Short answer: yep.
From contributor Aemilia Madden.
Summer in New York has made me a compulsive showerer.
Most of the year, it's easy enough for me to rinse every other evening (or just post-gym). But when temperatures crawl above eighty degrees before 10am, I’m basically sweating from the moment I wake up. And, with my necessary increase in shower volume (sometimes three a day, if I’m being honest) comes a tandem issue: how quickly I go through the product. It can feel wasteful, especially when I’ve splurged on luxury body wash and shampoo, to be using it on repeat every four to six hours.
So, I was excited by the prospect of testing Everist, a brand that specializes in creating concentrated formulas in packaging that eliminates single use plastic. By reducing water — which can often account for up to 70 percent of the volume of traditional products — this woman-led brand is able to offer just as much potency in a much smaller package.
One steamy afternoon in July, I finally had the chance to test out Everist’s full range of products – a shampoo concentrate, conditioner concentrate, body wash concentrate, and a compostable Konjac body sponge.

One steamy afternoon in July, I finally had the chance to test out Everist’s full range of products – a shampoo concentrate, conditioner concentrate, body wash concentrate, and a compostable Konjac body sponge.
Once I’d done a few spins in the shower, thoroughly wetting my body and scalp, I first tested the body wash. Coming out of the tube, the product was opaque with the consistency of a thick, almost grainy toothpaste. I squeezed a dollop onto the sponge – which upon wetting had transformed from a stiff foam to a soft, squeezable texture – and ran it under the water. Commence scrubbing.
The plant-based formula, made with aloe vera, vegetable glycerin and betaine, emitted a refreshing scent that zapped me awake. I’d learn later upon reading the package that it’s all thanks to an herby combo of bergamot, orange peel, rosemary, clary sage, and peppermint.
I followed up with small dollop sizes of shampoo and conditioner. As someone with long, extra-thick hair, I’m used to going a bit overboard when it comes to portion sizes of my hair care products, but Everists’ highly potent formulas made a little go a long way. And, since the entire line is infused with the same zingy scent, I wasn’t left feeling like a floral potpourri of clashing smells once I toweled off post-rinse.
While I have yet to make it very far into any of my tubes (the brand advertises 2-3+ months of washes), the fact that I’m using just a teensy bit each time I hop in for a de-sweating session makes me feel better about my repeat showering habits. And since I try to keep my rinses short to conserve water (I’m from California, so I’m always acting as if it's a drought), the company’s devotion to eco-friendly packaging and biodegradable formula makes the whole experience all the more enjoyable.
Will I set out on a midday walk just so I can look forward to a shower afterwards? Unlikely. But, even as temps cool and I scale back my showering habits, I’ll be looking forward to feeling squeaky clean.
