WEIRD SHOE SUMMER
Taking Our Freakiest Footwear Out & About

We scoured the hidden corners of the FP site for our most left-of-center pairs—and then incorporated them into our everyday wardrobe.
When it comes to shoes, we could say there’s an unspoken spectrum. On one side, you have practicality, comfortability, functionality. The other? We consider that the wild, wild West. Like, it can get really weird over there. Now, there’s always been those few who are daring enough to walk that line and wear those crazy pairs with confidence. However, in 2026, we’re experiencing an odd phenomenon where more and more (maybe unsuspecting) individuals are crossing that aforementioned line, the one that leads to Weird Shoeville.
But what awaits you in this magical place? So happy you asked. Think split toes, unlikely hybrids, head-turning textures, oh my! Some may still cringe at the sight, but as a society I think we’re well on our way to accepting these, let’s say, interesting pairs into our everyday rotations.
Yes, everyday—meaning these aren’t just special occasion shoes. They’re accompanying jeans and tees to casual dinners, skirts and blouses to the office, and more! The vibe is: everyone get weirder…NOW.
So here at FP, we must oblige. We’ve become home to so many silly (complimentary) styles, and we tasked willing volunteers from our merch team to take them for a spin, in public, where people can see them. Because if you have a hold-up about any of these, it’s probably “how in the world am I supposed to style those, and where can I wear them?” Your answers await below, covering every who, what, when, where, and why about these wacky pairs, so you can walk confidently into Weird Shoe Summer.

Too-Cool Workboot Clogs

WHEN Did You Wear Them?: Last Thursday night on the town
WHERE Did You Wear Them?: To an outdoor concert of an early 2000s band
HOW Did You Style Them?: My new favorite twisted seam jeans and a femme corset top
WHY This Pair Rocks: When I found these, I won’t lie, I chuckled. I love a good slingback mule, and us carrying a Timberland version was not on my 2026 bingo card. However, they’re so comfy, and add a subtle yet funky accent to even the simplest of outfits.

Boat Shoes? Kitten Heels? Why Not Both?
WHAT Shoe?: Yacht Party Boat Shoes
WHEN Did You Wear Them?: Sunday evening
WHERE Did You Wear Them?: Dinner with the family
HOW Did You Style Them?: Traditionally, the shoes are more of a heritage silhouette, so I paired the shoe with these vintage, tailored shorts. On top, I added an off-the-shoulder draped shirt, As a finishing touch, I added my grandmother's vintage crocodile purse to tie in the brown from the shoes and add some texture to the ensemble.
WHY This Pair Rocks: At first, I had no idea how anyone could make these work. Then I slipped them on and realized they’re my two favorite silhouettes: preppy boat shoes and an elevated kitten heel. Once I had a more open mind and started styling them, I realized they go with everything.

The Jelly-Sneaker Hybrid
WHAT Shoe?: Puma Mostro Jelly Sneakers
WHEN Did You Wear Them?: Saturday afternoon
WHERE Did You Wear Them?: I wore them to a plant market, thrift shopping, and even at Costco.
HOW Did You Style Them?: I leaned into the streetwear style of the shoes and paired them with an outfit I would say is perfect for “stylish hiking.” I wore fitted, boat-neck top and vintage low-rise capris (like these). Then I finished it with a fuzz, faux-fur bag for a juxtaposed touch.
WHY This Pair Rocks: When I was packing to visit my family, I ran into a fortuitous problem. I was able to style these shoes with every outfit I came up with. Whether I was feeling girly or drawn to street-style, these shoes added the perfect amount of flair. Plus, I felt cool in them.
