A little woodland royalty, a lot of opening-night drama. Created for LA Opera’s The Tales of Hoffmann and acquired from its Costume Shop Sale, this theatrical gown pairs vivid green chiffon with metallic floral brocade and elaborate gold trim.
A high ruffle collar frames the gathered sheer upper bodice, while a structured, corset-style midsection brings shape to the billowing silhouette. Cascading chiffon shoulder ruffles meet long brocade sleeves with flared, gold-trimmed cuffs. Below, a voluminous tiered skirt delivers the requisite grand entrance.
An extravagant piece of opera history for collectors, performers, or anyone whose wardrobe could use a plot twist.
