Weird but great
This shirt feels and looks great. Well made, nice thick fabric. But it's weirdly oversized. The back is so long it could be worn as a shirt dress, making it too thick to comfortably tuck in. I'll likely get this tailored so it fits more like a nice button down.
I ordered my usual XS in this shirt and it fit perfectly. I got the green version, and has easily become one of my favorite Free People purchases. It fits great, the material is thick and well made, and it's feminine and casual at the same time. Definitely worth every penny!
They're not kidding about being oversized
The positives: Really cute eyelet fabric! I haven't seen anything like it yet. Fabric is soft and more substantial than I thought it'd be. Buttons are all well sown on and the eyelets aren't sloppy (read: eyelets not punched out completely or sown all the way). The mehs: I am normally a size S and when I saw the measurements for a Small I immediately update my cart to an XS. Holy cow, glad I did. I am 5'5", 126 lbs, and a 34C. There is plenty of extra fabric. I thought about maybe sizing down again, but remembered that the shirt only goes to an XS. I am frustrated with FreePeople's oversized fit. I don't think you should make clothing that is oversized by at least 2 sizes. It makes it hard on people who don't have room to continually size down if clothing is only offered down to XS, but is "oversized". I think Free People needs to offer XXS is they are offering oversized clothing because when they say oversized, they mean it. Also, I cannot understand how the shirt looks so slim on the model in the photo because I guarantee she is smaller than me up top and some how doesn't have as much shirt fabric?? Overall, I am definitely keeping the shirt, but don't be mislead by the model photo if you are normally a S or XS in Free People shirts. Also, the back of the shirt is pretty long, and so is the front. When you tuck it in, you will literally be tucking each half down both sides of your pant legs. I tried it with dark colored jeans and didn't see any bulges, but keep that in mind.
