The *perfect* hat!
I love this hat! It is a 100% wool, good quality, sturdy, and very stylish hat. I ordered the silent woods colour, which is green in bright light, but appears dark in low light, so that even in well lit areas, the top may be quite green, but the underside of the brim which is the part you'll see when looking straight on at your face will appear darker, even blackish, because of the shadow cast by the hat itself. This optical illusion makes it a very versatile hat... Not simply green! As for the stiffness or floppiness of the hat, the lack of colour website says that you can change this by using steam. For a stiffer brim, steam the hat (with the steam function of an iron, for example) then lay it flat. For a floppier hat, steam both sides of the brim, and use your hands to manipulate and mold the brim into the desired shape. You can always revert back to the original shape by steaming and laying the hat flat. I tried this, and it really works!!!! Love this hat so much, I already bought two more in different colors. Free people should carry more colors, since ordering from lack of colour, which is based in Australia, is not as easy as ordering through free people. Better shipping, and fullproof return policy.
Great quality hat
I got the Nightfall colour to wear for a wedding. A really nice deep but quite bright blue, and this is not a floppy hat - the brim stays put, which was what I was looking for. Quite stylish. I think my head is an average size and it fits me comfortably. I ordered the Silent Woods version too, thinking from the picture that it was black, but perhaps the 'woods' reference should have warned me that it's dark green. I like it but I don't need a green hat, so will be returning it. (The green one arrived in a box not quite big enough to take the brim, so was somewhat out of shape. This has happened before with hats from FP. If I were keeping it I would have tried steaming it back into shape, but not sure this would have worked on such a stiff brim, so would have had to ask for a replacement if it hadn't). Chic hat.
