Cute but awkward fit

  • Body-type: hourglass
  • Location: California

I love the color and cloth of these pants. The pleats are kind of unattractive and make the waist pinch in strange ways. I don't recommend following the descriptions advice to buy a size down. I'm usually a 10/12 and while a 10 fit fine in the legs, they're too tight at the waist. I wish I had gone a size up instead. These pants are also thin - better for summer/spring wear than winter.

I have these in green and black. I tried an 8 on in the store and they were very tight in the stomach area. I am no longer flat in the stomach area but not really overweight either. I ordered the 10 and they fit well but still wanted more of a relaxed looked. Why not reorder the 12? I did and they fit exactly as the 10 did. lol, I give up. I kept both pair of pants and find that they are a little snug at the bottom of waist band and in the legs. I can pull the pants away from my body with lots of room to spare I think that it is the design of the pant and in my opinion a snap between the bottom and top buttons would resolve problem. I have washed them and hung them to dry and they did very well.

Very nice style, but...

I ordered a pair in black and was super excited when they arrived. They fit well and have a very cute style (just like in photos). Though there is a major problem with them. My white underwear and shirt, as well as cream-colored socks all turned grey where they came in contact with the pants. The inside part of my belt changed color too, but the worse were my hands, looking grey, dyed from rubbing my pants. Not sure about the quality of the dyes.

YES - petite ladies can wear these

  • Age: 31-35
  • Body-type: petite

I rarely write reviews, but I gotta look out for my tiny brethren. I'm 5 1', about 100 lbs and narrow hipped. Finding pants that fit, even when I've sized down to zero, is nearly impossible as sizes have gotten so much bigger over the years. I am always super grateful to find a pant cut that does not run big! These are those pants! I ordered in a size zero (tipped off by all the folks saying they "run small") and they fit exactly like the photos. Slightly dressy, very comfy, soft material. THANK YOU FREE PEOPLE. Ya'll should use the same fit model for all your pants. this is the right sizing. all the petite ladies: rejoice.

Relaxed look

I followed the advice of the previous reviewer and sized up from my normal 8 to a 10. Not because of the waist, but due to fit in the quads/thighs. The pants do sit very low. I found that when I kneeled down, they were tight from the knee to thigh, not because of amount of material, but because of styling. I chose the earth red. In person the color is much more muted than the photo.

Super Cute but run small in thigh

I purchased these pants when they came back in stock in my size. I had been eyeing them for a while so I was glad to see more sizes. At the time, there was just one review and so I used that to help me decide on size. My experience with these pants was slightly different than the other reviewer. I am usually a size 8 in FP pants and sometimes need a 6. My measurements are 38-28-38 for reference and my thighs are a little bigger than standard I think, not fat but muscular. I ordered a size 8 figuring these would be a perfect fit but that was not the case. The waste fit perfectly in the 8 but the thigh area was a bit tight. the fabric is lightweight and does NOT stretch so sizing needs to be dead on. I would guess that the model in the pic is wearing about 2 sizes bigger than she normally does to get them so slouchy. I returned the 8 and exchanged them for a 10. I was afraid that the 10 would be too large in the waist but it is actually fine. To be honest, there was not much difference between the two sizes but it did give me a little extra in the thigh area so I am happy.

cute pants, run true to size

Since there were no reviews, I guessed from the photo that these ran large and ordered a size down. I could wear them, but they were very snug in the waist and hips, and that doesn't work for this style of pants. I exchanged for my usual size and they fit much better. They fit through the waist and hips, but are relaxed in the legs. I'm petite, so they're ankle pants on me, full length unrolled. They are low rise but don't have a baggy crotch. I think the model must be wearing hers a couple of sizes large. The fabric is perfect for fall and spring, and the style is casual but can be dressed up with a nice blouse and boots. These are a great option for those of us with larger legs, roomy but not so full that they make you look bigger than you are. If you do want them really loose like the model, size up.
