A sartorial masterpiece!
I admired this top for a long time. I would periodically gaze at it, wondering if I could ever take the plunge given the price tag. I finally decided to, the two other excellent reviews spurring me on. (Thank you ladies!) I was not disappointed. This piece is outstanding, nothing short of a masterpiece. It reminds me of something they would wear on Downton Abbey! I ordered the 'Tea' and the colour is beautiful, sort of a nude colour with a hint of blush, the beadwork just pops against the neutral background. The fit is beautiful! I was worried it would be too short in some spots and that a slip would wreck the look of it, but because of the drapey style and the longer points it sort of masks the shorter areas. I do wear an ivory slip under it but I hemmed it so that it doesn't show at the bottom. My only quandary is what footwear to pair with this top, I can't decide if heels or tall boots look better. Overall, this is a beautiful garment that will stand the test of time. It will simply never go out of style, which to me, justifies the price. It will be mine always. (I ordered the xsmall/small - I am 5.6" 34c 125 pounds. Perfect:)
I got the tea - it's more of a blush color in person. Absolutely gorgeous. Looks like nothing else, people can't take their eyes off it. It manages to be subtle and elegant despite all the heavy embellishment. It manages to drape beautifully and effortlessly despite the oversized width. I'm usually an S (or XS in oversized FP tops/dresses), 5'0 118lbs 32D-26-42. The XS/S was perfect. Doesn't look too big thanks to the delicate fabric and masterful cut. The longest part hits me below the knee, the shortest part hits below the butt. Definitely recommend a high heel with this, especially if you're a shortie like me. Tip: wear it with the FP "tattered slip" in white. The two pieces together are mind blowing fabulosity. The dress is sheer and some of the cuts start very high up on the leg (you can see this in the model photo)... the "tattered slip" corrects for both sheerness and length while essentially looking like a part of the dress. Gives it a pretty vibe and the perfect chic mix of high/low. Only down side is you have to be very careful with this dress - like many FP things, it's delicate. I did have beads falling off after 3 wears. Also note the sleeves part - it's sleeveless, but it's so wide that the edges hang down on my arms over my narrow shoulders (you can see this in the model photos) - not sure how I feel about that - on one hand I prefer the extra coverage, but on the other hand it's a bit uncomfortable. Overall, this statement piece is one of my favorite dresses of all time. STUNNING in person. Seriously the photos don't do it justice.
I wanted this from the very first time I saw it. I finally broke down and ordered it and wow. It's absolutely sparkly and stunning in person. I'm 5'4" and it's truly a tunic length on me. Very flowy and the hem is gorgeous. I'm on the curvy side, ordered the m/l and it's a very roomy fit. Truly a piece you will have for a life time. <3
