picture to show how it looks fantastic on busty girls, just size down!! :)
I actually don't hate this dress. As long as you wear a good bra with it, it isn't awful. The top is a bit different because it isn't fitted, and kind of drapes over your chest. If you have a very full bust, it might make your boobs look saggy. But if you can somehow pull off minimal cleavage and keep the gals up close and personal, it looks alright. I ordered a XS which is my normal FP dress size and I'd say it looks pretty much like the pictures (I am 5'3 and 32DD). I like it best when I wear it with the lace triangle bra, because that bra gives enough support without adding anything extra so it makes me look less busty and therefore not fat in this dress. It's a cute casual dress that I can wear to class without looking like I 'dressed up' for some special occasion. The eggplant colour is also more of a burgundy stripe than eggplant, but looks great nonetheless. I agree with the other reviewers that it's not a knockout dress... but I don't think it's as awful as everyone else is making it out to be. Fabric quality is pretty good too.
Cute, but do agree that it's roomy in bust
This would be most flattering on someone very skinny with a small chest. I'm a 32 C, 120lbs, 5'4" and the small does give me a bit of an "is she pregnant?" look, but everything else about the dress is so cute I can get over that. Also agree with the other reviewer about the color of the eggplant. In the photo it almost looks black and white, but irl it's like a brown/purple and grey.
Busty gals beware, this isn't flattering! While the dress is very comfy, it made me look 10 pounds heavier because the top ended right under my bust line, making my waist look nonexistent. I think this dress would look best on very thin people. Also, the color of the eggplant/grey striped dress is much more purple in person. It is truly "eggplant." Just a heads up!
