If I have to put on a bra, it’s going to be this one.

You might not want to wear a bra right now.

I get it! You’re holed up at home. Maybe solo. Perhaps amongst roommates or family. It’s sort of the ideal environment to succumb to full-on, bra-less status.

But! Allow me to propose an alternative: The Lounge Bra.

Lounge bras—those never-digs-in, feels-like-nothing bras—are like your Friday-night-in friend. Comforting, resilient, and best suited for Netflix marathons.

And these days, I’m wearing them All. The. Time. On their own while lounging. Layered up with a cardi when my roommate blasts the thermostat. Under a tee while WFH. I even sleep in them. (Fuller-chested friends will know this is high praise.)

It’s an endlessly versatile style that makes getting dressed that much easier.

So with around-the-clock wear in mind, I decided to add a couple more styles to my collection. And as a longtime devotee, I’d narrowed it down to an irrefutable checklist: a smooth, supportive material, soft straps, and a wide, comfy band. Basically, I want to forget I’m wearing a bra. (High standards, no?)

I began navigating FP’s soft bra collection, eventually honing in on a $30 longline number that claimed 4.6 stars and 140+ glowing reviews.

“Super comfy, stretchy fabric that does a great job of lifting in a flattering way.” Smooth, supportive material, check.

“Straps are stretchy and comfortable!” Soft straps, check.

“Super comfy thanks to the wide band and looks beautiful.” Wide, comfy band, check.

Seemingly every review mentioned its comfort quotient. So one ‘add to cart’ later and a couple of days in transit, and I was the proud owner of the Ali Low-Back Seamless Bra.

The verdict? It’s my new favorite lounge bra that doesn’t feel like a bra. With no wires, closures, or snaps in sight, it glides effortlessly underneath my clothes and by bedtime, I forget I even had it on. The soft ribbing is blissfully supportive, plus the plunging neckline and low back mean it’s virtually invisible.

These days, maintaining a sense of normalcy has brought me a sense of calm. Sure, there are a lot of things I can’t control right now, but putting on a bra each morning is a simple step I can take to feel put-together. Lounge bras make staying at home just a little easier.

And a lot comfier.

I think we can all agree: bra drawers, rejoice.
